After months of casting rumors that eventually squared firmly on the "psychologically" locked Spanish actor, it now appears all but certain that Bardem will step into the role of gunslinger Roland Deschain. Deadline has the news (and we say thankya) that Bardem is close enough to completing his deal that director Ron Howard is already meeting with other actors to cast roles based on Bardem's commitment to a trilogy of films and a limited television run between each movie.

Green DayIt’s been five years since Green Day’s multi-platinum, Grammy-winning album “American Idiot” came out, but work on the material is still very alive. A musical adaptation is set to debut at California’s Berkeley Repertory Theater in September and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong continues to push for developing the disc’s post-9/11 stories for the big screen. And he wants to do it in an unexpected way.

"I thought 'American Idiot' had a lot in common with something like 'Rocky Horror Picture Show,'" Billie Joe told The Associated Press. "It would great to see a film made out of it someday too." Read More...

As someone who believes that Samuel L. Jackson is a national treasure, I spend all day watching clips like these, showing the actor’s best yelling scenes. Now, it seems, he has a new co-star who might want to invest in a good pair of earplugs.

MTV News has learned that “Matrix” star Carrie-Anne Moss is the newest addition to “Unthinkable,” a psychological drama set in post-9/11 America. Directed by Gregor Jordan (the man behind the criminally-underrated Joaquin Phoenix flick “Buffalo Soldiers”), filming begins on the flick next month.

“Carrie-Anne Moss,” Jackson revealed when he asked him which other stars were joining the cast. “It’s about a guy who’s planted three nuclear devices in three different cities in America, and we’re trying to find out where they are.” Read More...
