Anne HathawayMove over Rambo. Take a seat Indiana Jones. When it comes to old favorites making a return to big-time prominence, few have us as geeked out as Peter Segal's upcoming "Get Smart," starring Steve Carell as the titular Maxwell Smart, a bumbling secret agent originally played by the late, great Don Adams.

Carell previously detailed the extent to which series' creators Mel Brooks and Buck Henry had lent their approval to the project, and, among other tantalizing tidbits, teased us with the promise that several stars from the original would have cameos in the film.

But one cast member who won’t be seen in the film, Carell sighed, is Barbara Feldon -- who played the beautiful and smart Agent 99 (played in the film by Anne Hathaway.) Read More...

Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart in 'Get Smart'Steve Carell's "Get Smart" already ranks as one of 2008's highest-profile movies and now, ten months before release, die-hard fans are buzzing over a mystery that's fit for super-spy Maxwell Smart: Who's playing Hymie?

For those who haven't seen the classic Sixties comedy show, Hymie was a robot with superhuman powers, played with deadpan perfection by Richard Gautier. Despite being a cutting-edge aide to the CONTROL spy team, he lacked the mental processing chip that would allow him to comprehend everyday idioms. For instance, if someone told Hymie to go jump in the lake, they'd better go get him a life preserver and a towel.

"I didn't work with Hymie," shrugged Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson when we put him under the Cone of Silence and probed him for details. "None of my scenes were with Hymie - but I met Hymie; he's a cool dude and very, very funny in the movie." Read More...

Think Steve Carell's upcoming adaptation of their classic 60's sitcom has series co-creators and legendary funnymen Mel Brooks and Buck Henry up in arms? "Get Smart."

"We're really lucky because it's been given their seal of approval. They are completely on board," Carell told MTV News, as giddy as a schoolboy when he said the two had even sent in jokes that made their way into the film. "[They've] been in contact with Pete Segal, the director, and they've been going back and forth, doing pitches, and jokes, and sending things all the way along."

So enthusiastic was Mel Brooks, that filmmakers even set aside a small role for the 80-year-old, Carell said. "We asked him, but he's too busy -- he's actually casting 'Young Frankenstein' which he's doing on Broadway right now -- but we had a cameo all set for him. He just couldn't scheduling-wise make it up," Carell declared. "[But] we're up shooting in Montreal right now, so he may be coming to visit us."

But even if Mel isn't able to star, there will be plenty of surprises from recognizable faces, Carell promised. "We do have some cameos involving some people from the original," he said. One long-rumored cameo, that Will Ferrell is going to play the President of the United States, is not true, Carell insisted, telling MTV News that "James Caan plays the [role]." Read More...
