Paul Giamatti playing a stressed out attorney who moonlights as a high-school wrestling coach? Sounds about right. Giamatti's character suffering a panic attack while out for a run? Also not surprising. Fellow jogger Bobby Cannavale literally mounting Giamatti to warm him up after said panic attack? Well, we weren't exactly expecting that... but that's exactly the spectacle we're treated to in the below exclusive clip from the Fox Searchlight comedy "Win Win," currently showing at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
Written and directed by Thomas McCarthy -- a.k.a. the guy who plays Dr. Bob from "Meet the Parents" and "Little Fockers" -- "Win Win" stars Giamatti as struggling lawyer and volunteer high-school wrestling coach Mike Flaherty, who takes on guardianship of an elderly client in a desperate last-ditch effort to keep his law practice afloat. Amy Ryan had a great run on "The Office." Last season we saw her character, HR's very own Holly, wine and dine Dunder Mifflin Scranton's head honcho Michael Scott with her own geeky charm. She made corny jokes and loved Michael's. She had a great Yoda impression and she didn't seem to mind that Michael confessed his feelings for her very, very, very early on in the relationship.
However, like all amazing things, this relationship came to an end. The bosses found out about them and moved her all the way to TK. They broke up. However, we're still holding out some hope that they may reunite and fall passionately back in love. An idea Ryan wouldn't rule out. Read more...

It looks like Paul Giamatti is facing a "Win Win" situation after all, as the actor has signed on to star in Tom McCarthy's upcoming film for Fox Searchlight.
New York Magazine reports that Giamatti and Amy Ryan are joining "Win Win," McCarthy's newest project described by the magazine as "'The Blind Side' for indie literary types." The story centers on "a suburban New Jersey family and the teen runaway who changes their lives and turns around the sagging fortunes of a high school wrestling team." Read more...

It’s been five years since Green Day’s multi-platinum, Grammy-winning album “American Idiot” came out, but work on the material is still very alive. A musical adaptation is set to debut at California’s Berkeley Repertory Theater in September and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong continues to push for developing the disc’s post-9/11 stories for the big screen. And he wants to do it in an unexpected way.
"I thought 'American Idiot' had a lot in common with something like 'Rocky Horror Picture Show,'" Billie Joe told The Associated Press. "It would great to see a film made out of it someday too." Read more...

With a Best Acting Oscar under his belt, and nominations pouring in for "Doubt," it was only a matter of time before Philip Seymour Hoffman decided to direct.
Variety reports that he's set to make his debut on "Jack Goes Boating" for Overture Films. Surprisingly, it's a romantic comedy -- albeit an unconventional one based on the off-Broadway play by Bob Glaudini.
Hoffman will star as Jack, reprising his role from the original play, will bring along his original costars John Ortiz and Daphne Rubin-Vega. The newcomer of the cast is the leading lady, Amy Ryan ("Gone Baby Gone") who will play Connie, Jack's love interest. Read more...

Writer/director Noah Buschel made a name for himself with "Neal Cassidy" and "Bringing Rain," and now he's back again for "The Missing Person." The film -- which will have its world premiere at the forthcoming Sundance Film Festival -- stars Amy Ryan, and Michael Shannon (fresh off his much talked-about "Revolutionary Road" performance) as a private detective hired to follow a mysterious stranger (Frank Wood).
The twist? The guy's listed as having been killed in the 9/11 attacks. With a reward offered for returning the man to his wife, Shannon's character must decide whether to bring him in or turn him loose. Check out the first trailer and the film's poster debut after the jump. Read more...
It's a good time to be an Amy in Hollywood these days, with Adams taking off in "Enchanted," Sedaris going mainstream in "Shrek 3," and Smart continuing to line up indie gigs. The busiest actress out of them all, however, might just be Ryan.
Besides busting out in the recent critical fave "Gone Baby Gone," audiences have seen her this year in "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" and "Dan in Real Life." And these days, the New York native is happily working on the legendary Clint Eastwood's next high-profile flick.
"I've done one day, and I go back in December to finish...I have about a week and-a-half more to do," she explained of "The Changeling," a film that co-stars Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich. "I play a woman who befriends Angelina, when they're both in this dire situation."
