There are official "Arrested Development" offices set up. The cast and crew have parking spaces. According to writer Dean Lorey, "we're really doing this thing."

"This thing" of course refers to the planned 10-episode-into-a-movie "Arrested Development" project that Netflix agreed to finance last year. Lorey took to his blog to say that he and fellow writers Mitch Hurwitz and Jim Vallely are currently writing the new season of "Arrested Development" which is set to premiere on Netflix in 2013. And that's the best news we've heard in a long time.

Rumors of a post-series movie were sparked almost immediately after the TV show ended its run in 2006. It's taken six years, but now the full cast is on board and planning on filming the additional content over the summer. According to Hurwitz, who is the show's creator, the 10-episode series will catch audiences up-to-date on what the Bluth family has been up to over the past half a decade and will act as a lead-up to the feature film.

Arrested Development

The Bluth family's master plan to reclaim the public spotlight has moved several steps forward in recent months, with perhaps the biggest move of them all made over the weekend: new episodes of "Arrested Development" are officially coming to Netflix.

Deadline reports that Netflix has outbid prominent pay cable networks to attain the rights to the upcoming new season of "Arrested Development," a series of episodes that will reportedly pave the way for a big-screen comeback. The exact number of episodes remains undetermined, and it's said that specific episodes will be designated to specific characters. (Please, someone get me that Tobias Funke episode ASAP!)

Little did we think continued development on bringing "Arrested Development" to the big screen could be so exciting.

Last we heard, the developing miniseries and feature film was being eyed by Showtime and Netflix, but it looks like that isn't a done deal yet. Based on a new report, Hulu is also making a grab for the show in what is turning out to be a high profile bidding war. Check out Vulture for more.

After years and years of hoping, wishing, prepping our cut-off jean shorts and blueing ourselves, it finally looks like an “Arrested Development” movie is going to happen, and there’s an added bonus: creator Mitch Hurwitz and the cast confirmed over the weekend that there will also be a new nine or ten episode season before the movies’ release.

Now that the agony is over, let’s take a look back at the ups and downs of “AD” movie news over the years — and believe us, there’ve been a lot of them.

Arrested DevelopmentThe Bluths are (hopefully) headed to Hollywood, in more ways than one.

Screen Rant reports on what they're describing as a rumored plot for the long-anticipated "Arrested Development" movie, though whether it is the official plot remains to be seen (there should be an announcement within the next month to confirm this, the site reports). Though it's only a rumor right now, it's certainly a fun one.

According to the report, the movie follows the Bluth clan's attempts to make their own movie about their lives to compete with one narrator Ron Howard is working on. Based on Maeby's experience in the film industry, they might actually have a chance of pulling it off.

Oh, "Arrested Development" movie. Just when we thought we were making progress, you knock the wind right out of our sails.

At last night's Sneak Peek Week Q&A session for "Horrible Bosses," the inevitable topic of "Arrested Development" came up when a fan tweeted the following question for Jason Bateman: "Do you think after this part [in 'Horrible Bosses,' Jennifer] Aniston may get her cameo on the Arrested Development movie?"

Sounds like a great idea to us, but sadly, Bateman's immediate answer wasn't exactly encouraging on the "Arrested" front in general.

Woe is the plight of the "Arrested Development" movie. We want to see it! The fans want to see it! The cast members want to make it! (Well, almost all of them.) So why the heck can't we get this show on the road? 'Tis a neverending puzzle that at this point will have to live on via the non-news updates we get from various involved parties.

When MTV News caught up with director Paul Feig (who directed seven episodes of the TV show) at the PaleyFest's "Freaks and Geeks" reunion recently, I asked him if he had heard any news about the long-delayed production. Unsurprisingly, and much like all the other players I've been harassing over the years, he laughed at the question.

Jason Bateman still hasn't seen a page of Mitch Hurwitz's "Arrested Development" movie script yet, but he has heard a detailed take on the plot straight from the source. Just talking about it has him at a loss for words.

"Yes. It's... yes. It's incredible. It's everything you would want it to be and more," Bateman told MTV News while promoting "Paul," the Seth Rogen-starring alien comedy. " I really hope he finishes it soon so we can have a shot of doing it before the end of the year."

Though Bateman said he still didn't have the update we want to hear (aka "It's done!"), he did say that he had a meeting last week with Hurwitz and they talked about the master plan for the film.

"Arrested Development" fans, prepare yourselves for a very blue update.

We've been waiting for this movie ever since its insanely premature cancellation back in 2006, but five years have passed and show creator Mitch Hurwitz has yet to get the Bluth gang back together. It's gotten to the point where everybody involved with that show fields an "Arrested" question almost every five minutes, and when we spoke with actor David Cross about the project at the Independent Spirit Awards last night, the erstwhile Tobias Fünke gave us the answers we were expecting, but not hoping for.

"I have no idea, I have no idea, I have no idea, I have no idea," he told MTV News about the status of "Arrested Development" before we could even get the question out of our mouths. But when we pointed out that Hurwitz and producer Ron Howard have suggested that the "Arrested" movie could kick off in 2011, Cross remained unconvinced.

"That's fine! Show me," he declared. "There's, like, nine people involved, so I'll believe it when I see it."

The kind of day that Jake Gyllenhaal is having over and over and over again in "Source Code" makes "Groundhog Day" look like a walk in the park.

A second trailer for director Duncan Jones' follow-up to the criminally underappreciated "Moon" arrived online today, showcasing the time travel narrative at the core of the film: "Source Code" stars Gyllenhaal as Colter Stevens, a military man repeatedly sent back through time to investigate a terrorist bombing and prevent further attacks. If you enjoyed the first trailer, you're going to love this.

Awesome as it is, the new "Source Code" trailer isn't the only major headline in the movies world today. After the jump, check out some updates on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" score and "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz's next project!
