'The Lord of the Rings'Over the last year, we've made it a point to ask as many of the original actors from "Lord of the Rings" as possible to chime in with their opinion of the eventual "Hobbit" movie, and more specifically, to weigh in with whether or not they'd be game to re-enter the world of Middle Earth.

Sure, not all of their characters appear in "The Hobbit," but with a second, transitional film that takes place in the years between the two novels, could we possibly see Aragorn, Frodo, Galadriel, and the rest back for another go round? To hear the actors themselves say it, the answer was a resounding yes.

Well, it's time to put down the pipe weed, Viggo, dust off those ears, Cate, practice your archery Orlando, and get ready to walk around barefoot, Sean and Elijah -– you're about to get asked to go "back again." Read More...

One of the hottest on-screen pairings this year is probably Cate Blanchett and Clive Owen in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," portraying Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Walter Raleigh, respectively. We've got an exclusive scene that features the two, so watch it out below, and then check out the flick when it opens this Friday.

Cate BlanchettSure, everyone is talking up Cate Blanchett's Oscar chances again this year for her turns in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "I'm Not There," but aren't we all forgetting a little turn in another one of the year's best? "Darn it!" Blanchett screamed to me the other day when I asked her why people weren't talking about her cameo in "Hot Fuzz." For those that missed Blanchett's blink-and-you-miss-it appearance (in truth, I didn't realize she was in it until I saw the flick a second time), the Oscar winner played Simon Pegg's ex in an all-too-brief flashback.

After I finished grilling Blanchett to death for any dirt on "Indiana Jones," the actress joked with me about the appearance in the Edgar Wright comedy. "My role was really huge and they cut it," she said. "It was really about a forensic scientist with terrible facial scarring." Read More...

Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth I in 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age'You've united a divided nation under one religion, and consolidated power while rebuffing both suitors and claimants to the throne. You've just defeated the greatest naval force in European history. For goodness sakes, a large tract of previously undiscovered land in an entirely "New World" was just named in your honor. If you're Queen Elizabeth, where the heck do you go from there?

You move inward, said "Elizabeth" and "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" director Shekhar Kapur, who hopes to ultimately make a third film about the great monarch in what he's calling a "trilogy of power."

"[Princess] Diana was divine, but she was divine in death. Most people we know are divine in death," Kapur explained. "[But] Elizabeth was divine in life. She goes beyond being a mere mortal. How do you come to terms with that? That is the third part [of this story]." Read More...

Cate BlanchettThe choice is a clear one: take the One Ring and become a terrible queen of light, or refuse its power and diminish. For Galadriel, the Elven Lady of Lorien, the temptation is resisted and the ring denied. But not for the woman who played her. During a recent interview, a smiling Cate Blanchett insisted she would love to once again grab hold of some "Ring" mojo, and step again into Galadriel's pointy shoes for a "Hobbit" film.

"I haven't heard a thing [about a potential 'Hobbit' film]," she declared. "But, oh God, I would love to work with Hugo [Weaving] and Peter [Jackson] again."

Blanchett is the latest "Lord of the Rings" actor to tell MTV that she'd consider playing her character again for a prequel series. Like Viggo Mortensen or Orlando Bloom, Blanchett's character doesn't exactly appear in "The Hobbit," although thanks to J.R.R. Tolkien's extensive later backstories, her insertion would be completely unproblematic. In fact, it's hard to envision a "Hobbit" film WITHOUT Galadriel, particularly if the film covers any of the period between the defeat of Smaug and the War of the Ring. Read More...

Cate BlanchettWith everyone from amateur fans to Harvard archaeologists trying to decipher the meaning behind the subtitle for the fourth Indy flick, "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," it might be worth mentioning that castmembers are as well.

"I went, 'Oh, that's what it's called, is it?'" star Cate Blanchett laughed during a recent interview with MTV News.

But while Cate wouldn't give up any details about what role the crystal skulls play in the story (or even what their supposed powers are), the Oscar-nominated actress may have let slip an equally important plot detail.

When Blanchett was originally cast it was widely assumed that she would be playing Indy's love interest. Subsequently, online reports have pegged her, not as a romantic flame, but as a nefarious foe, possibly in league with the Russians. Read More...
