On the red carpet for the People's Choice Awards, Chloe Moretz took some time off from teasing "Kick-Ass 2" news to explain why "Dark Shadows" will be the movie to see this year.

"Because it has everything. It has a little bit of camp," Moretz said. "It has a little bit of danger. It has the supernatural features, vampires, witches, all the fun stuff."

So far, "Dark Shadows" has done more than enough to convince fans it's a movie worth seeing. The Tim Burton-directed adaptation of the cult classic soap opera pulled off a stunning upset victory over "The Amazing Spider-Man" in the first round of MTV Movie Brawl 2012. It will certainly face some stiff competition from a man who knows a thing or two about shadows, when "Dark Shadows" goes head-to-head with "The Dark Knight Rises" in the next round.

Judging by the early promotions for Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows," it should come as no surprise that the "Edward Scissorhands" director is going back to his gothic roots in this film. The remake of the cult classic TV series stars all his regular actors and, judging by the set photos released, is a return to form for Burton after "Alice in Wonderland" and "Sweeney Todd." That's why it should come as no surprise that leading lady Chloe Moretz is thrilled to be working on the film with him, especially because Burton is her dream director.

"It straddles the typical Burton line: camp and drama," Moretz explained. "This is a really good role for Johnny [Depp] I think because he totally sold it because it's so weird. It's such a weird character and he can do weird. He does so much with his hands."

Anyone who follows us here at Movies Blog and MTV News, for that matter, is well aware that we're just a little excited about "Dark Shadows," Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's next collaboration. In addition to our gushing over all the released photos, Depp weighed in on the subject himself, calling his Barnabas Collins a "classic monster character," and the film's composer Danny Elfman promised a "fun" and "wild" film.

Today we have more warm fuzzy words about the film via co-star Chloe Moretz, who we ran into at Spike's Scream Awards, where she talked about her experience making the film and why the film is so special.

“It was pretty amazing. I mean working with Tim Burton has always been a dream for me, so to actually get on set and work with Tim, and be in it with Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter and Michelle Pfeiffer, it was a dream come true because they are all my idols," she said. "To work people like that that know how to do it, and how to get it. It was really special I learned a lot.”

What do you get when you put The Comedian and Hit-Girl in the same room? Apparently, you get this emotional scene from "The Texas Killing Fields," a new crime thriller directed by Ami Canaan Mann.

Sam Worthington, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jessica Chastain and Chloe Moretz star in this drama based loosely on real-life events. Morgan plays Brian Heigh, a New York detective transplanted in Texas who works alongside a local cop (Worthington), the two of them teaming together to investigate a series of unsolved murders where bodies have been appearing in a nearby marsh locals call "The Killing Fields."

In this exclusive clip from the movie, watch as Anne (Moretz), a local girl from a troubled home, goes head-to-head against Detective Heigh, who's clearly concerned for her safety. But based on her talk—and true to Moretz form—it seems like Anne can take care of herself just fine… but looks, as they say, can be deceiving.

"The Texas Killing Fields" will be in select theaters on October 14, 2011.

Having already demonstrated her ability to "Kick-Ass" as Hit-Girl, Chloe Grace Moretz is out to show a different side of herself in "Hick."

"Hick," directed by Derick Martini, makes its grand debut at the Toronto International Film Festival this coming weekend, offering movie lovers a very different (but no less talented) side of Moretz than you've seen before. If you won't be at Toronto, never fear — we've got an EXCLUSIVE first look at the movie in the video below.

Moretz stars in "Hick" as Luli, a thirteen-year-old Nebraska native living with a particularly shady pair of parents who get drunk and fight like clockwork. The sour dynamic gets particularly rotten when Luli's parents throw down in the middle of her birthday party.

Things finally seem to be moving along nicely for Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's "Dark Shadows" adaptation. They've assembled a fun, high-caliber cast in Depp, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer and Chloe Moretz. And now they have up-and-comer/Depp lookalike Thomas McDonell in the mix to play young Barnabas Collins.

When MTV News caught up with McDonnell at the "Prom" junket we tried to pry a few details about the project out of him. And when I say "pry," I mean it. McDonell is a young man of very, very few words. See the video and exchange below for proof.

"We're going to do a lot of rehearsals," McDonell said regarding how he's prepping for the role. "But we've got awhile before we do that."

Chloe Moretz wasn't kidding around.

When MTV News caught up with the actress at The Comedy Awards in New York City last weekend, she informed us that she'd booked a new gig so huge we would freak out when we heard about it. And while the "Kick-Ass" star couldn't divulge beyond that, Deadline filled in the blank today when they reported that the 14-year-old would be joining the oh-so-impressive cast of Tim Burton's upcoming "Dark Shadows."

So while the starlet did miss out on that coveted role of Katniss in "The Hunger Games", snagging a part in another highly-anticipated feature alongside the likes of Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter and Michelle Pfeiffer (whom Chloe will be playing the daughter of) is no joke.

After the jump, check out the news on James Franco's latest endeavor, casting for the lead in "Rock of Ages", Ryan Reynolds voicing for "Turbo", and the trailer for Will Ferrell's latest, "Everything Must Go".
