I'd like to start this post off with a hearty heap of praise and admiration for one Bill Hader. This is an actor and comedian with such crazy talent, it blows my mind he's not a massive star. Yet. To quote the great Mindy Kaling and her hilarious Twitter account: "God, when is Bill Hader going to be Bridesmaid'ed or Sarah Marshall'ed? He's the f---ing best and I never swear on twitter."

Anyway! We can be happy about the fact that Hader is a very busy man and has multiple projects in the works, outside of his brilliance on "Saturday Night Live." When MTV News ran into him at the "Super 8" premiere last week, I asked him if there was any truth to his IMDb'assigned role in "Ghostbusters 3."

"I don't know anything about that," he said about the long-delayed, long-rumored third "Ghostbusters" film. "I hear the same way you did. No joke, my friend called me and said, 'Dude, it says you're in Ghostbusters 3?' I'm like, 'I am?' I went online and saw it, [and thoght] 'Thats great.' So yeah, I know nothing."

The 2008 comedy smash "Tropic Thunder" spawned some memorable characters, to say the least. From Robert Downey Jr.'s very method actor Kirk Lazarus to Jack Black's drug-fueled Jeff Portnoy, there could have been any number of characters from the film that earned their own spin-off movie.

Of course, since no one in the industry has quite the same pull as "Tropic Thunder's" sleazy, rap enthusiast movie honcho Les Grossman (played by a transformed Tom Cruise), there's no surprise that it's him.

When MTV News caught up with "Saturday Night Live" funny man Bill Hader at the first-ever Comedy Awards (which air Sunday, April 10 at 8p.m. on Comedy Central, VH1, Spike TV, Logo, CMT, TVLand, and online at thecomedyawards.com) he told us that the Les movie is written and is getting closer to arriving in theaters.

Hader, who appeared in a few Les Grossman skits in anticipation for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, confirmed that his friend, actor/writer Michael Bacall (who previously penned "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" and is currently working on the upcoming remake of "Fright Night") "wrote it and he's told me some really funny scenes from it."

While Hader admitted he was vague on the details of what the plot for the movie based on Cruise's loud, boorish exec would actually be about ("I just know the broad strokes. Michael just telling me, 'I just wrote this scene where blah, blah, blah and I'm like, 'Oh, that's funny, man!'") or when it would finally make it to theaters (Cruise will be busy with "Rock of Ages" soon) he was sure of one thing, "It's gonna be great."

"Black Swan" and Jim Carrey might not sound like the ideal pairing of actor and material, but thanks to the "I Love You Phillip Morris" star's hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live," we now know that it's a match made in comedy heaven. Carrey spoofed Mila Kunis as Lily, aka the titular black swan, in a short, while Bill Hader played ballet instructor Tomas and Nasim Pedrad played Natalie Portman's Nina.

Let's just say that Carrey's Lily convinced us in several different ways that "she" was the best choice for the black swan. Somewhere between the buffalo wing tattoos on Carrey's back, the way he said "bitches" and the way he ate breadcrumbs (you know, like a real swan), we fell in love. Read More...

PaulIt's hard to put our collective Movies Blog finger down on what exactly it is we love so much about the new "Paul" trailer.

Maybe it's the clear, loving homage to "2001: A Space Odyssey" at the beginning of the trailer when this film is an extra-terrestrial movie that's anything but. Maybe it's the way Seth Rogen's voice is so perfectly suited for this tiny rude green alien. Or maybe it's just that we're happy to see Simon Pegg and Nick Frost back together again.

Regardless of the reason, the "Paul" trailer has hit the web courtesy of Yahoo UK, and it's pretty freaking fantastic. In addition to our three heroes, Kristen Wiig joins the team to help protect Paul, and ends up having some romantic moments with Pegg in the meantime. And then there's Jason Bateman as a special agent out to capture and presumably kill Paul for setting foot on planet Earth. And is that Sigourney Weaver's voice we hear as his commander? It sure is! Fight For Your Right RevisitedThey fought for their right to party in hilarious movies like "Stepbrothers," "Pineapple Express," "School of Rock" and "Pedicab Confessions" (hey, it counts!). And now Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Jack Blackand Elijah Wood are teaming up to star in "Fight For Your Right Revisited," a short film written and directed by Beastie Boy Adam "MCA" Yauch. The flick will premiere at Sundance in the spring. And we thought Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis were a comedy dream team!

A recently released still of the film shows Wood as Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz, Rogen as Mike "Mike D" Diamond and McBride as Yauch. No word yet on who Ferrell, Reilly and Black will be playing, but if this video is just a remake of the Beastie's original 1986 video for "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party)," then my vote's on Black as Ric Menello. Anna Faris"Ghostbusters 3" might not have a finished script, a green light or a director, but it certainly is gathering quite the cast.

Indiewire reports that in an interview with Chicago radio station WGN, scribe and original Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd confirmed some of the casting rumors that have been swirling around for the past few months. According to Aykroyd, "SNL" funnyman Bill Hader is a "strong possibility" to star in the film, and Aykroyd is also banking on the participation of Anna Faris and Eliza Dushku.

Those three are added to the list of the previously on-board Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver. Aykroyd didn't mention whether Will Forte or original cast members Rick Moranis and Ernie Hudson, who were all rumored to have cameos, might be in for the film... but we wouldn't rule them out just yet. If anything's clear, it's that Aykroyd knows who he's gonna call when he needs some onscreen backup. Read More...

I tried to transcribe the below video, I really did. We're all about showing and telling here at MTV News. But the odd sort of rapport that exists between "Paul" stars Bill Hader and Joe Lo Truglio is best experienced live and in living color. Just know that in the below video, the following topics are discussed:

(1) Sex with E.T.'s mom
(2) The broad lexicon of Steven Spielberg's work, from "Close Encounters" and "Sugarland Express" to "Hook" and "The Terminal"
(3) Matt Damon and his super-hot granddaughter
(4) "The Color Purple"
(5) Kristen Wiig in a red dress being incinerated

Although he'd been dormant since his 2007 appearance in "Tropic Thunder," the abrasive, overbearing mega-producer Les Grossman is back in a big way thank to his appearance at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. And he's pals with Tom Cruise, so that helps. It was learned shortly after the Movie Awards that Grossman made such a splash he's getting his very own movie. MTV's Josh Horowitz spoke to "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World" actor Bill Hader at San Diego Comic-Con last week -- Hader has a part-time gig as Grossman's assistant -- and he was more than happy to share an update on the status of the planned comedy.

"As I know right now, Mike Bacall, who co-wrote 'Scott Pilgrim,' is working on a script for a Les Grossman movie," he said. "I actually just saw [Bacall] last night and he was like, 'I've been writing for you!' We'll see if anything happens with that, but that would be a lot of fun." Read More...

Bill Hader-- Take this as a rumor I guess. Even though it really isn't. In an interview, "Saturday Night Live" castie Bill Hader revealed that he's read the script for the upcoming "MacGruber" movie. The verdict? It's a "hard-R" rating sort of affair. Sweet. (Vulture)

-- The lineup for the 2009 edition of the New York Film Festival has been revealed. Highlights include Pedro Almodovar's "Broken Embrace," Sundance winner "Precious" from director Lee Daniels, Michael Haneke's Cannes Palme d'Or winner "The White Ribbon" and Lars Von Trier's controversial art-horror flick "Antichrist." Seth RogenA new movie from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is always something to be excited about -- but if they recruit every pants-wettingly funny actor in existence to join them, then it may just be akin to a religious experience. We'll find out soon, because Variety reports that Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Jane Lynch have joined the cast of "Paul."

Directed by Greg Mottola ("Superbad," "Adventureland") and written by Pegg and Frost, "Paul" centers on two British comic book geeks who are enjoying a road trip to Comic-Con. Whether they accidentally happen upon Area 51 or go out of their way to visit it is unclear at this point, but they wind up befriending a small, escaped alien named Paul. Cue comic and extraterrestrial mayhem (but the good kind, not the "Howard the Duck" ugliness) as the two geeks help the little alien find his way home. Read More...
