OprahToday's a day for saying goodbye in the mysterious land of Twitter-Wood. (Not for us, mind you — we're not going anywhere!) The Oprah Winfrey Show comes to an end today after 25 seasons on the air, and while many people across the globe are mourning the show's conclusion, many stars and celebs are marking the occasion with their tongue firmly in cheek.

Meanwhile, longtime "Law & Order: SVU" actor Christopher Meloni is reportedly exiting the show, leaving his fans (and some of his colleagues) in shock. But the saddest and most surprising news of all is the death of CNBC news anchor Mark Haines, who passed away unexpectedly at his home yesterday evening; his loss is marked in today's Twitter-Wood as well.

But there's happier news today, too. Two more people have discovered the awesome power of "Bridesmaids," while the long-awaited "American Reunion" finally enters production, with Stifler's mom firmly in tow.

I'm @roundhoward and this is Twitter-Wood for May 25, 2011.

The '80s were a decade filled with mix tapes, roller rinks and hanging out at Dairy Queen, an era when big hair, ridiculously tiny shorts, handlebar mustaches and keg parties reigned supreme, a last gasp of the simple life before advances in industry and technology changed society forever. In other words -- to quote Charles Dickens -- they were the best of times AND the worst of times.

All of that is captured in last year's Sundance favorite "Skateland," a poignant indie about friends growing up in a small Texas town, grappling with family problems and the uncertainties of their own future, and trying to guzzle a few more beers before they reluctantly take on the responsibilities of adulthood. It's also a film in which "Twilight" star Ashley Greene shows off her quite formidable dramatic acting chops and a solid fashion sense to boot, despite the 1980s' unfortunate obsession with leg warmers and perms. Check out the exclusive "Skateland" trailer premiere below!

Greene stars as Michelle, one of the aforementioned friends who spends her days cruising around town, listening to '80s tunes and hitting up house parties with BFF Ritchie Wheeler (Shiloh Fernandez), a talented writer who seems content to work at the titular Skateland roller rink (probably because he's got the perfect last name for it), and her older brother Brent (Heath Freeman), a pro motocross racer who's recently returned home to while away the days in a state of perpetual drunkenness. Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger TidesThe Internet Movie Database has compiled its list of the top 25 (and top 100) most searched stars in 2010, and if there's anything that it shows it's that the "Twilight Saga" stars might actually be going out of style. While Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson still sit happily at the #2 and #3 spots (respectively), Taylor Lautner tumbled from the #5 spot in 2009 down to the #14 spot this year, Dakota Fanning went from #8 to #18, and Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed fell off the list entirely. (Greene dropped to #52 in the top 100 while Reed joined co-stars Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli somewhere outside the top hundy.)

But does that really mean anything for the series? Probably not, considering Daniel Radcliffe is nowhere to be see on the list, Emma Watson dropped from #53 to #64, and Rupert Grint was never on it at all, yet "Harry Potter" continues to dominate in the box office. Maybe the reason why the "Twilight" stars were searched less is because 90 percent of the global movie-loving audience can now recite their filmographies from memory, but you never know.

Unsurprisingly, the top spot on IMDb's list goes to Johnny Depp, taking that honor for the sixth time. Considering Depp's won in the past without having any movies come out that year, the release of "Alice in Wonderland," "The Tourist" and the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" trailer made this one Depp's to lose. Find out who else made the cut after the jump. Read more...

Proof that Dane Cook and Christian Slater are indeed starring in "Guns, Girls & Gambling" found its way to Twitter-Wood today. Cook posted a pic into the mix, which also included some "Harold and Kumar" updates from Jon Hurwitz, James Gunn discussing Ellen Page's character in "Super" and a suggestion for Mel Gibson from Aziz Ansari.

Elsewhere, while the world was watching to see if BP's oil leak solution was working, Horatio Sanz announced another less family-friendly problem that's emerged. You can find out what that was after the jump alongside Wes Craven's warning to unwanted photographers.

Lindsay LohanSlams and jokes flew fiercely in Twitter-Wood today, what with Levi Johnston's public apology to the Palin family and Lindsay Lohan's sentencing. Kim Kardashian contributed some positivity to the situation, though, sending good vibes to Lohan.

Elsewhere, no one was tweeting good things about the heat wave in the U.S. — at least no one in my feed. You can check out what Ashley Greene and Mark Webber think about the weather after the jump along with Edi Gathegi's travel plans, what Alison Brie's been having to do for "Scream 4" and a photo from a day in the life of Wil Wheaton.

Toy Story 3Did "Toy Story 3" frighten you? Well, one notable director got the heebie-jeebies from it, and his identity may surprise you. In the meantime, director Lee Unkrich posted a shot of Woody as he might have looked in the film if circumstances had been different.

Everyone in "Eclipse" is probably very satisfied with things just the way they are in regards to their movie's performance. Ashley Greene in particular had to share how she feels with everyone. You can see her audience shout-out after the jump along with what Olivia Wilde did for July 4 and who got to sit on Ricky Gervais' lap.

UPDATE: It's been brought to my attention that Ms. Greene was never actually confirmed for the role, only rumored. While it is nonetheless likely that the actress won't be announcing much until the "Breaking Dawn" dates are set, there's really no mystery here, no replacement. Emma Roberts is in, very likely as Jill Prescott, and she's not replacing anyone.

There's been a lot of movement in the world of "Scream 4 over the past few weeks. The cast is growing, with Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin and Lake Bell confirmed for roles. "Twilight" star Ashley Greene was confirmed in the same report, to be playing Sidney Prescott's (Neve Campbell) niece Jill, but a new casting development suggests there's been a change.

Late yesterday, "Hotel For Dogs" star Emma Roberts was revealed as a cast member for an unconfirmed role, but one that sources identified as... Jill. Greene's character. The "Twilight" star's agent responded to MTV's inquiries with a "No comment." I speculate that if Greene has indeed abandoned the "Scream" sequel, it's because she'll soon be need on the set of another high-profile movie: "Breaking Dawn." What do you readers think?

Scream 4 CastingWith the “Scream 4” production's July start date fast approaching, Wes Craven is getting down to business and trying to nab some hot young stars so the “Scream” alum can hand off the franchise to a new generation. As we reported earlier, Lake Bell is currently in negotiations to join the cast and Ashley Greene, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin have all been offered key parts.

With Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox set to reprise their roles from the original three films, these new characters clearly must have a connection to one, if not all, of our old friends from Woodsboro. If the deals go through, the most direct of the bunch will be Greene’s character, Jill. Not only is she Sidney Prescott’s cousin, but she’ll also be assuming the role of the film’s leading lady. Panettiere’s role is Jill’s best friend, a major movie geek, and Culkin would play Jill’s love interest. The closest to sealing the deal is Bell, who will play a police officer Sidney knows from her high school days. Read more...

While it's looking like "Dreamgirls" director Bill Condon might land the directing gig for "Breaking Dawn" -- which, let's be honest, hasn't actually been formally announced by Summit (of course it's happening, but still...) -- that didn't stop "Twilight" star Ashley Greene from giving MTV her thoughts on all three candidates, Condon plus Gus Van Sant and Sofia Coppola. For Condon? "I think if he were to direct, I'd be right there in his ear going, 'So you know, I used to dance and I can sing.'" Hear more from Greene in the video below, then check out the full report on MTV.com.

I'm pretty excited for this horror movie "The Apparition." It features "Twilight" star Ashley Greene, "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton and Sebastian Stan, who shows up in this week's surefire comedy hit "Hot Tub Time Machine." There's not a whole lot known about the movie, but that's a solid lineup. Greene is certainly excited about the gig, as she told MTV's Josh Horowitz in a recent interview.

"That has been one of the most incredible experiences," she said. After South By Southwest, Greene headed back for the final stretch of shooting. And it's clear in the way she talks about the movie that she can't wait for us all to see it. Read more...
