Justin BieberLet's face it: you're a little bit intrigued by the new Justin Bieber documentary "Never Say Never." If you're like me, it's all those cute little baby videos that sucked you in from the first trailer. Or if you're like Channing Tatum, it's because you understand that it's an inevitability. Still, the reviews are positive so far and it's supposed to be a great 3D experience.

"Never Say Never" is poised for a big box office weekend, and that will make it the second 3D documentary about a major performing artist in a year to bring home bucketloads of cast. The first, of course, was the Michael Jackson doc "This Is It" directed by Kenny Ortega. And, though they weren't documentaries, the concert films "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both World Concert" and "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience" also went on to achieve great success in theaters. To me, that's not a fluke... it's a trend.

Needless to say, there are plenty of other documentaries about our favorite musicians that could project themselves in three dimensions, and we think the following music docs should come soon to a theater near you!

Bruce Springsteen performs at the 2009 Super BowlFirst, he made Miley Cyrus jump off the screen and into our laps. Currently, he’s bringing the Jonas Brothers in all their shirtless glory to fans. So, which musical act is director Bruce Hendricks hoping to make a 3D concert film about next?

“I saw Springsteen at the Super Bowl,” Hendricks revealed to MTV when we caught up with the filmmaker recently. “I’d love to do him.”

Bruce Springsteen’s energy, stage antics and die-hard fanbase would seem to make him an ideal target for the next big 3D concert flick. It would be quite a departure, however, for the genre that has until now focused mainly on youth-oriented artists. Read More...
