This Friday, comedy superstar Judd Apatow unleashes his official summer comedy for 2009, "Funny People." In it, Adam Sandler stars as George Simmons, a blazing hot comedian/actor who learns that he is afflicted with some sort of incurable disease. He hires a budding young comic named Ira Wright (Seth Rogen) to be his personal assistant, and the two become fast friends as George comes to grips with facing his own mortality.
To celebrate the impending dose of Sandler, today's eBay Prop-Watch highlights a cool item from the 2006 family comedy "Click." Tomorrow, a good portion of the MTV Movies team will pull up stakes and trek out to southern California for the annual San Diego Comic-Con. I'll be here in New York manning the Movies Blog, but most of the rest of the gang will be conducting interviews and gallivanting around the convention hall with cameras -- of the still and video variety -- in tow.
As you know, here on eBay Prop-Watch I usually try to bring you cool auctions for... well... props! Today is a bit different however. "Ghostbusters" is pretty much the best that movies get, at least from where I'm sitting. I've always been up front about my undying passion for "Star Wars" here on MTV Movies Blog, but "Ghostbusters" is one of the tens of flicks that fit comfortably into the second place spot on my all-time favorites list.
In an IM exchange with Movies Editor Josh Horowitz a few moments ago, I informed him that today had "somehow" turned into a heavily "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"-themed day. His response? "With an opening like that, it merits it."
Today's pick is kind of deep cut, but it's so freaking cool that I had to give it a shout. In 1994, director John Carpenter released a horror flick called "In the Mouth of Madness." If you haven't seen it, you should. Critics didn't love it and, I'll admit, there are some gaping flaws. It nonetheless remains an atmospheric, incredibly creepy scarefest with deep-rooted influences from literary horror genius H.P. Lovecraft.
