Adventureland” is a great little movie that came out last April, got strong reviews, and then, for reasons that call into question the whole concept of justice, sank from sight after taking in a pathetic $16 million. Happily, the film was released on DVD today, and so those who missed it or ignored it or otherwise showed it no love now have a chance to make things right.

It’s a movie about young love, youthful confusion and dumb summer jobs. This doesn’t begin to sum it up, but then neither did the film’s trailer (which may have been part of the original problem). Kristen Stewart gives a performance in this picture that outclasses anything she’s yet been called upon to do in the vampire franchise with which she’s currently involved. And she’s ideally teamed with Jesse Eisenberg, at his skittery, hyper-intelligent best; and Ryan Reynolds as a predatory older guy with enough of a soul left to realize what a scumball he is. It's the last week of summer, so how is Hollywood celebrating? By releasing a home video slate of some of the most under-appreciated films of the year. From bickering spies to reluctant amusement park workers, August 25th brings together indie darlings and big-budget gems, and we're breaking it all down in today's DVD Report.

Let's kick it off with one of my favorite films of the year, Tony Gilroy's "Duplicity." The director's sophomore follow-up to "Michael Clayton," the Julia Roberts-Clive Owen spy yarn brings together two of the brightest and most expressive voices working today for a crafty globe-trotting adventure. Filled with twists and turns and superb acting, "Duplicity" wasn't exactly a smash hit at the cineplex, but it's more than worth your time. Sadly, if there's one thing worth griping about here, it's the rather lackluster bonus features...or should we say bonus feature. Both the Blu-ray and DVD feature a lone extra: audio commentary from Gilroy and his brother, who co-produced the pic. Come on Universal, you couldn't dig up any deleted scenes? Read More...

Kristen StewartOMG! Did you guys know that Kristen Stewart is on Twitter? Just like so many other movie stars, including ass-aficionados Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, the “Twilight” star is reaching out to her public and giving us the latest reports as she heads back to Vancouver to film “New Moon.” Or is she?

“Rob and i have become youtube geeks, it's so awesomely wierd [sic]!” tweeted ‘kristensss” recently. And when a fan asked her last week which store she’d turn up in for the big “Twilight” weekend DVD festivities, she replied: “I'm not allowed to say where I'm going to but yes the whole cast will be at different ones.” Read More...

He’s married to one of the most beautiful women in the world, and has established the type of successful Hollywood career that usually has actors excited to work with him. Yet, Ryan Reynolds’ new film “Adventureland” was a thrill to the 32-year-old star for a reason you might not expect: It brought him one step closer to Robert Pattinson.

“I love ‘Twilight’,” insisted the star, who shares some steamy moments in April 3rd’s “Adventureland” with Kristen Stewart. “Oh my God are you kidding me? Robert Pattinson in a word: dreamy.”

Simon PeggContributed by Rodrigo Perez

While director Greg Mottola ("Superbad," "The Day Trippers") is in the throes of doing press and promotion for his upcoming dramedy "Adventureland," he's also knee-deep in pre-production for next film, "Paul," slated for release via Universal.

A collaboration between British comedians Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (the writing-acting team behind, "Shaun Of The Dead," "Hot Fuzz," and BBC cult comedy, "Spaced"), the flick, written by the two English comics, centers on two British tourists on a roadtrip across the U.S. to San Diego's movie geek mecca Comic-Con, but along the way they run into a little diversion out of this world.

"They meet an alien. in the desert, in the middle of nowhere," Motolla said carefully. "But that's about all I can say." Read More...

What a difference a year makes.

Last year Kristen Stewart came to Sundance as just another actor. She was here for the small film "The Yellow Handkerchief," which has yet to have a wide release, as is the case for many films shown here. It's actually part of the charm.

Then she started working on her next project (maybe you've heard of it?), which catapulted her into super-stardom with young girls everywhere. This year, here to debut "Adventureland," a film in which she co-stars with Jesse Eisenberg, the experience is a bit different for the young actress. When we caught up with Kristen yesterday, the "Twilight" star specifically described the difference in the level of paparazzi she's noticed here on this go round.

Kristen goes on to talk more about the Sundance experience, and what she thinks about all the actors and celebrities who are here for -- or not for -- festival films. Check out the video after the jump. Read More...

Kristen WiigYou've been to Disney World, ridden all the rides at Six Flags. The staff at Universal City know you by name. So where's an intrepid, theme park enthusiast to go next? Why, to "Adventureland," of course, the new amusement destination featured in director Greg Mottola's "Superbad" follow-up.

Just make sure you bring a copy of your life insurance, joked co-star Kristen Wiig.

"A lot of times towns will have the really great amusement park," she smiled. "And then they'll have the kind of scary one where you really don't want to go on the rides because you're afraid you might be killed. Read More...

Jesse EisenbergHow do you follow a raunchy comedy hit? Apparently you go to "Adventureland." Yes, "Superbad" director Greg Mottola is slated next to helm a comedy based on his own life and MTV can tell you exclusively who his leading man is. "I'm starting 'Adventureland' in a few months," Jesse Eisenberg told me today while promoting his latest film, "The Hunting Party."

Best known for his role in "The Squid and the Whale," Eisenberg says the film will shoot in Pittsburgh and continues a trend for him. "I play a lot of directors' awkward stages in their lives," he observed with a smile.

"It's based on Greg Mottola and it's about him getting a job at this theme park. It's his life after college," Eisenberg explained and added that the comedy won't be nearly as broad as "Superbad." "It's probably closer [in tone] to 'The Daytrippers,'" Eisenberg said, recalling an earlier Mottola effort.

Does "Adventureland" sound super bad or super good? How does Eisenberg strike you as a lead for this flick? Weigh in below.
