Lily Collins

Lily Collins has gone from playing Snow White in the upcoming "Mirror, Mirror," to possibly kicking some undead ass in "The Evil Dead" remake.

THR reports that Collins is in "early talks" for the updating of the legendary horror-comedy that starred Bruce Campbell in the role of Ash. Bloody-Disgusting has some additional details, stating that Collins would play Mia, the lead character and a female version of Ash, who heads to a cabin in the woods with friends. They discover a Book of the Dead, demons are unleashed, and Mia's left fighting for her life. While that sounds familiar, there's also a bizarre druggie subplot, as Mia is staying at the cabin to try to overcome an addiction and heal from a recent overdose.

We'll find out more when Fede Alvarez's version hits the screen on April 12, 2013. For now, let us know what you think about the possibility of Collins being cast as a lady Ash, and dig into the rest of this week's horror news past the break!

CarrieThere's a lot of anticipation brewing in this week's Horror Bites, which reports that one upcoming remake is already causing a bloody battle between two of Hollywood's most talked about stars: Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox are both reportedly vying for the same role in a remake of "Carrie."

Meanwhile, a popular zombie tale is gearing up for production and has flesh-munching fans everywhere squirming for more. CarrieApparently today is the day for weird film-to-Broadway news. First up is "Sister Act," which EW.com says is primed to take its act to the Great White Way beginning April 20, 2011. This news is somewhat understandable, as the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg was a box-office hit, and a musical adaptation is already enjoying a lucrative run in London's West End.

On the stranger end of the stick, Deadline has confirmed that a revival of "Carrie" the musical is in the works. No, not Carrie as in the "Sex and the City" leading lady (which would actually make some sense), but Carrie as in the vengeful main character of Stephen King's book, it's acclaimed 1976 movie adaptation and its not-so-acclaimed 1988 Broadway musical version (which lost $8 million dollars in its short run).

Add that to the planned "Little Miss Sunshine" musical that was announced over the summer, the confirmed Julie Taymor "Spider-man" musical and even a Broadway version of "The Notebook," and we've got a really random array of films making their way to Broadway and not enough musicals crossing over into Hollywood (I'm looking at you, "Wicked"). Here are some films that we hope never get the musical treatment. Read More...

I mentioned in last week's posting of the "Training Day" send-up from Cinemash that it would be pretty hard to top this week's offering, which features Will Arnett and Adult Swim's Xavier: Renegade Angel taking on "Carrie." I need to retract that statement. This week's "Carrie" can't be topped. Fine, I'm an "Arrested Development" fanboy. I'm morally obligated to speak in shining terms of anyone who was involved with that series. So don't take my word for it. Listen to Cinemash creator Kashy Khaledi instead!

"Whenever Will Arnett smiles, like on 'Arrested Development' or he starts giggling, I just think it's... amazingly funny. In the movie 'Carrie,' when Carrie's onstage and she's smiling and giggling because she won the prom queen, before she gets the blood spilled on her... really, there's nothing more to it," Khaledi said in an interview with MTV contributor Jenni Miller. "Here is what I would like to see." So go click, see for yourself.

Keep it locked here to MTV Movies Blog for additional coverage of MTV's interview with Khaledi, including what his thoughts are for the next "season" and how the "Twilight" crew might factor into future outings. Remember too, starting in September you'll be able to watch these Cinemash shorts on your HDTV, via a Zune-compatible HDMI cable. A great option for sharing the hilarity with your tech-illiterate friends and family.

Shaker HeightsIt’s not every day that a high school prank hits the newswire. A high school senior in Shaker Heights, Ohio, made headlines by designing a yearbook cover that hid an a F-bomb of a farewell salute. He was forced to apologize and the school quickly recalled the yearbooks, but most seniors are holding onto their obscene copies in salute to their artistic prankster. At Shaker’s graduation ceremony last week, he was hailed as a hero of the senior class, receiving loudest applause and the most cheers of any student as he accepted his diploma.

So, to salute the hero of Shaker Heights and every other senior prankster, I’ve compiled five of the best high school movie pranks. It’s hard to narrow it down to just five because they’re a staple of comedies, drama and horror alike. Keep that genre-spanning in mind if you’re dreaming of pranking your school because for every Jeff Spicoli, there’s a Carrie White. Read More...
