--Sylvester Stallone has opened up on the secret scene in "The Expendables" featuring himself, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and my greatest dreams come to life. According to the actor, Willis plays the man who hires Stallone and his titular team for "a death-defying mission," but there's another operative that could take on the job — none other than Stallone's longtime rival, played by Schwarzenegger. "I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time, but I never thought it would come to fruition," said Stallone. (PopWatch)
--NBC is going from "Heroes" to "Zeroes" in an all-new television project from "Crank" duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Titled "Zeroes," the one-hour NBC project will focus on a crisis situation's final hour. "We want to drop right into it and sustain the absolute most berserk state of crisis, when all of the options have been exhausted," said Taylor. (THR) Read more...

The quote above comes from Jackie Earle Haley, who will terrorize the nightmares of teens as Freddy Krueger in director Samuel Bayer's remake of the classic Wes Craven horror flick, "A Nightmare on Elm Street." It is a role that was previously brought to life by Robert Englund, who chews scenery with the best.
"You know, I think my Freddy is just a bit more serious," Haley told MTV's Vanessa White Wolf during an on-set interview. As fans well know, later versions of Englund's take on Krueger skewed heavily towards slapstick horror as opposed to overt creepiness. Read more...
"A Nightmare on Elm Street" is one of those truly terrifying classic horror movies. There are levels of camp and comedy in lots of those '80s scare flicks, including anything from later in the "Elm Street" series, but that first one is pure terror. I'm still not convinced that a remake is necessary, but today's new trailer makes that a difficult stance to maintain.
If what you see in the video after the jump is familiar, there's a reason for that. A lot of those scenes are lifted from the original film, or at least heavily inspired by them. You also get your first somewhat clear look at Jackie Earle Haley's Freddy Krueger, and he's looking a bit different from the Robert Englund original. What do you think of the trailer? Hit the jump and then share your thoughts in the comments below. Read more...
I’m the first to admit that remakes are rarely, if ever, a good idea. We can hardly claim, as a culture, that we prize originality over all else. We’re gluttons for the good stuff. Like movies based on 1980s cartoons? We’ll make more! Y’all like vampires in love? Have all the lovey dovey vampires you can handle! Imitation is a-okay, but giving us the exact same thing? That’s how you piss an audience off.
A remake is just a reflection of something the audience already loves, not a straight reproduction. That’s a hurdle many of 2010’s biggest movies are facing. The first six months of next year are chock full of marquee remakes, releases that are bound to stoke fan ire when they fail to meet expectations. I, however, have a solution for the makers of these films: Kanye West. Just look at his VMA outburst! Give the man a bit part in these five films, and he’ll reassure the audience that they’re not alone in their preferred choice.

Comic-Con didn't even wait for Preview Night to set the Twitter-Wood feed on fire today. It's already a trending topic, and San Diego is the place to be for Hollywood faces this week, whether they're in comic book movies, mildly comic-book-related movies, or just movies producers would like to peddle to comic book readers. As you already know, the "New Moon" cast will be there, and at least one of them is Tweeting about it.
Meanwhile, "Eclipse" director David Slade continued his tweet rampage today posting pictures from the filming locations he's been scouting. I've included links to his TwitPic photos, which you can find below, in addition to commentary on the new "Nightmare On Elm Street" remake, whether the franchise's original director will be at Comic-Con, and which actor really wants a role Sam Raimi's "World of Warcraft" movie. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for July 22, 2009. Read more...

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you… three, four, will there be more gore?
The remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” has just finished filming in Chicago. While we have to wait until next April to actually see the movie, Patrick Goldstein at Los Angeles Times blog The Big Picture has an early preview of the franchise reboot. There’s not much in the way of details, not even a look at the new Freddy Krueger (played by “Watchmen” actor Jackie Earle Haley). Instead, Goldstein focuses on the talent involved, including music video director Sam Bayer (“Smells Like Teen Spirit”), and addresses the difference in budget between this remake and the 1984 original. We have complicated tastes here at the MTV Movies Blog. While it’s easy to find a horror website devoted to all things Freddy Krueger, or a Twilighter site breathlessly counting down the days to “New Moon,” you might not see that chocolate-and-peanut-butter combination crossing paths very often in a single place.
That is just one of the reasons why we’re so excited to report on the upcoming “Nightmare on Elm Street” reboot. Because we looooove Freddy, and we also looooove Kellan Lutz. And like any good parent, we could never pick one over the other. Read more...
Jackie Earle Haley's casting as the new Freddy Krueger in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot has been welcomed by horror fans thanks largely to the actor's terrifying performances in "Little Children" and as Rorschach in "Watchmen." But it looks like "Watchmen" isn't the only beloved property making a leap into the latest horror remake, as John Connor himself is heading out of the "Terminator" war to do battle with Freddy Krueger himself.
Shock Till You Drop has the exclusive scoop that "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" actor Thomas Dekker is in final negotiations to star in "A Nightmare on Elm Street." The actor is set to play the character of Jesse, a jock on the local swim team. Read more...
