FROM MTV.COM: 50 Cent is a busy man — he just released a new album, Before I Self Destruct, and film of the same name, and he's working on several other movies in various stages of development. He's also an unpredictable man — as evidenced by his double-take-inducing appearance at last week's "New Moon" premiere. So, it makes sense that the rapper/actor/mogul would show up at the American Music Awards with Val Kilmer as his "date," eager to tell everyone that he's even busier and more unpredictable than they think.
"It's exciting," he said of the 2009 AMAs, walking down the red carpet alongside a grinning Kilmer, who could best be described as being dressed like Truman Capote's evil twin. "We came out here to enjoy the festivities. Val and I are going to sit and see what's going on. Are you wondering why we're together?"

I think Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson might be aiming to be cast in every single movie made this year. Though he was ultimately dropped as one of "The Expendables," he's racked up roles in "13," "Dead Man Running," "Twelve" and, most recently, one half of "Jekyll and Hyde." The tireless rap star and actor isn't out of steam yet, as he has just signed on to star in "Caught in the Crossfire." Jackson joins a cast that includes Chris Klein, Adam Rodriguez ("CSI Miami"), and Richard T. Jones ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles").
According to Variety, "Crossfire" is the feature debut of director Brian Miller, and will be based on his script. The story follows two homicide detectives who are investigating a gang-related homicide. The investigation apparently goes to some pretty dark places, as the two cops end up evading unfriendly fire from both the gang and a group of dirty cops. Jackson will play a gang member who reluctantly becomes an informer for the detectives. Read more...
You can never predict what concept will spark competition in Hollywood. At the turn of the century it was competing asteroids and volcanoes; this year it has been Jane Austen bloodbaths, the Roman Ninth Legion, and warring Greek gods. Now, Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Strange Case Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" has entered the competition. Last week, we told you Keanu Reeves was set to play the man of violent moods in "Jekyll." Now Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Forest Whitaker plan to give him a run for his money in "Jekyll and Hyde."
According to Variety, Abel Ferrara ("Bad Lieutenant") is set to direct a contemporary version of Stevenson's story. Whitaker and Jackson will play the two sides of the same man ... and something tells us that Jackson will probably be embodying the nastier half. But given Whitaker's terrifying, Oscar winning performance in "The Last King of Scotland," we could be completely off. It would certainly be a refreshing change to see Jackson play something like a soft-spoken scientist, wouldn't it? Read more...
Every Joel Schumacher film starts as an uphill battle just by virtue of its director's shaky record -- but he'll have some help on this one from a very diverse cast, and a well-reviewed novel. According to Variety, Schumacher will be directing an adaptation of Nick McDonell's debut novel "Twelve," starring Kiefer Sutherland, Chace Crawford, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Emma Roberts, and Ellen Barkin.
"Twelve" centers on a high school drop out named White Mike (who we're guessing is played by Crawford) who deals pot and an Ecstasy-like upper called "twelve" to Manhattan's young and rich. Mike avoids touching the stuff, preferring instead to observe the privileged individuals who buy it. But his easy profits go sour when his dealer's cousin is brutally murdered and his best friend is arrested for the crime. The story takes place over a dizzying and decadent five days, and ends as badly as all drug themed stories do. 50 Cent's film career is on fire this year! Weeks ago, he became one of "13” badasses, now he's jumped into a film that began shooting on Wednesday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he has signed onto Alex de Rakoff's London gangster movie "Dead Man Running," an indie thriller financed by two English soccer players. 50 Cent joins cast members Tamer Hassan ("Layer Cake"), Danny Dyer ("The Business"), Brenda Blethyn ("Secrets and Lies") and Monet Mazur ("Stoned").
The film centers around an ex-con who's trying to become a law abiding citizen again, when he's given 24 hours to come up with $150,000 to pay off a ruthless loan shark, or become a dead man running. He races from the dog tracks of East London to the drug scene of Manchester in order to raise the money, playing as fast and dirty as he has to in order to get the money before the deadline. 50 Cent won't be playing the lead of the ex-con, but the part of Thigo, the merciless loan shark. A few weeks ago, we brought you the news that bad boys Jason Statham, 50 Cent, and Mickey Rourke had joined the thriller "13” alongside up-and-comer Sam Riley.
As if that wasn't an impressive enough cast, they've been joined by two new heavies -- and we finally get the scoop on who's playing whom. According to Variety, Ray Winstone and Ray Liotta are joining the cast, making this one group of guys you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley -- or, in this case, an underground club.
Unfortunately, that's just what poor Riley does. He discovers an ugly underground sport where the wealthy bet on the unlucky individuals sold into a Russian Roulette-like competition. Rourke will play a convict from a Mexican prison who is sold into the game, and 50 Cent the man employed to escort him to the bloody game. Read more...
FROM MTV.COM: Now here's a movie that oozes sheer testosterone. According to Variety, 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham have signed on to star opposite Sam Riley in "13," a remake of the French film "13 Tzameti." Before you groan at the word "remake," and wonder why we can't leave European films alone, take a deep breath. This one not only has the consent of the original director, Gela Babluani, but is being written and directed by him.
The plot centers around a naive young man, who decides to steal a package, and follow its accompanying instructions hoping for a big payoff. But when he arrives at his destination, he finds a secret and ugly world, where men are gambling behind closed doors on the lives of other men. And he's been trailed there by an edgy, angry cop. I think we all know this isn't going to end well.

Notorious B.I.G. might have kicked in the door with a .44, but 50 Cent makes his entrance with a shotgun in the just-released trailer for his new movie, "Before I Self Destruct," which will accompany his album of the same name.
(Watch the trailer at ThisIs50.com.)
The film is "the directorial debut of Curtis Jackson," a.k.a. 50 — see what you think of the trailer!
T-minus 24 hours until Robert DeNiro reunites on the big screen with Al Pacino in "Righteous Kill" (good luck with those comparisons to "Heat," gentlemen). Sure everyone's talking about the two headliners in this one but let's not forget about Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson who also appears in the flick. We chatted with 50 way back in January in Sundance about the film and he told us all about his extracurricular fun with DeNiro on a gun range. Of course we had to ask who the better shot was. And of course 50 answered as you might expect him to.
It can't be anywhere in the league "Heat" but let's hope it's at least a little better than say, "Showtime," alright? Yes, DeNiro and Pacino are at it again, and this time they've brought 50 Cent along for the ride. The cop flick (you were expecting a musical comedy?) opens September 12. In the meantime take a gander at the poster.
