First published in 1985, “Less Than Zero” defined a generation. It also helped launch the impressive careers of Robert Downey Jr., James Spader, and “American Psycho” author Bret Easton Ellis. Now, Ellis is hoping to reunite the others for a follow-up movie about what happened after the party ended.
“What I’m working on now is a sequel to ‘Less Than Zero’,” the novelist explained to us recently. “It’s coming out next year, in May of 2010.”
And just like last time, Ellis (whose latest novel-turned-film “The Informers” opens in limited release April 24th) thinks the book would make a great movie. Read more...
Orlando Bloom may have kept a lower profile after "Pirates of the Caribbean" than his costars, but he's making up for it this year. He's in the middle of filming Mark Ruffalo's "Sympathy for Delicious" which has him playing a hard rock singer, and he's playing a border guard in the sci-fi thriller "The Cross." Now he's looking to join the ensemble cast of "Main Street," adapted from one of Horton Foote's final screenplays.
Andrew McCarthy, Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson and Colin Firth are already signed to star in the indie drama, which will be directed by John Doyle. Read more...

FROM NEWSROOM: Watching last night's Emmy Awards telecast was a painful experience. When I wasn't wincing at the five hosts' "banter" or questioning my sobriety during a Josh Groban medley, I was rolling my eyes every time a Z-list presenter bitched about their bit being cut for time. (Hey, crazy old lady from "Desperate Housewives," nobody doubts that you can deliver a Bruce Vilanch punch line. Get over yourself!)
But nothing got my goat more than the Macy's ad, made up of movie and TV clips that took place in the iconic retail chain, that ran during the show. In the midst of "I Love Lucy" shout-outs and the obvious "Miracle at 34th Street" moment, there was a shot of Andrew McCarthy and Estelle Getty walking through a grand retail palace, "Baywatch" slo-mo style.
