Sure, this weekend's premiere of "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" features the return of Connor and Murphy McManus, Il Duce and the rest of Boston's favorite movie vigilantes, but when I asked around for some questions to ask the film's director and stars when they dropped by Movies Blog HQ, there was one element from the first film everyone was asking about for the sequel: the rope.

Fans of the original film will no doubt recall the brothers' oft-quoted, obscenity-laden debate regarding the merits of bringing rope to their showdown with a mob boss—and according to director Troy Duffy and stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and Billy Connolly, the rope is indeed back by popular demand. It's been 10—count 'em, 10!—years since brothers Connor and Murphy McManus kicked off their quest to rid Boston of evildoers in director Troy Duffy's "The Boondock Saints," and now the city's vigilante duo are strapping on their guns (and rope) for the sequel to the cult-classic film.

"Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day" hits theaters October 30, reuniting actors Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as the McManus brothers, along with Billy Connolly, who reprises his role as their long-lost father (the mysterious and lethal "Il Duce"). Even with a decade between them and their debut as the McManus siblings, Flanery and Reedus told MTV News it was easy to slip back into character—as easy as putting on a pea coat and slinging some rope over their shoulders, in fact.

"You put on the pea coats and all that and it's sort of deja vu," said Reedus. "doing this film, the second one, is like coming back home in a way." Read More...

The definition of just what makes a cult hit has changed in the ten years since Troy Duffy made "The Boondock Saints". The ubiquity of the Internet and the coming-of-age of a generation weaned on the copious amount of very specific information it offers has given almost every piece of media, film or other, its very own cult following.

By information, I mean easier access and smaller audiences. When you say a movie earned itself a cult following by "word of mouth" in 2009, you're typically saying that it fostered early hype thanks to a small but vocal online community, further cultivated through viral marketing. "The Boondock Saints" was the real deal, one of the very last cult movies to find its audience through literal word of mouth. Read More...

The Daily TwitPic for this morning is very cool, one of those unusual works of short-lived art that you only see around Halloween. Some crafty fan of "Boondock Saints," the sequel for which --"Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" -- hits theaters this Friday, took a blade to a pumpkin and carved out a loving tribute to the cult classic. The results are pretty outstanding. So much so that Sean Patrick Flanery re-tweeted the work out to his many followers.

If you're a fan of pumpkin art, be sure to keep reading Hollywood Crush all this week. Fans of "Twilight" have been challenged to take a crack at creating the best "Twi"-themed "Rob O'Lantern" that they can, with impressive results so far from finalists one and two. And of course, hit the jump right here to check out the crazy "Boondock"-themed work below. Read More...

Last week's poll was strange, as it did not really reflect this weekend's box office. The bulk of you picked "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant," which saw an 8th place weekend finish and only $6.3 million in ticket sales. "Saw VI" was a close second, and that at least performed well in the number two spot with $14.8 million earned. But the big weekend winner was the low-budg horror flick "Paranormal Activity," directed by Oren Peli, which nabbed $22 million.

The success of this movie has been nothing short of staggering. Last week, with less than 1000 screens running "Paranormal Activity," the movie finished out the weekend at number three with $20 million in ticket sales. Peli's got some stiff competition this week however, as you'll learn soon enough in this week's Box Office Poll. Can found footage ghosts hope to topple a fond farewell to fallen pop star Michael Jackson? Read More...

"The Boondock Saints," the original film released in 1999, is a strange beast. It was not well-received by critics but has since built up a sizable cult following. It's one of those "love it or hate it" movies, a stylish crime thriller that surfaced in the wake of Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs." Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus star as fraternal twins, Irish Americans who strike out as vigilantes after they cross the Russian Mafia.

Now there's a sequel coming, "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day," with director Troy Duffy returning alongside the rest of the key players: Flanery, Reedus, Billy Connolly and David Della Rocco. The sequel finds the brothers MacManus hiding out in Ireland from their bloody past. Boston isn't quite finished with them however; the duo returns to right a wrong after they receive word of a murdered priest. You can follow the continuing adventures of the MacManus brothers when "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" hits theaters on October 30. Hit the jump for the hot new poster and a trio of stills. -- The Sundance Film Festival will add the Next section for next year's gathering. The category will showcase six to eight films which make "innovative and original" use of low-/no-budget features. I wonder if "District 9" would have made the cut. (Variety)
