Warmoth is out today and, with him, Twitter-Wood's enduring fondness for former "Full House" stars. Nothing against Saget, Stamos and Coulier... but your regular Twitter-Wood contributor is their champion here. He'll be back tomorrow, so have no fear: "Full House" will live on at MTV Movies Blog.

So what's up today on the feed? Well, for starters "The State" veteran David Wain, currently in Sicily, had someone snap a super-cool photo of him. It was enough to edge out Paris Hilton's own photo, of a bunch of fancy cakes that she was sent. Presumably for free. In the world of text-only Tweets, Rainn Wilson dropped some knowledge about Pfizer and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Amber Benson revealed that she has a special connection with pigeons, especially the anorexic ones. "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli also had a pigeon run-in, while bird-watching for the elusive Twitter Bird. Meanwhile, Idris Elba found something legitimately funny to laugh about with the approaching hurricane and Neil Gaiman confirmed that he is, in fact, alive. I'm @geminibros and this is your Twitter-Wood for September 3, 2009. Read more...

James MarstersAre you a fan of both “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Battlestar Galactica”? How about "MADtv"? If so, then your TV-watching dreams have come true with a casting announcement that links all three series'. Let's start with the whopper: James Marsters, who played fan-favorite Spike on “Buffy” and its spin-off “Angel,” has joined the cast of “Caprica,” an upcoming Syfy show that’s a prequel to the recently finished “Battlestar.”

Marsters will play a villain named Barnabus Greeley, described as a dangerous and unpredictable terrorist torn by his conflicting moral and carnal desires. The character appears to exist outside of the show’s primary focus, which is on two rival families: the Graystones and the Adamas (headed by Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales, respectively). Considering the actor’s appeal and sizable fanbase, it’s sure to be a major role. Read more...

Hi readers! I hate to harp, but I'm going to hit you with a brief PSA before diving in with today's Prop-Watch post. Just so we're all crystal clear, these posts are not intended for serious collectors. There are numerous online resources you can use to educate yourselves on the art and science of prop collecting. Think of this space as a place to find cool crap, stuff you probably never would buy even if you had a spare $10,000 to drop on something completely frivolous. Got it? I'm looking at you out there in the peanut gallery. Good!

Today's Prop-Watch selection comes from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The cool one, from TV mastermind Joss Whedon and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. This prop was actually worn by Gellar, albeit in only one episode. Not an episode I've seen, but I'm guessing some of you "Buffy" fans will be pretty psyched. Read more...

Amber BensonFROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: She may be best know as Tara Meers on the series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” but Amber Benson (left, with Sarah Michelle Gellar) has since become an accomplished writer. She has written and produced her own films, written several comics and she and co-writer Christopher Golden created the popular BBC series “Albion.” Now, she’s taking her first solo-flight as a novelist with “Death’s Daughter,” which is book one of a trilogy.

During a book signing at Midtown Comics in Times Square, we had the chance to about her new book and its interesting protagonist, a sarcastic young woman named Calliope Reaper-Jones. Amber told Hollywood Crush, “Basically, it’s about a girl who’s father is Death. [Death as a force] is run like a corporation. He’s the president and CEO. And he gets kidnapped and [Calliope] has to come and run the company and find out what happened to her dad. But she’s like a normal girl and she doesn’t want any part of the supernatural world.”

Meryl StreepJust as everyone has an opinion, a favorite meal and a nose — albeit a fake one at times — so too does everyone have a birthday. Even celebrities. Here at Birthday Bash, it’s my mission to salute the fine actors, filmmakers and other Hollywood heroes that are celebrating their special day this week. After all, it’s cheaper than mailing a cake.

It's week two at Birthday Bash and we're lighting the candles for the following three film personalities... Read more...

Joss WhedonFROM SPLASH PAGE: It’s a fairly wide consensus in geekdom that nobody wants a new “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” film unless series mastermind Joss Whedon is allowed full creative control (or at least serious consultation privileges). But as it turns out, Whedon himself isn’t all that interested.

Whedon spoke with Entertainment Weekly’s PopWatch about the hotly-contested “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” film relaunch — rumored to be an interpretation of the character that not only purports to ignore Whedon’s continuity, but is being developed without Whedon’s participation. Still, that’s not to say that the producers behind the upcoming film didn’t reach out to Whedon… eventually.

It’s a question that has plagued TV-lovers for generations: what happens to all those canceled TV shows and their beloved characters when they vanish into pop culture oblivion? These days, they’re either relegated to DVD box sets or -- if they’re lucky -- they move on up to the big screen. To see a show that you’ve loved and lost make it to into movie form is pretty much every fan’s dream. So long as it's done right.

I get why fans of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV series have been up in arms since news broke that the franchise will make its way to theaters without the help of show creator Josh Weldon. The news kind of sucks for "Buffy" fans, but it got me thinking of all the other shows I love and miss. Read more...

Joss WhedonReally folks. What would we do without Michael Ausiello? The dude pulls out some fantastic scoops on his Entertainment Weekly TV blog, The Ausiello Files. Take today. We all learned that another "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie is in the works, and that it will draw it's primary inspiration from the original 1992 movie, the one starring Kristy Swanson. Not Joss Whedon's much-loved TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.

It kinda sorta makes no sense, right? There are reasons of course. This latest "Buffy" initiative is being spearheaded by the movie's director, Fran Rubel Kuzui. You should go back and read this morning's update on the subject if you want more details. The key point I want you all to walk away with is that "Buffy" TV fans are in an uproar over Whedon's apparent non-involvement in the coming movie. Read more...

Buffy the Vampire SlayerWith vampire boyfriends on everyone's wish list, it's not surprising that Hollywood looks to reviving one of its legendary slayers. Not that we would mind of course, as who doesn'twant Buffy to return and save us from the undead? The real question is: does anyone want Buffy without her creator, Joss Whedon?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there are plans to bring Buffy back to the big screen without Whedon's participation. Instead, it will be a relaunch handled by the director of the 1992 film, Fran Rubel Kuzui, and her husband Kaz Kuzui, along with
Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment. It would have no connection to Whedon's legendary television series, or to its comic book continuation, but would instead "reboot" the story from the very beginning in order to not upset the series' diehard fans. Read more...

James MarstersIn one corner, the bleached blonde "Buffy" vampire punk. In the other, the mysterious Edward Cullen of "Twilight" fame. So what happens when vampires clash and only one can be left standing? For that, we turned to James Marsters -- who played Spike for seven years on both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" and who stars as Lord Piccolo in April 10th's "Dragonball: Evolution."

"I'm not aware of a split," said Marsters diplomatically, explaining that there's definitely crossover between "Buffy" and "Twilight" fans including he himself who has read the "Twilight" books with his family.

"My niece started 'Twilight' and she was convinced that Edward was based on Spike," Marsters laughed, "I thought that was fabulous. I'm her guardian and that's just fine if she thinks that way." Read more...
