OrphanIt's a relatively quiet day Around the Blogosphere, but I guess that is to be expected with San Diego Comic-Con now in full swing. There have been a lot of exciting happenings IN the office today. Emmanuelle Chriqui -- ie Sloan from "Entourage" -- was a guest on "It's On With Alexa Chung" today, and it caused quite a stir in the newsroom as people rushed downstairs to gawk.

We also debuted the awesome "Ninja Assassin" trailer this morning. Exclusive or not, I'm a sucker for slickly produced martial arts action and that's exactly what the trailer delivers. But then, I would expect no less from the Wachowski Brothers/Joel Silver production team. What else is popping out there you ask? Keep reading to know the score. Read More...

With most of the MTV Movies team on their way to San Diego and Comic-Con officially getting underway tomorrow, I figure I ought to show the annual geek gathering some love. So today's post highlights the many different guides to getting the most out of the convention from Around the Blogosphere. There are a surprising number of niche-focused features, and I've tried to round most of those up along with a general breakdown or two. Even if, like me, you're unable to attend this year, you can at least live vicariously through this guides. Woo.

-- First up is a day-by-day breakdown of the essential panels to catch at SDCC, io9's "Your Can't-Miss-It Guide To Comic Con 2009!" My personal pick is the one for Mike Judge's "Extract." "Idiocracy" didn't thrill me, but I grew up on "Beavis & Butthead." Also, "Office Space" is one of the greatest comedies. Ever. (io9) Read More...

A lot of content popping today Around the Blogosphere. Before getting into vampire romance and genital mutilation, I'll start things light with a rebooted take on "Point Break," Cinemash-style. Human Giants Aziz Ansari and Rob Huebel are joined by "Reno 911" cops Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant in a return to the classic Patrick Swayze/Keanu Reeves surfer cop drama.

Plenty more to come, so click yourself past the break. Read More...

Duncan JonesToday marks the 40th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing. Conspiracy theorists who have been crying "hoax!" for the past four decades may not be terribly excited, but everyone else should be able to appreciate the significance of this momentous event. We went into space people! And landed on another planet! ANOTHER PLANET!!

Anyway. A lot of moon-related chatter buzzing Around the Blogosphere today. Along with a few other things that are similarly out of this world. Like unbearable movies and unbearable movie journalists. I don't like to sling mud at my colleagues, but names aren't named and there's some funny stuff to read. Don't take my word for it though. Follow the jump to see for yourself! Read More...

JawsYeah, there's really no other way to cut it. The kids love "Potter." The grown-ups love "Potter." Hell, even the Pope loves "Potter." Director David Yates' silver screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" has stirred the hearts and minds of the 'sphere's writers.

Which isn't to say that I've filled yet another Around the Blogosphere post with nothing but "Potter" content. It's only mostly about "Potter" and angles relating to the same. And then there's something about "Jaws" too. Boy wizards and giant, man-eating sharks... not quite "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus," but close enough. Read More...

HumpdayLots of good stuff popping around the blogosphere today. The problem with these round-up posts is that it's hard to really collect everything. Feel free to tip me here though; with so much stuff to file through, I will undoubtedly miss things. If you feel there's something that might be suitable for Around the Blogosphere, hit me up at tips@mtvmoviesblog.com. For now though, here's the latest set of click-worthy links...

-- MTV contributor Jenni Miller has a great opinion piece up at Cinematical about director Mark Duplass's Sundance darling "Humpday," which is now out in limited release. Take a look at our exclusive clip if you don't know about the movie, which also features Joshua Leonard ("The Blair Witch Project") in a starring role. Jenni contends that "Humpday" is not in fact a bromance movie, despite the heavy overtones of straight male-on-straight male action. A well thought out and easy to digest set of observations. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceThere's magic in the virtual air this morning, after last night's midnight launch of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." One of our valued MTV interns was on-hand to enjoy the festivities, and she'll have a full report for you later today. For now though, let's take a look at the bountiful gifts the blogosphere has given us this fine summer morning.

-- Fan fervor over the "Harry Potter" series has spawned all sorts of wacky... stuff. Bootleg swag, themed bands, humor videos, fan fiction... you know, stuff. The fine folks over at /Film have posted a video from Indy Mogul. A "Harry Potter" rap battle. The contenders: The Boy Who Lived vs. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. I'll admit, I couldn't bring myself to watch it all. Can you? (/Film) Read More...
