The prospect of Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill starring together in a movie has tantalized us since "Moneyball" was first announced, but the first trailer for the film has us officially on board.

The story itself is an intriguing one. Brad Pitt stars as Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane, who has to restructure his team based on a tight budget. He turns to recent Ivy League grad Peter Brand, played by Jonah Hill in a fictionalized version of Paul DePodesta, to help him crunch stats with new computer-generated analysis and chose his team players in a way completely different from the traditional route. It's a gamble that Beane means to win, even if the trailer leads us to believe it isn't all smooth sailing.

Harry HoudiniIn what could prove to be his best illusion yet, Harry Houdini has managed to recreate himself... four times!

That's the magic of the movies, at least, where for every one idea for a film there are at least three other potential projects. Fittingly, today, on what would have been the masterful illusionist's 137th birthday, Variety reports that "Water for Elephants" director Francis Lawrence is in talks to direct a biopic about the life of Houdini for Sony Pictures. That would make for, yes, the fourth Houdini-related project currently in development.

Find out more information about each of the different projects after the jump.

Kevin SpaceyIt shouldn't be too big of a surprise to anyone who's been keeping track of the awards season so far to hear that the producers behind "The Social Network" are teaming up with "Accidental Billionaires" author Ben Mezrich to bring another one of his non-fiction books to the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that Kevin Spacey, who also produced and starred in the adaptation of Mezrich's "Bringing Down The House" (film titled "21"), and producers Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are working with Mezrich to turn his book proposal "Sex on the Moon" into a film.

Christian Bale

The 68th Annual Golden Globes are a wrap, folks!

And in case you missed our awesome LIVE BLOG coverage (nice job, Katie!), here's what went down. Ricky Gervais rocked the hosting duties. No surprise there. Robert Downey Jr. said he'd "like to give it" to all five nominees for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, and we're pretty sure he wasn't talking about the award.

Similarly unsurprising: Colin Firth won Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, Natalie Portman cinched Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for "Black Swan," Matt Damon presented Robert De Niro with the Cecil B. DeMille Award (yeah, that was announced beforehand), Christian Bale and Melissa Leo scored victories for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress for their turns in "The Fighter," "Toy Story 3" prevailed in the Best Animated Motion Picture category, and Aaron Sorkin and "The Social Network" claimed gold for Best Screenplay and Best Motion Picture - Drama. The Social NetworkIt's a new year, but not much has changed for "The Social Network."

The flick about the founding of Facebook continued to rip the awards season a new one with a trifecta of victories at the 14th annual Online Film Critics Society Awards. "The Social Network" won best picture, best director for David Fincher and best adapted screenplay for Aaron Sorkin, further solidifying the film's Oscar chances in those categories.

"True Grit" and "Inception" also proved that they're forces to be reckoned with come Oscar time, winning awards in two categories each. Christopher Nolan notched the best original screenplay award for his script for the mind-bending, dream-weaving thriller "Inception," while Lee Smith won the best editing trophy for his work on the film. "Grit," meanwhile, scored accolades for best cinematography for Roger Deakins, but the big V went to the film's neophyte star Hailee Steinfeld. Though she got snubbed at the Golden Globes, the 15-year-old actress took home the Online Film Critics Society's best supporting actress prize for her turn as gumption-oozing, justice-seeking Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers' acclaimed Western. Hugh JackmanIf you dug "The Prestige," are a fan of Hugh Jackman and get giddy about Broadway musicals, then you're going to love this news.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jackman is going to be starring in the Broadway musical "Houdini" as the famed magician. What makes the project even more epic? It's being written by Aaron Sorkin and composed by Tim Burton's go-to guy Danny Elfman.

"Right now Aaron Sorkin is writing," Elfman told EW. "He's writing away, and we all have high hopes that Aaron's going to come through and do some good stuff." We should hope, considering Sorkin is likely to get an Oscar nod for his work on "The Social Network." Read More...

The Social NetworkWith "The Social Network" dominating the box office this past weekend, moviegoers may walk away thinking that they've gotten an inside look into the history of Facebook and toured the mind of its founder, Mark Zuckerberg. What they may not know is this: While screenwriter Aaron Sorkin's in-depth research did yield a film with plenty of fact, there is also a fare share of fiction squeezed into the movie's two-hour run time, according to New York Magazine.

A recent profile of Zuckerberg in The New Yorker and another of Facebook's former president Sean Parker in Vanity Fair shed some light on the actual people behind the world's most popular social network. Zuckerberg said it best when he told The New Yorker, "I think a lot people will look at that stuff, you know, when I was 19, and say, 'Oh, well, he was like that ... He must still be like that, right?'" Here's our take at separating some of the fact from the fiction in "The Social Network." Read More...

The Internet's gathered masses were collectively blown away yesterday by the arrival of the first proper trailer for "The Social Network," written by one Aaron Sorkin. A giant in the world of television (see also: "The West Wing," "Sports Night"), Sorkin's experience in the film world has been limited so far to writing a handful of scripts, albeit largely excellent ones. Did you know he wrote "Malice"? I didn't.

Now Sorkin is ready to try his hand at directing. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that he picked up the rights to Andrew Young's book "The Politician: An Insider's Account of John Edwards's Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down," with the plan being to write, direct and produce it himself. Over the weekend, Sony sent over the very first poster for the Aaron Sorkin-penned, David Fincher-directed Facebook founders biopic "The Social Network." This triggered a rash of clever blog headlines fusing Facebook lingo with the film's title. See above for a case in point.

The poster is actually pretty neat. You don't get a great look at star Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, but the shadowy face behind the giant-sized white lettering certainly does bear a striking resemblance to the real-life Internet billionaire. I also dig the web browser-style Facebook bar that runs the length of the right side of the poster. You can check out the full image after the jump. Read More...

There's some strange news from an unusual source this morning. Remember "Moneyball"? Last summer, a Steven Soderbergh/Brad Pitt collaboration fell apart when Sony halted the work they'd done on bringing Michael Lewis's book about baseball's Oakland A's and their GM Billy Beane to the big screen. Soderbergh stepped away from the project, but Pitt kept cheerleading, and the whole thing landed in the hands of "Capote" director Bennett Miller.

Pitt is apparently still set to play Beane, even after the tumultuous production changes. And the script that was first penned by "American Gangster" scribe Steve Zaillian is now being credited to Aaron Sorkin. The news today comes from an unlikely source. The book's author Lewis, speaking to ESPN's Rob Neyer (via JoBlo), revealed that none other than Jonah Hill will be joining the cast as well. Read More...
