There are some projects that you hope will be awesome, and others that you know will be an instant classic. Personally, I’m wiling to put my money down on “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters,” a film that exists as little more than a rough script at the moment – but that director/producer/all-around funnyman Adam McKay assured me will get turned into something special soon.

“Oh, I love that project,” the “Funny or Die” co-founder and frequent Will Ferrell collaborator enthused. “That’s really chugging along.”

Written and soon-to-be directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola, McKay told me that both he and Ferrell are fans of Wirkola’s beloved, little-seen Nazi zombie film “Dead Snow.” “It’s the guy who did the zombie Nazi pic, so it’s a bad-ass movie,” the “Talladega Nights” director said of his “Hansel” collaborator. “It’s in the vein of an ‘Evil Dead II’ or ‘Army of Darkness.’” Read more...

Warmoth is out today and, with him, Twitter-Wood's enduring fondness for former "Full House" stars. Nothing against Saget, Stamos and Coulier... but your regular Twitter-Wood contributor is their champion here. He'll be back tomorrow, so have no fear: "Full House" will live on at MTV Movies Blog.

So what's up today on the feed? Well, for starters "The State" veteran David Wain, currently in Sicily, had someone snap a super-cool photo of him. It was enough to edge out Paris Hilton's own photo, of a bunch of fancy cakes that she was sent. Presumably for free. In the world of text-only Tweets, Rainn Wilson dropped some knowledge about Pfizer and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Amber Benson revealed that she has a special connection with pigeons, especially the anorexic ones. "Twilight" star Peter Facinelli also had a pigeon run-in, while bird-watching for the elusive Twitter Bird. Meanwhile, Idris Elba found something legitimately funny to laugh about with the approaching hurricane and Neil Gaiman confirmed that he is, in fact, alive. I'm @geminibros and this is your Twitter-Wood for September 3, 2009. Read more...

Milk may have been a bad choice for Ron Burgundy, but it was a very, very good decision by longtime comedy partners Will Ferrell and Adam McKay to collaborate in 2004 on “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.” Now, the duo are wise enough to finally be working out plans for a sequel –- so wise in fact, that they’re like little Buddhas, covered in hair.

“We have an idea, we love it, we’ve talked to the cast and they all love it,” writer/producer/director McKay revealed recently, giving us news we love more than lamp. “It’s all about the scheduling now.”

Echoing the recent statements of his producing partner Judd Apatow, McKay left open the possibility that Ron, Champ, Brian, Brick and the rest of the gang could be glimpsed at a different time in their lives. Rather than making them elderly, McKay seemed to like the idea of an '80s news team staying classy in San Diego. Read more...

You probably remember Craig Robinson as the scene-stealing big guy from “The Office,” “Pineapple Express,” “Knocked Up” and so many other great comedies. You may soon know him as a star of the upcoming Will Ferrell-Mark Wahlberg comedy “The Other Guys.” And if you do, well…you’re welcome.

“I’m here in New York right now, we’re casting [‘The Other Guys’] and in pre-production,” Adam McKay, the man behind “Anchorman,” “Talladega Nights” and this week’s “The Goods” said when we spoke Wednesday evening. “It’s looking pretty cool; I’m excited about it.” Check out this sneak peek at "The Goods" and then hit the jump for more.

Kevin SpaceyThe theme of this week's Monday in Twitter-Wood seems to be shouting out other celebrities. Whether they're trying to raise arts awareness, hiking mountain ranges or offending Glenn Close, everyone is talking about everyone else today. Kevin Spacey and Stephen Fry, Fran Drescher and Michael Ian Black. A diverse mix, to say the least.

Whatever everyone is tweeting to and about one another, today's Twitter-Wood feed comes packed with distinct examples of the best and most menial uses that Twitter has to offer. And that's okay. Some folks are using it to raise money and awareness for the Old Vic Theatre in London. Others just want to express their love for clowns and unicorns -- not that there's anything wrong with that. Still others are sharing their tips for street vendor deals in Manhattan. I'm Brian Warmoth, and here is Twitter-Wood for Monday, June 8, 2009. Read more...

Will FerrellOne of the most buzzed about films at Sundance was Tommy Wirkola's Nazi zombie thriller, "Dead Snow," which pits a few medical students against icy and undead members of the Third Reich. It can be pretty hard to follow up that kind of gutsiness, but Wirkola is already hard at work on a new idea titled "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" and he's already attracted the attention of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story will follow what happened to Hansel and Gretel after they used their wits to escape from that child-eating witch. Fifteen years later, they're bounty hunters who slay anything wearing a pointy black hat. Read more...
