Doctor Who

The wizarding world of "Harry Potter" and the Whoverse are about to collide. "Deathly Hallows" director David Yates has announced his partnership with BBC to direct a big-screen take on "Doctor Who," the long-running British television series about the sci-fi exploits of the Time Lord. Yates says the movie has no writers as of yet, is two to three years from beginning production, and will have little to nothing to do with the "Who" continuity that's come before. "Immortals" arrived in theaters this weekend and stole the box office's thunder, proving that fall season moviegoers were indeed craving some hard R-rated action. Of course, the comparisons to "300" couldn't have hurt Tarsem Singh's latest picture's box office performance. Over on Splash Page, we measured out the similarities and differences between "Immortals" and "300" and decided which one we like better. It was a close call, but there was a winner.

Man of Steel

Henry Cavill won't burst onto the scene as Superman for a little while yet, but you're about to get your first good look at the man in action-hero mode this weekend with the release of "Immortals." It ain't easy being Superman. Sure, he's got X-ray vision, and yes, bullets bounce off his chest.
