Brandon Routh in 'Superman Returns'We've devoted quite a lot of space in the last few months to news on the "Justice League of America": Who wants in, who wants out, who was in AND out - but after all the discussion over DC's tag-team effort, we wanted the final word on what the flick meant for that other project they were also supposed to be working on, you know the solo one with old Super what's his name.

Apparently the last people we should have asked were the actors involved.

"I know nothing. I saw one article about 'Justice League' being made, and I thought well, how's that going to affect the future of [Superman]?" James Marsden, who played Richard White in Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns" confessed to MTV News. "So I have no idea. I really don't."

Ok, fine. If Marsden couldn't give up the goods we thought maybe his on-screen dad could - being a fellow journalist and all for "The Daily Planet." So Mr. Perry White - will there be another Bryan Singer "Superman"? Read more...

Kenneth Branagh in 'Valkyrie'Here at the MTV Movie's Blog we've had a lot of fun in recent months with silly "What Ifs:" What if Brian De Palma directed "Spider Man"? What if David Cronenberg directed "Return of the Jedi"?

But talking about his new film "Valkyrie," Kenneth Branagh has a what if for us that's anything but silly: What if Hitler had been assassinated before the end of WWII?

"One feels the weight of that [question]," Branagh sighed. "The near misses, a last minute replacement of a bomb behind a wooden oak table leg that meant the course of the 20th century changed. Everything would have changed."

It's a question that Branagh admitted to spending a lot of time thinking about ever since he joined Tom Cruise on the Bryan Singer film, which follows Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg and a tight band of resistance fighters as they attempt to kill Hitler, an assassination attempt known to history as the July 20 Plot. Anthony Hopkins"Superman Returns" helmer Bryan Singer split the fan community when he opted to cast a CGI Marlon Brando in the part of Jor-El -- the same role Brando held in the classic 1978 flick -- but did you know the part was originally destined for another legendary actor? Of course, that was when the film was also destined for another director.

Before Singer's involvement, the project seemed firmly in the hands of "Rush Hour" chieftain Brett Ratner, who had come far enough along with development that he attached none other than Anthony Hopkins as Jor-El, Superman's old man on Krypton. Unfortunately for everyone on the team though, things hit a snag.

"I was going to do the movie with Brett, and I don't know what happened," Hopkins recalled. Read more...
