Movies Blog has moved! come with us to mtv news »

Much to the delight of women and gay men everywhere, the first trailer for Channing Tatum's semi-autobiographical stripper movie "Magic Mike" has hit the web, giving eager squeers their first eyeful of Tatum's sick stripper moves. (I'd definitely keep a few extra twenties in my purse if I knew Tatum was coming over...) But one thing we didn't see a whole lot of was co-star Alex Pettyfer.

To be fair, Tatum does play the film's titular character, but when news of Pettyfer's casting made the rounds last year, it sounded as though his protege character, The Kid — loosely based on Tatum — would be the focus of the film.

Channing Tatum Mila Kunis

Lana and Andy Wachowski, the minds behind the "Matrix" trilogy, have been stocking up on exciting and ambitious projects as of late. Their star-studded, inter-weaving "Cloud Atlas" should hit theaters by the end of the year, and the siblings are busy prepping the start of their first sci-fi action film since Neo and Trinity, "Jupiter Ascending."

Deadline is now reporting that Warner Bros., the studio behind the Wachowski project, has put offers out to Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis for the two lead roles in "Jupiter Ascending." There has been no official word on the plot as of yet, but Deadline describes it as "science fiction action franchise play" that would hopefully spawn a series of movies.

The positive buzz for "21 Jump Street" continues! Just as it has been playing like gangbusters to audiences at sneak preview screenings all over the country, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum's upcoming action-comedy brought the house down at its SXSW premiere Monday night in Austin. The film's positive reception wasn't at all unexpected given the advance praise but according to Hill, it might very well have been predestined in a sense.

"This is where, five years ago exactly, I was here with Paul Rudd for 'Knocked Up' and my agent called and asked me if I wanted to write '21 Jump Street' into a movie," Hill told MTV News of the film's SXSW beginnings at the SXSW-based press day. "So I started writing it in this hotel years ago. It’s crazy we’re back here talking about it now."

We have an extended red-band look at "21 Jump Street," and over the course of the five minute clip, you'll get a pretty good idea of what the world's worst undercover cops are like. Take a look below, but warning: not safe for work material here.

In the film, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum play two reject officers who are recruited to go undercover at a local high school to bring down a drug ring. Unfortunately, for the two police officers, you just don't go undercover at a local high school. There are cliques and bullies and social pressures to deal with that the cops don't handle particularly well.

Steven Soderbergh

After watching both George Clooney and Bradley Cooper walk away from "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," director Steven Soderbergh is also finding it time to say goodbye.

The director has been developing the project with writer Scott Z. Burns since early 2010, but due to disagreements with studio Warner Bros and the lack of a leading man, Soderbergh decided to pass. The Playlist writes that Soderbergh and WB couldn't agree over casting and budget decisions, and the "Contagion" director decided to depart after deals with Cooper fell through only a few days ago.

Channing Tatum, who has become a regular in Soderbergh's recent movies, was briefly considered for the lead part in the spy flick, but ended up being passed over by WB.
