Buffy the Vampire SlayerJoss Whedon isn't the only one out there with an opinion on the new "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot from Warner Bros. Former "Buffy" actress Amber Benson contributed some perspective yesterday with a possible explanation for the current situation.

On a more serious note, tension between North Korea and South Korea has been on a lot of minds today after the North shelled the island of Yeonpyeong, killing two soldiers. John Cho was among those hoping for a peaceful outcome, while elsewhere Damon Lindelof shared his own thoughts on resolving disputes. He's retweeted below, along with fears about Thanksgiving and a thank-you note to Jessica Simpson's surprise chicken-soup benefactor.

Warmoth's out again today. He hates me, you see. Really though, he busts his rear for this column and he gets a break whenever he wants it. The Twitter-Wood was relatively quiet today, but not so quiet that I've got nothing for you. Aubrey O'Day made some noise with a fairly scandalous TwitPic, the one that earned today's Twitter Pic of the Day honors. There were some strong runner-up contenders however from Danny Masterson and Fred Durst.

On the text tweet front, Amber Benson talks about her painful future as a roller derby girl, Rainn Wilson makes a startling observation, Michael McKean comes up with a brilliant movie idea and Ice-T addresses a very personal rumor. Plus, Gil Birmingham from the totally unpopular "Twilight" series brings an update from the set of "Eclipse." I'm @geminibros and this is your Twitter-Wood for October 2, 2009. Have a kickass weekend, y'all. Read More...

Warmoth is out today and, with him, Twitter-Wood's enduring fondness for former "Full House" stars. Nothing against Saget, Stamos and Coulier... but your regular Twitter-Wood contributor is their champion here. He'll be back tomorrow, so have no fear: "Full House" will live on at MTV Movies Blog.

So what's up today on the feed? Well, for starters "The State" veteran David Wain, currently in Sicily, had someone snap a super-cool photo of him. It was enough to edge out Paris Hilton's own photo, of a bunch of fancy cakes that she was sent. Presumably for free. In the world of text-only Tweets, Rainn Wilson dropped some knowledge about Pfizer and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Amber Benson revealed that she has a special connection with pigeons, especially the anorexic ones. "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli also had a pigeon run-in, while bird-watching for the elusive Twitter Bird. Meanwhile, Idris Elba found something legitimately funny to laugh about with the approaching hurricane and Neil Gaiman confirmed that he is, in fact, alive. Brett Ratner may not be making that "Guitar Hero" movie that he's dreamed about, but he is getting the chance to help launch the new game with a commercial. And he's excited -- like tweeting about it excited.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles, those wildfires are still burning, and the faces of the Twitter-Wood feed are still watching the smoke fly. Richard Kelly and Rose McGowan caught a glimpse of the flames, while Kevin Smith linked to what the little actress from "Jersey Girl" is up to these days, and Miranda Cosgrove locked herself out of her home. Find out what happened and see the proudest display of nerd-pride on the Internet today in the Twitter-Wood report for September 1, 2009. Read More...

Amber BensonFROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: She may be best know as Tara Meers on the series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” but Amber Benson (left, with Sarah Michelle Gellar) has since become an accomplished writer. She has written and produced her own films, written several comics and she and co-writer Christopher Golden created the popular BBC series “Albion.” Now, she’s taking her first solo-flight as a novelist with “Death’s Daughter,” which is book one of a trilogy.

During a book signing at Midtown Comics in Times Square, we had the chance to about her new book and its interesting protagonist, a sarcastic young woman named Calliope Reaper-Jones. Amber told Hollywood Crush, “Basically, it’s about a girl who’s father is Death. [Death as a force] is run like a corporation. He’s the president and CEO. And he gets kidnapped and [Calliope] has to come and run the company and find out what happened to her dad. But she’s like a normal girl and she doesn’t want any part of the supernatural world.”

Mickey RourkeDive in, because I've got behind-the-scenes commentary from Jon Favreau, Ashton Kutcher, and Jeremy Piven in today's handpicked crop of Twitter-Wood tweets. Favreau offers some praise up for Mickey Rourke's work thus far in "Iron Man 2," and Kutcher shares his thoughts on the foreign dubbing process for his new film "Spread," while Piven points out the common links between his new movie "The Goods" and this summer's box office success story "The Hangover."

I also rounded up a few thoughts from film folks about yet another entertainment industry death, comedian and impersonator, Fred Travelena, as well as Bernard Madoff's sentencing today, and Denzel Washington's latest post about Michael Jackson. You find all of these, a picture taken by "Buffy" actress Amber Benson at one of my local Chicago comic book shops, and much more in the Twitter-Wood update for June 29, 2009, after the click.
