It might not be present at Comic-Con like its HBO siblings "Game of Thrones" and "True Blood," but "Boardwalk Empire" is still giving us reason to celebrate. HBO has announced that the third season of the Steve Buscemi-starring TV series will return to the network on September 16.

The press release issued by HBO promises that season three will continue chronicling "the life and times of 'Nucky' Thompson, the undisputed leader of Atlantic City" in 12 new episodes. But just how tenuous will Nucky's undisputed reign be this season? After the death of a certain character at the end of season two, it will be interesting to see where season three picks up.

Star Wars Wedding

Who knew that Admiral Ackbar was a married man? Honestly, I would have taken a 2-hour long domestic drama starring Ackbar than watch one second of Gungan banter.

Also, a new fake trailer destroys every movie cliche ever and Steve Carell delivers a fantastic commencement speech in today's Dailies!

InceptionIt seems like one of the biggest qualms with this year's Oscar nominations was the omission of Christopher Nolan from the Best Director category. Sure, "Inception" landed eight Oscar nominations, but most of them were in the technical categories instead of the acting or directing categories.

That means that the two biggest nominations "Inception" is up for at this year's Oscars are for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. It might be tough for "Inception" to win Best Picture with "The Social Network" and "The King's Speech" as the continued frontrunners, but now it doesn't seem as big of a long shot for the film to beat out "The Fighter" and "The Kids Are All Right" for Best Original Screenplay.

Over the weekend, the Writer's Guild of America honored Nolan with the Best Original Screenplay prize, which many critics believed to be a minor upset. So far, "Inception" has only won awards for its screenplay in smaller venues like the Online Film Critics Society Awards and regional awards ceremonies. At the Golden Globes, it was beat out of the Best Screenplay race by "The Social Network," who also won the WGA award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Winter is coming, and we have never been more excited to freeze our butts off. If you were watching HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" last night, you were already treated to these two awesome sneak peeks at "Game of Thrones" but if you missed them then grab some tissues because you're about to drool all over yourself. Can you handle the Dinklage?

The first clip is a teaser of the series, which introduces us to all the major players in this game of thrones. There's Eddard Stark (Sean Bean), who is honorable to a fault. He explains to his son Bran why he had to behead a man that deserted his post at their Northern Wall. "The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword," he said, hoping some of his own good intentions would pass on to his children. But Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) also points out one of Ned's major flaws in the teaser -- "You were trained to follow" -- letting us know that there might be some chinks in this northern lord's armor. Will SmithIf you were one of the millions who fell for the Will Smith rom-com "Hitch" back in 2005, we've got some good news for you: Following a bidding war with multiple networks Fox has landed the rights to adapt "Hitch" into an hour-long small-screen series, Deadline reports.

"Hitch" is just the latest film to get the television treatment. Last year, "10 Things I Hate About You" made its short-lived television debut, it was announced that "The Time Traveler's Wife" would be hitting the small screen soon (though it looks as though nothing ever came of that), and more recently "Goodfellas" was optioned following the success of "Boardwalk Empire."

So what does "Hitch" have that those other projects don't? A formulaic plot, for one, that could easily be turned into an hour-long sitcom lasting several seasons. For those of you who need a refresher, the film followed Smith as date doctor who makes all his own mistakes when falling for Eva Mendes. But there are plenty of other great films out there that could probably do just as well -- if not better -- than the four previously announced adaptations. After the jump, check out our picks for a few recent flicks we'd love to see on the boob tube. Read More...

It's hard not to credit this weekend's complete success of the premiere episode of "Boardwalk Empire" (come on, it was renewed for a second season after just one episode) to the stream of gangster-style television shows and movies that are now being publicly sought after. The most exciting of these is easily the series version of "Goodfellas" that Deadline announced yesterday.

Considering "Goodfellas" director Martin Scorsese's involvement in "Boardwalk Empire," it's hard not to imagine that he might be willing to work on a televised version of his hit crime drama. However, the fact he is so involved in "Boardwalk Empire" might also be a major detriment to his involvement with "Goodfellas," because they could potentially become competing shows. The one person who is planning to be involved in this project is screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi, who will write at least the pilot episode. Read More...
