Bijou PhillipsWhat do you do when you've already established the most substantial genre-movie career this side of Roger Corman, the studios are still calling, and your 70th birthday is staring you in the face? Well, if you're Larry Cohen, you start all over again.

"The next movie coming out will be 'It's Alive,' the remake of my 1974 movie that we just remade with Bijou Phillips," the writer/director/producer told us recently. "It's a 2008 version with a lot of updating - new stuff, new gags. We filmed it in Bulgaria."

The original "It's Alive" is a guilty masterpiece, starring the creepiest baby since Maggie Simpson's uni-browed arch-enemy. Cohen said that the new Davis offspring will be equally terrifying, but will be aided with some modern CGI techniques that will allow it to come out of the stroller more often. "It'll be a CGI baby; that's why we did it," Cohen said of the flick, which is directed by Josef Rusnak ("The Thirteenth Floor") and co-stars James Murray and Raphael Coleman ("Nanny McPhee"). Elisha CuthbertWhile most actresses aren't drawn to anxiety-ridden film roles, sex-kitten starlet Elisha Cuthbert has often seemed to prefer it that way. Now, the face of the torture flick "Captivity" and on-again, off-again "24” sidekick is ready for something different...but still won't rule out a Bauer family reunion.

"I don't like to play characters that are one note, and just the attractive girl in the film," Cuthbert told us recently. "That's why I'm drawn to these very high suspense films, like '24’ and 'House of Wax' and now ['Captivity']." Amidst all these thrillers, Cuthbert has been searching for a role that doesn't have her playing the mundane object of someone's affection - and with her recently-wrapped flick, she claims, she found it. Have you seen those pulled posters for "Captivity"? See them as sadistic, or violent, or maybe even wildly inappropriate? Well you ain't seen nothing yet, promised the film's star Elisha Cuthbert when talking to MTV News.

"I'm a model that gets [held] captive and gets locked in a room, wakes up in a cell and doesn't know what day it is or how long she's been there. She just gets tormented the entire time," Cuthbert said of the horror flick's plot. "I get buried in sand up over my head. [It's] scary. Really scary."

Blame the filmmakers or the stars if you like, but Cuthbert insists that there's an audience for this kind of flick. "There's some really brutal stuff in this film, but I think that's what audiences are waiting for now," she asserted. "'Saw,' 'Hostel,' all these movies have really raised the bar as far as horror movies go, and we had to get up there ourselves."

Still, it's not a genre Cuthbert is going to be hanging around in long. "My Sassy Girl," a romantic comedy Cuthbert joked was like "a mix between 'Big Fish' and 'When Harry Met Sally'" comes out later this year. "It's about a guy that falls for a girl that's completely off her rocker and out of her mind," she said. "It's a really beautiful film."

"Captivity" recently made the news rounds when its studio foisted MPAA-unsanctioned billboards around the country featuring its star Elisha Cuthbert in bound/torture scenarios.

Will the end result live up to the massive hype? We'll find out when it hits theaters on June 22, but for now you can check out its new trailer below.
