'Star Wars' And The MTV Movie Awards: What Might Have Been

There were no MTV Movie Awards when “Star Wars” was released in 1977 (there was no MTV yet, either). If there were, it’s a safe bet that the film would have swept pretty much all of the categories. Aside from Movie of the Year and Best Cast, “Star Wars” would surely have blown away the competition in these races:

'That's My Boy' Keeps MTV Sneak Peek Week Going!

MTV Sneak Peek Week continues! The road to the MTV Movie Awards kicked off last night with "Snow White and the Huntsman," with stars Kristen Stewart and Sam Clafin joining MTV's very own Josh Horowitz to premiere an exclusive clip followed by a live Q&A. The fun continues tonight with a very different movie from the swords and sorcery fantasy flick: "That's My Boy," the hard R-rated comedy from Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg.

Tune into MTV tonight at 11 p.m. ET to see Samberg and his co-stars present an exclusive clip from "That's My Boy." In case you're late to the news, MTV Sneak Peek Week is back for the second year in a row in the lead-up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, and it all starts tonight (May 29) with "Snow White and the Huntsman."

At 11 p.m. ET tonight, "Snow White" stars Kristen Stewart and Sam Clafin will appear on MTV with our very own Josh Horowitz to premiere a brand new exclusive clip from the upcoming fantasy flick, out in theaters this Friday (June 1). New 'Dark Knight Rises' Footage To Debut At MTV Movie Awards

FROM MTV NEWS: Listen, we're just as excited about "The Dark Knight Rises" as you are. We've tracked the increasing clarity of Bane's voice. We've scoured every frame of the trailer for clues. Most importantly, we've been counting down the days until July 20, and frankly, that's just too far away.

So how does June 3 sound? That's the date we will be premiering exclusive footage from Christopher Nolan's conclusion to his Batman trilogy at the MTV Movie Awards live on MTV. It will be your best opportunity to catch a glimpse at the summer's most anticipated film before the July release date.

MTV Movie Awards Kick Off Sneak Peek Week With 'Snow White' And More!

FROM MTV NEWS: The 2012 MTV Movie Awards are approaching fast and there's a lot to look forward to! For starters, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller and Logan Lerman will join us to debut the first official "Perks of Being a Wallflower" trailer. But before the big day, MTV is hosting our second annual Sneak Peek Week!

Starting Tuesday May 29 through Friday, June 1, we'll screen a few of this summer's hottest movies at Universal CityWalk. The lineup includes "Snow White and the Huntsman," "Magic Mike," "That's My Boy" and "Rock of Ages." Hooray for Movie Awards season and the cutthroat competition between this year's very deserving group of nominees! And although the majority of the nominations were snagged by some popular wizards, bridesmaids and tributes, there is plenty of Movie Awards love and Golden Popcorn to go around. Kinda.

Speaking of Movie Awards love, we have to give it up to first-time nominee Oliver Cooper for putting together this very clever campaign video and Facebook page.

"These are the nominees for Best Onscreen Dirtbag, but only one of them has a proven track record as a douchebag," the ad begins. "He's been called a crude, pushy creep, and 'the most annoying movie character since Jar Jar Binks.'"

Sure, we're admittedly a bit biased in our award show's favor, but let's face the facts. What do Nick Fury, Agent J and Austin Powers have in common? "They're all secret agents" is the obvious answer, but look deeper… think back… the actors who played those characters are among the finest MTV Movie Awards hosts of all time!

Indeed, we've had our fair share of memorable hosts over the years. There's no forgetting 2007's host Sarah Silverman, who ruthlessly ripped into the star-studded crowd with equal parts shock and hilarity. Jimmy Fallon took a gentler approach when he hosted in 2005; looking back on that night, it's easy to see why he's as widely adored on the talk show circuit as he is now. Even as recently as 2011, Jason Sudeikis left audiences in stitches at the Movie Awards, a perfect amuse-bouche ahead of his then-upcoming R-rated raunch-fest "Horrible Bosses."
