These days, he's a Hollywood superstar, responsible for a slate of classic comedies along with his new blockbuster, "You Don't Mess With The Zohan." And, of course, he'll also be the receipient of the Generation Award at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday. But long before that, he was just an upstart comedian from Brooklyn, and that's where our paths first crossed when Sandler auditioned to be an MTV VJ. We showed this video to Sandler when we met him this week; now we're giving it to you. Enjoy.
The MTV Movie Awards will air live on MTV on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, with MTV News' "Coming Attractions" preshow kicking the evening off at 7:30 p.m. ET! Meanwhile, stay tuned to the MTV Movies Blog and MovieAwards.MTV.com.
We already gave you the full report and photos of our MTV Sneak Peek Week event for "You Don't Mess With The Zohan," now check out the festivities first-hand in the video below.

While many of you were out BBQ'ing yesterday evening, here in Hollywood we were busy throwing the first of the MTV Sneak Peek Week events. With Adam Sandler in attendance at the historic Mann's Chinese Theater along with an audience of hundreds, we held a screening of his new comedy, "You Don't Mess With The Zohan," which finds Sandler as Israel's #1 commando who moves to America to pursue his dream of being a hair stylist.

While the movie was entertaining enough, the biggest part of the night came after the lights went up, as Sandler was ushered out for a Q&A session hosted by our own Josh Horowitz. (Read the rest of the report and see more pics after the jump!) Read more...
Sure, the potent combination of Judd Apatow and Adam Sandler, reuniting for a recently announced new project, means plenty of laughs. But could it be that their next film owes more to "Punch Drunk Love" than it does to "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry"?
Apatow thinks so.
"It's a relationship movie," he said of the still-untitled project, which will star Sandler, Seth Rogen, and Leslie Mann. "It's not a big high-concept movie. It's hopefully going to be a very, very funny drama." Read more...

When we asked "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" star Kevin James about his next film, "One Nation Under Bob," the "King of Queens" actor initiated an exchange with our own Shawn Adler that was far more amusing than we were prepared for. It probably didn't hurt that he was sitting next to his co-star Adam Sandler at the time. See the resulting funnyness below.
