--On the flip side, studio heads at Sony are hoping that Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp are up for a "District 9" sequel, but the producer-director pair is allegedly holding off until they "figure out what the story is and organize their respective schedules." --Sylvester Stallone has opened up on the secret scene in "The Expendables" featuring himself, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and my greatest dreams come to life. According to the actor, Willis plays the man who hires Stallone and his titular team for "a death-defying mission," but there's another operative that could take on the job — none other than Stallone's longtime rival, played by Schwarzenegger. "I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time, but I never thought it would come to fruition," said Stallone. (PopWatch)

--NBC is going from "Heroes" to "Zeroes" in an all-new television project from "Crank" duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Titled "Zeroes," the one-hour NBC project will focus on a crisis situation's final hour. --Writers, producers and all-around cool guys Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who pretty much have an equity stake in Hollywood at this point, have some things to say about their upcoming View-Master movie. Apparently the idea for the story was born before the classic 3-D viewing toy came into the picture as a peg for a movie, from the mind of "Fringe" writer Brad Kane. --Terry Gilliam is getting back to his work on the man of La Mancha, Don Quixote. The filmmaker's seemingly cursed efforts at bringing the mad knight to the silver screen seem to have finally paid off, likely thanks to the goodwill his work on the soon-to-be-released "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" has fostered. Said Gilliam of "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote": "We're up and running again, we've rewritten the script and finally got it back, the budget's come in... and I think we've found our Quixote! But who's it going to be? Well, I'm not going to tell you, but it'll start next Spring." (Empire Online)

--Accomplished filmmaker Paul Schrader (he wrote "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull"!) is coming back to Hollywood. Halfway at least. In a joint Hollywood/Bollywood production, Schrader will direct "Xtrme City," which follows a U.S. ranger and an Indian commando as they comb the Mumbai underworld for the Yank's kidnapped sister-in-law. --Eli Roth, who recently starred alongside Brad Pitt in "Inglourious Basterds," is certainly keeping busy. Speaking in Mexico at the Morelia Film Festival, Roth revealed that he'll soon be showing "Cotton" to the Sundance team for a potential January 2010 festival premiere and that he's currently busy developing scripts for sci-fi project "Endangered Species" and "Grindhouse" tie-in "Thanksgiving." -- You know what's pretty crazy? This trailer for "The Crazies," the upcoming remake of George A. Romero's classic horror film. The movie, directed by Breck Eisner ("Sahara"), focuses on a Midwestern town that's gone bizonkers due to a mysterious toxin in the water supply. Overture Films has issued a casting announcement for Matt Reeves' "Let Me In," a remake of the Swedish vampire flick "Let the Right One In." Joining the cast are Kodi Smit-McPhee ("The Road"), Chloe Moretz ("500 Days of Summer") and Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor").

--As if the badass trailer for Chris Nolan's "Inception" wasn't enough to get you excited, there's more news on the hush-hush project today. IMAX Corporation announced that the sci-fi flick will hit IMAX theaters and regular theaters simultaneously on July 16, 2010. -- Darren Aronofsky may be busy with "Black Swan" -- which sounds a lot like "Fight Club" with ballerinas to me -- but he's going to need something more grounded as a follow-up to 2008's Oscar-winning "The Wrestler." And here it is. The filmmaker has partnered with Time Inc. Studios and XYZ Films to direct/produce an "indie heist thriller" based on the 2006 robbery of the Securitas Depot in Tonbridge, England, in which thieves made off with roughly $85 million. -- Columbia Pictures has picked up the rights to Lucy Prebble's stage play "Enron," which chronicles the high-profile fall of the Texas energy concern. -- Jerry Bruckheimer is preparing to blow up the small screen with loud noises, lots of gunplay and spectacular explosions. -- Filmmaker Charles Burnett is stepping up to direct a feature-length documentary about President Barack Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham. The film, titled "Stanley Ann Dunham: A Most Generous Spirit" will not only track our president's childhood, but also Dunham's work in helping out developing countries.
