Today brings another special Friday edition of MTV's Gore Girls. With "New Moon" freshly arrived in theaters, we decided to try something a little bit different. Instead of Jenni and Terri discussing a single movie, they watched "Bram Stoker's Dracula" -- a romance-focused vampire story, albeit with quite a bit more horror than Stephenie Meyer's works -- and discussed it in relation to "Twilight." For those who haven't seen it, "Dracula" is a pretty straightforward adaptation of Bram Stoker's 1897 book. Gary Oldman stars as the king blood-sucker, alongside Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker, Winona Ryder as his beloved wife Mina and Anthony Hopkins as Abraham Van Helsing. It was a bit of a sensation when it hit theaters in 1992. Nothing approaching what we see today with "Twilight," but a similar sort of vampire-focused craze. Read More...

Our vampire-themed month for the Gore Girls continues today with "30 Days of Night." The setup is actually pretty ingenious for a vampire movie. The blood-suckers hate sunlight, right? And Alaska has, what, 100 days or so of sunlight each year? There's no better place for them to call home, provided they can survive that long hibernation. And "30 Days of Night" has the added bonus of being directed by David Slade, who just wrapped filming on the third "Twilight" movie, "Eclipse." Take it away, Jenni and Terri. Read More...

In honor of the November 20 release of "New Moon," the Gore Girls are going to put the focus this month on vampires. First up is "Let the Right One In," which is currently getting an Americanized remake -- "Let Me In" -- from director Matt Reeves. The original Swedish film, directed by Tomas Alfredson, follows a young boy named Oskar who seeks vengeance on those who have wronged him after he meets Eli, a young girl who turns out to be a vampire. Take it away, Jenni and Terri! Read More...

Have you ever seen "Creepshow"? Think of "Trick 'r Treat" as a sort of Halloween-themed homage, a spiritual successor with none of the same players and an entirely different intent. It's an anthology movie, four discrete stories set on the same block in a sleepy little suburban town one Halloween night. Was it creepy enough to scare the Gore Girls? Hit the jump to find out! "Saw" really needs very little introduction. The series has come a long way since the original hit theaters just a couple days before Halloween in 2004, but that first movie is still ingrained in the minds of anyone who saw it. Two men awaken, chained up on opposite sides of a sealed room. Between them lies a corpse with a tape deck in one hand and a handgun in the other. They soon learn that they are pawns in a deadly test put to them by a sadistic serial killer known as Jigsaw. Blood-letting ensues. See what the Gore Girls thought after the jump. Read More...

This week, the Gore Girls decided to go easy on themselves. Wusses. "Gremlins," directed by Joe Dante, isn't strictly a horror movie. More of a comedy/horror. I'm sure a young child would be suitably terrified, and plenty of the right horror movie beats are hit, but this isn't a traditional scare flick. The story follows a young man who receives a furry little creature as a Christmas gift. The season's greetings fall apart when the beastie -- a Mogwai -- multiplies and his dopplegangers transform into hideous, green lizard-like gremlins. Read More...

This week, Gore Girls Jenni and Terri decided to tackle director Kevin Tenney's "Night of the Demons." This 1988 horror flick -- a fertile time for the genre, depending on your tastes -- plays like cautionary tale for those who would rather avoid entanglements with the underworld. On Halloween night, 10 teens decide it would be a good idea to stage a seance in an abandoned funeral parlor which happens to be built on cursed ground. Not. Smart. Let's see what the Gore Girls thought of it.... Read More...

This week's movie is one that really needs no introduction. If you know what a zombie is, then chances are that you also have at least some passing familiarity with George A. Romero's seminal work, "Night of the Living Dead." The term "zombie" wasn't born until much later, but the shambling, flesh-eating undead that terrorize the movie's human players were the template for all of the zombies to come. Read More...

Jenni and Terri revisit Roman Polanski for this week's edition of Gore Girls, shrieking their way through the terror of his classic "Rosemary's Baby." In the movie, a married couple moves into a creepy, old New York City apartment. Strange things start to happen and... well... you probably know the rest. The wife is mysteriously impregnated and her baby turns out to be... let's just say he's trouble and leave it at that, shall we? Enjoy the Gore Girls' take on "Rosemary's Baby." Read More...

Today's Gore Girls pick is the Catherine Deneuve-starring Roman Polanski classic, "Repulsion," the director's first English-language film. The story follows Carol (Deneuve), a sexually repressed young woman who suffers a psychotic break after her sister/roommate leaves her all alone in her apartment for a weekend. This isn't traditional horror, certainly not by today's standards, but I'll let Jenni & Terri give you the scoop. Read More...
