Charlie DayIf you've ever seen an episode of "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" or have caught even a glimpse of today's "Horrible Bosses," then you already know that Charlie Day personifies the term "scene stealer." And fortunately for us, Guillermo Del Toro has deigned to channel Day's nervous "doofus" energy in the most unlikely of ways: as a scientist in his upcoming alien movie, "Pacific Rim."

"This role isn’t comedic,” Day told The Los Angeles Times about his character. “It’s just quirky. I’m really excited about it because it’s something very different for me. I play a scientist, so this guy can read and write. Unlike my other characters, this guy’s not an idiot. He’s a scientist who has knowledge of these creatures."

In the casting news after the jump, Mark Wahlberg and Jonah Hill team up, an actor from "Modern Family" joins "The To Do List," and Melissa McCarthy and Ryan Lee jump on board Judd Apatow's latest comedy.

Anytime Guillermo Del Toro's name is attached to anything, there is cause for excitement. A) We love his work and B) he's such a warm, lovable human being that it is impossible NOT to love him to pieces. So what we know about his next directorial venture, "Pacific Rim," is that it's a monster movie, but not "Godzilla"-esque. There are also a lot of fun people in it: "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and, as was confirmed by Del Toro, "Always Sunny" star Charlie Day.

When we caught up with the delightful man during the press day for "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark," which he produced, we asked him what appealed to him most about the project and what kind of character Day will be playing.

"The same thing that appeals to me about most of my projects, monsters, creatures," Del Toro said. "It's literally, I love sophisticated food, I love caviar and this and that, but I also love Twinkies," he said, comparing his tastes in filmmaking to his tastes in food. "It's like I stepped into a room full of Twinkies [with this movie], you can hear the song and my face brightening up, a love moment," he explained.

Benedict CumberbatchAt long last, two of the most important roles in "The Hobbit" have been filled out.

"Immortals" actor Luke Evans will star in Peter Jackson's two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel as Bard the Bowman, a man of Laketown who fights against the devious dragon Smaug. Speaking of Smaug, Deadline confirms that the previously (and accidentally) revealed Benedict Cumberbatch is providing both the voice and motion-capture for the fire-breathing beast.

Check out the rest of today's biggest casting news past the jump, including word of an actor making a surprising return for "The Dark Knight Rises" and an amazing role for an "Always Sunny" star.

Though "Horrible Bosses" stars Jason Bateman and Charlie Day might not have been up for any MTV Movie Awards, they still were a bit defensive about the way "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" swept Sunday's awards show.

"There's nothing but Brits," Bateman said. "Lots of Brits on stage."

Day agreed with Bateman's sentiments. "I think I'm up to 15 Brits, and why do we let them in here?" he deadpanned. "I mean, they win all our awards and they get all our acting jobs. You know, I could be a vampire. Not now, but 15 years ago."

Bateman seemed to doubt whether Robert Pattinson's accent was even real.

Killing your boss isn't easy work. Just ask Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and MTV Movie Awards host Jason Sudeikis — those guys are stepping up to the challenge of offing their employers in the upcoming comedy "Horrible Bosses," the latest subject of our Sneak Peek Week.

We're currently LIVE with Bateman and director Seth Gordon (and it isn't too late to tweet your questions @MTVNews using the #spw hash tag!), but to add some extra spice to the mix, we've also got an EXCLUSIVE clip from "Horrible Bosses" showing you exactly what goes into murdering the dudes who pay you money. Needless to say, it's not the most glamorous scheme in the world. Lots of surveillance. Lots of napping. Lots of junk food. Lots of rolling underneath garage doors, sometimes straight into them. Yeah… can't say we really recommend this line of work, honestly. But it sure is hilarious to watch!

Stay tuned all week long for more from MTV Sneak Peek Week!

If the cast didn't already convince you that "Horrible Bosses" is the film for you, its first trailer might.

Comic leads are Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day, which in and of itself is a giant step in the right direction ("Arrested Development" meets "Saturday Night Live" meets "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"), but the supporting cast includes Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Donald Sutherland, Julie Bowen and Isaiah Mustafa. As if that wasn't enough, the flick looks outright hilarious.

'It's Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaI’ve been hurting. Probably my two favorite comedies on TV—“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”—have been on hiatus far too long, and there’s only so many times you can re-watch episodes before your neighbors, behind thin NYC apartment walls, begin to complain. But! Larry David's “Curb” is coming back to HBO in the fall, after a two-year break. And now comes word that “Sunny,” the debaucherous comedy about four friends who run a dive bar in Philly and make one another’s lives hilariously uncomfortable, will be resurfacing on F/X on September 17th for a 12-episode run.

While Charlie Day, along with his fellow writer/producer/co-stars Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton are still in the midst of shooting episodes, Day stepped away from the set to kick MTV News the inside scoop about what “Sunny” fans can expect when the gang—including Danny DeVito's bundle of scummy fun, Frank—returns to the small screen.

“One of my favorite scripts right now is an episode called ‘The Gang Wrestles for the Troops,’” he said. “In our attempt to honor the troops coming back from Iraq, we try and put on a wrestling match and ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper is appearing in that. He’s playing a down on his luck wrestler called Da Maniac.” Read More...
