What do Nick Fury, Agent J and Austin Powers have in common? "They're all secret agents" is the obvious answer, but look deeper… think back… the actors who played those characters are among the finest MTV Movie Awards hosts of all time!

Indeed, we've had our fair share of memorable hosts over the years. There's no forgetting 2007's host Sarah Silverman, who ruthlessly ripped into the star-studded crowd with equal parts shock and hilarity. Jimmy Fallon took a gentler approach when he hosted in 2005; looking back on that night, it's easy to see why he's as widely adored on the talk show circuit as he is now. Even as recently as 2011, Jason Sudeikis left audiences in stitches at the Movie Awards, a perfect amuse-bouche ahead of his then-upcoming R-rated raunch-fest "Horrible Bosses."

Russell Brand joins the ranks of our great MTV Movie Awards hosts this year, but before we see what he's made of, let's dwell on the past a little bit longer. Which MTV Movie Awards host was the very best? Let us know by voting in the poll below!

People, if you're not already hip to this lesson, let us give you a tip: cool guys don't look at explosions. It's just science, really.

Actually, what it really is, is a callback to one of the best movie spoofs in MTV Movie Awards history, when Andy Samberg and Will Ferrell teamed up with J.J. Abrams (what?) at the 2009 show to stress to movie lovers the most important lesson one can take away from the action movie genre.

But that's not the first (or last) time the Movie Awards have poked fun at our favorite flicks. The boys of *NSYNC teamed up to save the world from "Armageddon" levels of doom in 1999, and later, in 2003, Justin Timberlake was back again, ready and reloaded to take on "The Matrix." As recently as 2011, Jason Sudeikis and Emma Stone went as far as to apply a live piano show to the art of movie-spoofing, as seen above.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. There are plenty of other movie spoofs to think back on fondly, but which one is the funniest of them all? We're leaving that choice up to you in the Movie Awards poll below!

The MTV Movie Awards are all grown up! This year, we're celebrating 21 years of Golden Popcorn glory, so you'll forgive us for feeling all nostalgic. After all, can you name another award show where comedians can make their victory speeches fully in character as a hippie? Where else are you going to see Sacha Baron Cohen land on Eminem's face, butt-first?

Make no mistake, there's no shortage of outrageous moments in Movie Awards history. We're looking at you, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake. Don't think we forgot your awkward gropey antics from last year. And Seth Rogen and James Franco, you're not getting away clean either; our clothes still reek of the "Pineapple Express" you sparked on stage in 2008.

Yes, there are lots of outrageous MTV Movie Awards moments to choose from—but which moment is the most outrageous? That's what you're here to decide, by voting in our poll below!

"Dark Shadows" fans desperate for footage from director Tim Burton and star Johnny Depp's adaptation of the cult classic gothic soap finally got their wishes fulfilled this week with the first official trailer's release. Whether or not the arrival of that trailer is a good thing? Well, your mileage may vary.

First appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show before hitting the web, the first look at "Dark Shadows" makes one thing very clear: this is a comedy. Burton, Depp and the gang are going for laughs, big ones, in their take on the vampire Barnabas and the other strange denizens of Collinwood manor. Fans looking for a dark, serious version of "Dark Shadows" are likely to walk away disappointed.

John Carter

All that talk about "John Carter's" weak box office draw and the slew of critics now deeming the film a failure from the get-go isn't stopping fans from demanding a sequel.

Called "Take me back to Barsoom! I want John Carter to have a sequel!," the fan-driven petition already has 1,798 members (at the time this article was published). The Facebook petition encourages more people to go out and watch "John Carter" and also consists of fans sharing their own memories and experiences with Edgar Rice Burroughs' genre-defining series.

It began with 32 movies. Five additional films entered the fray through the Wild Card round. Several weeks and head-to-head battles later, it all comes down to two: "Cosmopolis" versus "The Hunger Games."

In one corner is the Robert Pattinson-starring thriller about one extremely bad day in Manhattan. In the other, the story of a young woman forced to take extreme measures to protect herself and the people she loves. One film an underdog in this competition, the other a frontrunner from the very beginning. Both have had extraordinary arcs throughout the MTV Movie Brawl 2012, but only one can walk away with the title of can't-miss movie of the year.

The Movie Brawl's final round is open for voting until 5PM EST on Monday (January 23). Only then will we finally know which movie stands at the top of the heap in the brawl for it all!

Hunger Games

The MTV Movie Brawl 2012 is officially on! After the initial play-in, wild card, Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds, we're finally down to only four movies competing to be crowned the can't-miss movie of the year. As always, the choice remains entirely up to YOU. Which movie will win the brawl for it all? Vote at MTV Movies Blog and make your choice known!

Ladies and gentlemen, your trip to Mars has been postponed — all thanks to an unassuming archer named Katniss Everdeen.

"John Carter's" valiant quest for MTV Movie Brawl 2012 supremacy has finally come to an end, after rounds and rounds of the Taylor Kitsch-led movie surpassing expectations and cracking into the Elite Eight. Alas, in the end, it was no match for the top-ranked "Hunger Games," which continues on its expected path towards the final round.

Tributes have had an easier time in the brawl for it all than most competitors, but the "Hunger Games" may have finally met its match in the form of a former boy wizard. Indeed, "The Woman in Black" has been on a tear, unexpectedly toppling "Snow White and the Huntsman" in the Sweet 16 and "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" in the Elite 8. Daniel Radcliffe fans can hold their heads high as they march forward through the brawl. But with an epic battle between "Hunger Games" and "Woman in Black" now underway, the decision of who moves onto the final round is completely in your hands. Who continues in this competition: the fan-favorite, or the dark horse?

Against all odds, defying all expectations, "The Twilight Saga" is no more… in the MTV Movie Brawl 2012, that is.

In the second Robert Pattinson vs. Robert Pattinson duel of this competition, it was the fan-favorite "Breaking Dawn: Part 2" that went down for the count, despite its status as the top vote getter in the initial play-in round and its performance in the Sweet 16. Rob's fans have made a grand statement by pushing "Cosmopolis" into the Final Four over "Twilight," showing that the majority of them are more invested in the actor's unknown future than his sparkly-skinned past.

"Cosmopolis" beating "Breaking Dawn" is easily the upset of the tournament so far, but is there enough momentum to defeat "The Dark Knight Rises," Christopher Nolan's final dance with the Bat? Batman is a fearsome foe indeed, proving unexpectedly strong against both "The Avengers" and "Dark Shadows." If Gotham City can rally behind their hero one more time, Batman could well beat Rpattz for a trip to the final round.

And just like that, the MTV Movie Brawl 2012 is down to four.

Starting with 32 initial players and a wild card round that introduced another five, the brawl for it all has finally whittled itself down to only four remaining competitors: "Cosmopolis," the Robert Pattinson thriller that beat "Breaking Dawn" for a top spot; "The Dark Knight Rises," Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie; "The Hunger Games," the upcoming young adult franchise starring Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence; and "The Woman In Black," an unexpected dark horse after tearing through fan favorites "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."

MTV Movie Brawl

Voting is open on the Final Four until Thursday (January 19) at 11:59 PM EST. Starting Friday (January 20), we'll enter the one-on-one final round, where only one movie will walk away from the brawl with the title of can't-miss movie of 2012. As always, keep voting and make your voice heard!
