Lily AllenArticle by Tom Thorogood, MTV News UK

Singer Lily Allen is to make her big-screen debut in a new version of "Pride And Prejudice." The spoof flick will see the LDN popstrel play Lydia Bennett. Comedian Russell Brand will play her husband in the British film.

More experienced actors Stephen Fry and Carrie Fisher are also set to star. It marks Lily’s first foray into acting and is an unexpectedly lady-like part for the gobby singer.

We reckon she'll still be rocking Nike Trainers as well as a corset though!

Javier BardemIt's been a tough time for Francis Ford Coppola recently. Even as his eagerly anticipated return to filmmaking, "Youth Without Youth," is set for release, news broke last week that a burglary has put a future Coppola film, "Tetro," in jeopardy.

At least the filmmaking titan can expect one concerned phone call soon. Oscar nominee Javier Bardem told me yesterday, "I should call him today or tomorrow." Bardem has been rumored to play a role in "Tetro," a secretive film rumored to star Matt Dillon and begin shooting in February. Bardem confirmed to me that his teaming with Coppola could happen. "I am associated [with "Tetro." It was a conversation Francis and I had months ago. Since then we haven’t talked very much. He didn’t know when he was going to make it. Now it's time that we speak and see what's going on." Read More...

Sean AstinBack in August, the "Goonies" rumor mill went into overdrive when Corey Feldman revealed to MTV News that talks had resumed for a possible animated sequel to the classic 80s flick. Now his co-star Sean Astin has weighed in, exclaiming that as far as he's concerned, "Goonies 2” is an "absolute certainty."

"The writing's on the wall when they're releasing the ["Goonies"] DVD in such numbers," enthused the fan-favorite actor, who garnered acclaim in such films as "Rudy" and "The Lord of the Rings" and is now appearing in the baseball epic "The Final Season."

According to Feldman, numerous plotlines are floating around, with his favorite involving the children of the original Goonies embarking on an adventure of their own. That idea's a home run for Astin, who says the real-life growth of the actors should factor heavily into a "Goonies 2." Read More...

Sean Astin in 'The Lord of the Rings'Like so many bodies strewn lifeless across the Pelennor Fields, our hopes for an eventual "Hobbit" movie directed by Peter Jackson appeared dead, struck down as the battle for control of Middle-earth wages on. Now however, with recent news on possible movement on a New Line/Peter Jackson conciliation, it appears that our pint-sized friends may return yet again. And that's no surprise to one heroic hobbit.

"I've said since before we started making the movies and have never wavered for a second that 'The Hobbit' would get made," Sean Astin -- who portrayed Samwise Gamgee -- insisted, while out promoting his new film, "The Final Season." "The fanbase wants it. There's too much money to be made doing it. It seems like maybe the time is now." Read More...

Martin FreemanI guarantee this is the most charmingly angst-ridden and utterly honest actor you'll hear from today. Chatting with Martin Freeman about his new film, "The Good Night," directed by Jake Paltrow (and co-starring his sister Gwyneth), it's immediately clear that the former star of "The Office" can't help but be forthright about the business and the challenges he faces in his career, not to mention nudity, and premature mid-life crises. Oh and he has the mouth of a sailor too.

MTV: What was your initial take on the script?

Martin Freeman: I was just about to finish "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" and I got the script from Jake Paltrow. I didn't know him. I just liked it. It was the combination of liking it and being surprised that you'd been sent it in the first place. Apart from "The Office," I don't know what Jake would have seen of mine. I'm guessing nothing.
