Tom CruiseContirbuted by Jeff Sneider

Some random AICN reader calling himself ‘supastring’ wrote in to report that Tom Cruise was on some popular program called “Smap Smap” in Japan where he revealed that he has started working on the story for a fourth film in the “Mission: Impossible” series, and that he’s been “thinking about how to stage a big action sequence in downtown Tokyo.”

Some of you might bemoan the idea of another "Mission: Impossible" film but I, for one, have always preferred Cruise’s Ethan Hunt to Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne, or any of the modern incarnations of James Bond, although to be fair, I am a Tom Cruise apologist who thinks the man is incapable of giving a flat-out bad performance.

Of course, this should be treated as just a rumor at this point but if “M:I:IV” were to happen relatively soon, we wanted to stay ahead of the development process and recommend 10 directors who might be a good fit for the series. Read More...

Robert Pattinson in GQ MagazineYou'd think by now we all would have figured out the secret to Robert Pattinson's sex appeal and overwhelming success with the ladies. It's that hair and that smug devil-may-care attitude. That is one very lethal combination.

But, if those reasons weren't enough, his "Twilight" co-star, Kellan Lutz (we should note that Ryan Seacrest thinks Kellan is the better looking Cullen…sacrilegious!), knows the secret to RPattz success. "His accent and his crazy hairdo get the girls swooning. I don’t have those locks," he told Ryan Seacrest on his morning show. Silly us, we forgot all about the accent! Read More...

Leighton MeesterContributed by Kathleen Newman-Bremang

There comes a time in every young TV actress’ career when she decides (read: attempts) to make the inevitable leap from small screen siren to big screen bombshell. For Leighton Meester, that time is now. The ‘Gossip Girl’ star will reportedly take on the lead role in “The Roommate,” a thriller set in a college dorm revolving around Meester’s character and -- yeah, you guessed it -- a crazy roommate.

Like so many of television’s leading ladies before her, Leighton has chosen to kick off her big budget film career with a classic genre: The Predictably Unpredictable Thriller. Let’s just say the transition hasn’t been the smoothest for some of her predecessors.

So, for Leighton’s sake, let’s take a look back at the TV ladies made the move to movies- and what we can learn from them. Read More...

Kristen Stewart

From George Lucas to Michael Phelps to the Octo-Mom, every famous person has to deal with it at some point: Backlash. But now, as the vitriol begins to boil around Kristen Stewart, we have to wonder: Are the Twilighters being too mean?

The latest brouhaha began brewing when Robert Pattinson showed up to Sunday’s 81st Annual Academy Awards without the “Twilight” leading lady on his arm. As fans know, from the MTV Movie Awards to Comic-Con and various other events throughout 2009, it was extremely rare to see one actor making a publicity appearance without the other nearby. Immediately, rumors began circulation that there was more to KStew’s conspicuous absence than met the eye. Read More...

Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Academy AwardsSome people watch the Oscars looking for Brad and Angelina, Jack Nicholson in the front row, or the annual musical tributes to the past year in film. Sunday’s ceremony, however, brought a new star to the game: Robert Pattinson.

It was a blast watching the “Twilight” heartthrob navigate the red carpet this year for one main reason: He’s still a normal guy. Yes, an abnormally good-looking normal guy, but Robert is every bit as self-deprecating, easily embarrassed, and endearingly sincere as any of us would be during our first time at an Oscar ceremony – and let’s hope no matter how big he gets, he stays that way. Hey, character actresses: Want an Oscar? Send your head shot to Woody Allen.

Penélope Cruz's win last night for playing the crazy/lovable María Elena in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" marks the fourth time an actress has won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for being in an Allen film. While it's true that the Woodster makes a lot of movies, those are still some pretty amazing statistics.

Odds are even better you'll get an Oscar in a Woody Allen film if your name is Dianne Wiest. She won two Best Supporting Actress statues thanks to Woody — one in 1986 for "Hannah and Her Sisters" and one in 1994 for "Bullets Over Broadway." The other winner was Mira Sorvino, for 1995's "Mighty Aphrodite." Read More...

Wil WheatonContributed by Wil Wheaton

You may know Wil Wheaton as Gordie in "Stand By Me," or perhaps you know him as Wesley Crusher from "Star Trek: The Next Generation." We however, know him as a nerd god, who's a walking encyclopedia of "Trek" and "Watchmen" knowledge. That's why we invited him to the taping of our new movie show "Spoilers" (airing this Saturday at 8pm EST!), to see "Watchmen" and "Trek" footage. You can read Wil Wheaton's thoughts on "Watchmen" here, and "Trek" below.

It was all stuff that I've seen already, but it looked cool and everyone in the theater loved it. You know, a lot of my fellow Trekkies are all worked up because the trailer shows all this action stuff, and I keep hearing people dismissively calling it "Star Trek: 90210” just because there are young people in it or something. I really hope those guys can take a step back and realize a couple of things: these trailers and previews aren't aimed at us; they're aimed at teenagers, so they have to be presented in a language that they understand. 'Friday the 13th'Are you wondering if the new “Friday the 13th” has more or less drugs, sex and killing than the original films? Are you wondering if any of the kills in the new flick can even break into Jason’s Top 10? Yeah, well so was I – the only difference is, I’m the type of guy who sits down and watches all twelve Jason movies in 6 days, just to get to the bottom of such questions.

And while I was watching 183 people get stabbed, shot and sliced up, I couldn’t help but notice certain things about Jason – things that could have saved valuable, fictional lives! So now, in the interest of humanity, I humbly present my observations on How to Survive a Jason Attack: Read More...

I really am torn over these latest shenanigans by crazy-town actor supreme Joaquin Phoenix. Is his supposed retirement from acting for real? That part isn't so far-fetched but the rap career? And having it all documented by Casey Affleck? It's all got my BS sensor working overtime. And then there's the instantly infamous appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman." Riveting television, yes! But what is it? A man in the midst of a meltdown or performance art (his "Two Lovers" director claims the music switch is for real). Again, my jaded mind is leaning towards the latter.

It all has me thinking back to my last encounter with Joaquin. Phoenix is a notoriously horrible interview. By all accounts he hates talking to the press even more than watching himself on screen (he never watches his own films if you didn't know). When I chatted with him about "Reservation Road" at the end of 2007 I couldn't resist bringing up one of my childhood faves, "Spacecamp." He didn't take too kindly to the trip down memory lane. The result? The interview earned a spot on our Most Bizarre Moments show. Take a look. Cringe. And tell us what you think.

Is Joaquin losing it or is it all just an act? What do you make of the star's supposed retirement from acting?
