Osama bin LadenLate last evening, President Barack Obama announced that Osama bin Laden has been killed by United States forces in an operation conducted in Pakistan. The news set Twitter ablaze immediately, with countless Hollywood icons and celebrities weighing in with their thoughts on the 9/11 architect's death.

Responses from actors, writers and filmmakers alike differed dramatically in terms of how to react to the news. Some comedians, including Dane Cook, approached the announcement with as much comedy as the situation could possibly afford.

Beleaguered "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof even endured yet another insult towards his show's conclusion, this time with a smile. Most surprising of all, it may have been Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who first brought news of bin Laden's death to Twitter. And, yes, Charlie Sheen said "winning." You knew that was coming.

FROM MTV MOVIES: Last October, after being handed the script for "She Wants Me" by a friend and producer on the indie comedy, Charlie Sheen signed on to play a small role — an outsize version of himself also named Charlie Sheen. He shot his scenes over the course of a few days, and according to writer/director Rob Margolies, was "on time every day and really reliable and always in a good mood."

But speaking to MTV News on Wednesday from Los Angeles, where he's in post-production on the movie, the filmmaker said that the Sheen he's seen in countless recent TV interviews — talking about melting faces and armless children on "Good Morning America," for example — bears little resemblance to the man who was nothing but professional on set.

"Charlie wasn't like that at all," Margolies said. "He was completely in control and not on the defensive. No one ever felt uncomfortable. My personal opinion of him has not changed. I hope he gets the help he needs. I believe in him and wish him the best."

Forget the tiger blood. Forget the winning. Forget the Vatican assassins, the warlocks and the flaming fists.

Put all of that aside and look at the truth: the recent rantings and ravings of Charlie Sheen, broadcast all over the Internet and television and, most recently, Twitter, are sadly emblematic of a terrifically talented man who's gone completely off the reservation.

Looks like Charlie Sheen is ready to throw Hollywood another curveball, and we mean that literally and figuratively: look out world, Wild Thing is back… again!

According to TMZ, the embattled actor is ready and willing to reprise his role as Ricky ‘Wild Thing’ Vaughn in another “Major League” sequel, pending a greenlit script.

If – and it's a big if when considering his very public battle with addiction, among other woes – another "Major League" comes to pass, it would mark the fourth entry in the series. But if Sheen had his way, that third film – "Back to the Minors" – wouldn't exist; in his words, the movie is an "abortion" and shouldn't be considered a part of the series.

When we caught up to "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" star Michael Douglas a few weeks ago, he gave us some vague details of his encounter with Bud Fox, a Charlie Sheen cameo in the April 23 sequel.

Prior to that, in September of last year, The Playlist reviewed the "Money Never Sleeps" script where they learned that Sheen's cameo would be an brief background appearance on a financial talk show. So when I chatted with writer Allan Loeb last week, I asked him to clear up once and for all the particulars of Sheen's appearance, in a spoiler-free manner of course. Read More...

We've known for a while that Gordon Gekko would briefly reunite with his protégé-turned-whistleblower Bud Fox in "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." On the red carpet at the National Review Board gala on Tuesday night, Gekko himself, Michael Douglas, revealed some details about the circumstances surrounding that on-screen reunion with Charlie Sheen's Fox, possibly contradicting or adding to the already-known appearance "as a guest on a financial talk show in the background of a scene," as reported by The Playlist. Douglas also spoke to what it was like working with director Oliver Stone again, as the two famously clashed on the set of the original film.

"Charlie did a cameo," the actor told our own Josh Horowitz. "He came in. It was fun for a day. It was good to see him again." Read More...

Widely regarded as a class-act and all-around nice guy, it goes without saying that Patrick Swayze -- who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer last night at the age of 57 -- will be dearly missed. Given his vast wealth of film work, Swayze's death has understandably affected both his fans and his fellow co-stars... and boy, did he have some amazing co-stars.

Many actors find one or two other actors that they form an electric connection with on the big screen, but Swayze had an almost uncountable amount of these co-starring collaborations. From the heart-wrenching "Ghost" to the domestic battlefields of "Red Dawn," these five actors informed some of the most enjoyable performances of Swayze's accomplished career. Read More...

-- Filmmaker Charles Burnett is stepping up to direct a feature-length documentary about President Barack Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. The film, titled "Stanley Ann Dunham: A Most Generous Spirit" will not only track our president's childhood, but also Dunham's work in helping out developing countries. President Obama is currently "in talks" to be involved; my bet is that he will be. (The Hollywood Reporter)

'Wall Street'Back in February, Oliver Stone told MTV News that he would not be coming to save “Wall Street 2,” the sequel to his Zeitgeist-defining drama about corporate greed in the 1980s. Fox had fast-tracked the movie late last year as the economic downturn became severe.

“I dropped out,” he said. “I didn’t want to do another ‘Wall Street’ movie. I think everything I had to stay came through.”

Well, something changed in the last couple months, because Stone has now signed on to direct the picture. Michael Douglas is likely to reprise his role as merciless corporate raider Gordon Gekko and Variety is reporting that Shia LaBeouf is in negotiations to join the film as well. Read More...
