2009 MTV Movie AwardsHere we are. Sunday, May 31. I know why you're here. It's Colin Farrell's birthday. Let's party!

Ohhhhhh... you're here for that other reason. The 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Yeah, that's pretty big. The show will be packed full with trailer/clip premieres from the likes of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and "New Moon," and we're live blogging the whole shebang.

Will "Twilight" sweep the other six (now that Best Villain is out) of seven categories it is nominated in? Will there be a "Slumdog" upset? Perhaps a surprise or two? Keep refreshing here for the live blog and please, share your own observations in the comments section below.

9:00 pm: Whew, the sound's back. And Samberg is doing very dirty things.

9:02: Hey, Aziz Ansari beamed up Samberg! I get this reference! Spock's ping-pong cred is news to me though.

9:04: Glad to see he found his tux. Naked Samberg for the whole night might've pissed a few people off. Read more...

Hey folks... I just wanted to remind you again that our ultra-fancy countdown widget for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards is up and ready to go. It's a snap to install on your web page, blog or social networking service of choice... or anywhere else that can correctly read and process HTML code.

As an added bonus, we've sprinkled the widget with so much digital fairy dust that it will literally transform from ticking clock into streaming video window once the timer reaches zero. And just in case you really need it spelled out for you, said streaming video window will hook you in directly with the broadcast of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

This year's awards show will be epic, especially with exclusive clip premieres from "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" as well as... wait for it... the debut of the first "New Moon" trailer. There's still time to vote, so do it now if you haven't already.

You lucky, lucky MTV viewers. Living in the future -- yes, that's where we are right now -- comes with all sorts of perks. One of those perks is streaming video. More importantly, LIVE streaming video. And since the red carpet at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards is a bit too small to accommodate all of you, I'm here to offer you the next best thing.

Thanks to the power of the Internet, we will be beaming LIVE footage from the red carpet outside the Movie Awards ceremony directly into your computer box of choice. The stream is actually live and well right now, though there's not too much going on just yet. Then again, you never know who might pop their head in as the show draws nearer. Just make sure to flip your television over to MTV at 9pm EST this Sunday night. And remember, there's still time to cast your vote!

See that little Flash critter down there? It's hard to miss if your a Twilighter, what with the big "New Moon" poster plastered on it. That is your handy-dandy official 2009 MTV Movie Awards countdown widget. I'll give you one guess what that timer is ticking off the hours to. What's more, at the stroke of 9pm EST on Sunday, the widget will magically turn itself into a video window which is hooked in to stream the Movie Awards show direct. It's like "Cinderella" but earlier. And without the pumpkin.

If you've got a website or a blog or some other space on the web where you can make text and images appear, feel free to grab the widget and post it yourself. Just click the "Share" link located above the timer and either copy the embed code into your web space or use one of the MySpace/Facebook/Blogger/etc. links to do it automatically. And of course...

Make sure to tune in on Sunday night at 9pm EST for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards!

FROM MTV.COM: Every year, an inanimate (but vital) element of the MTV Movie Awards makes its debut: the stage. This year, it's a combination of lights, screens and statues that all hold little surprises to keep the audience interested.

"Inspiration varies year by year, whatever is in the air," set designer Anton Goss told MTV News while the set was still being pieced together in the Gibson Amphitheatre. "It's different and creative in that way."

Kristen StewartHey, look at that. The 2009 MTV Movie Awards are on THIS Sunday at 9pm EST. Did you know about it?

Yeah, I'm just playing. Obviously we've been pimping the upcoming MTVMAs for weeks now. And now it's almost go time. You still have time to vote though, and you should if you haven't already. Today's category previews take a closer look at the competition for Best Fight and Best Female Performance. Read more...

Here we have the last in a string of promos pimping 2009 MTV Movie Awards host Andy Samberg's guaranteed landslide. 11 categories, 11 statues for Mr. Samberg. There's even talk that he might put the smackdown on Generation Award winner Ben Stiller after the show and take that one too, but you didn't hear it from me.

Samberg certainly has the skills to get what he wants. Just check out this clip from "Gentle Dismemberment" featuring Rashida Jones. He doesn't even need to slaughter his victims; they know how bad he is. Dude's just that evil. Plus: Best. Moustache. Ever. Guaranteed win for Best Villain.

FROM MTV.COM: Since Dennis Miller emceed the inaugural MTV Movie Awards in 1992, "Saturday Night Live" has proven to be a fertile breeding ground for our awards-show hosts. "SNL" vets like Eddie Murphy, Jimmy Fallon and Mike Myers have since captained the Movie Awards, and this Sunday, May 31, at 9 p.m., Andy Samberg will assume hosting duties for the first time.

With just days to go until the big night, two men who have themselves quarterbacked MTV awards shows — "Get Him to the Greek" co-stars Russell Brand and Sean "Diddy" Combs — dealt out some wise words for Samberg heading into Sunday's action.

FROM MTV.COM: Bless Mark Burnett. He does our jobs for us. Host Andy Samberg and performer Eminem top Burnett's list of reasons to tune in to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday at 9pm, which he promises will be an "edgy, unpredictable" event.

Trailing not too far behind in the reality TV giant's list of reasons to watch is the veritable smorgasbord of exclusive movie clips premiering at the show, from the likes of "New Moon," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

2009 MTV Movie AwardsAll this week, MTV.com will be running category previews for this Sunday's 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Today's previews take a look at the Best Villain and Best WTF categories. Voting has been open for some time now; if you haven't done so yet, I urge you to head over to the website and make sure your voice is heard before it's too late.

Since we try to dish out something a little more personalized and special for you Movies Blog readers, I'm going to share my own thoughts on the previewed categories each day. No, that's not the treat. This is: you all get to vehemently disagree with me. I encourage everyone to hop in and -- respectfully please -- drag my opinions through the mud in the comments section below. More than that, give us your most heartfelt appeal for why one nominee or another should win. Try to keep it in these categories though; don't worry... we'll get to the others in the coming days.
