It's been some time since we heard anything about Brett Easton Ellis' script adaptation of Adam Davies' 2002 novel The Frog King, which is set to star Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Now, the "500 Days of Summer" star reveals to MTV News that the project isn't exactly moving forward.

"That movie's having logistical troubles," says Gordon-Levitt, "It's not worth writing about at this point." Fine Joseph. We won't.

Despite the abysmal reviews and box office take of Easton Ellis' "The Informers" last month, his American Psycho cred is still serving him well, as there are several adaptations of his other work in development. Among them are the semi-autobiographical "Lunar Park," which may star Benicio del Toro in the role of the the acclaimed author. There's also word of a potential sequel to the film version of "Less Than Zero," which Ellis hopes would feature a return performance by Robert Downey Jr.

Similarly, Gordon-Levitt has no shortage of upcoming projects himself, including this year's "500 Days of Summer," a favorite from Sundance 2009, and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." Then there's the mega-secret sci-fi ensemble flick "Inception" from "Dark Knight" director Christoper Nolan. Not enough? Gordon-Levitt will also be busy with the indie flick "Hesher", which will team him with writer/director Spencer Susser and producer/star Natalie Portman.

While it’s entirely possible that “The Frog King” may be back on its webbed feet in the not-too distant future, it sounds like fans of the original novel should join Gordon-Levitt in not holding their breath on this one.

Are you sad to see this project getting held up or should everyone be moving on to something else? Let us know below!

Sure everyone's talking about the two headliners in this one but let's not forget about Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson who also appears in the flick. We chatted with 50 way back in January in Sundance about the film and he told us all about his extracurricular fun with DeNiro on a gun range. Of course we had to ask who the better shot was. And of course 50 answered as you might expect him to.

Today, fellow blogger Josh Horowitz weighs in with his own thoughts.

On the Line: I'm attending a press screening at Sundance as opposed to a public one. All that means is the people I'm sitting with are allowed to eat in their seats and are more likely to make snarky comments about Robert Redford. I've heard about this flick for a while. Colin Hanks, John Malkovich, and even a little Tom Hanks. Doesn't sound too Sundance-y but I'm game.

In the Theater: From the moment Malkovich enters I am thoroughly charmed. Buck Howard is a has-been by A-list entertainment standards but years after Johnny Carson, this oh-so-cheesy stage magician is still playing to at least half-full audiences across America. Armed with a half dozen catch phrases that feel all too authentic ("I love this town!"), Malkovich hires at-a-crossroads youngster (aren't we all) Colin Hanks to be his road manager. Dad Tom throws in some star power in a couple scenes and Emily Blunt continues to proves she's the real deal as Howard's replacement publicist.

The Verdict: Not too hard to tell, right? Pound for pound, the most entertaining film I saw in Sundance. Malkovich is extraordinary. Hysterical, absurd, and all too human, in one fell swoop. See, he can play more than deranged creeps.

Every few years, a film comes along containing a performance far better than the movie as a whole; some characters just deserve to have more interesting things happen to them. I'm thinking of Forrest Whitaker in "Ghost Dog," Paul Giamatti in "Lady in the Water," or Giovanni Ribisi in, well, anything.

I have now seen the Superbowl of such movies, and it is called "Sleepwalking."

The Sundance film's title sums up the efforts of its screenwriter quite well. It's your standard mopey family stuff, striving to be "Ordinary People" but feeling like you're watching a white trash re-telling of "Winter Passing," minus the Will Ferrell comic relief.

I call it the Superbowl of good performance/bad movie movies, because all four leads turn in solid (if not career-highlight) work. Star/producer Charlize Theron is once again in dirtied-up mode as a slutty, irresponsible single mother. Nick Stahl, as her unmotivated brother James, gives what might be the best performance of his young career. Dennis Hopper, channeling Dwight Yoakam in "Sling Blade," balances charm and rage to create the sort of character calling out for one of two things: A hard blow to the head, or a hug.

Then there's 14-year-old AnnaSophia Robb, a talented young actress who has spent the past few years picking up Dakota Fanning table-scrap roles in stuff like "The Reaping" and "Bridge to Terabithia." Cast as Theron's daughter (for once, Hollywood found a believable-looking family!), the film very much focuses on her growth into adulthood. This is the kind of movie that most likely won't be seen by many, but those who do will leave the theater thinking it's high time Dakota spends some time in AnnaSophia's shadow.

You definitely get the "star is born" vibe from one fun scene in particular, after Theron's character has skipped town and Stahl takes Robb on a desperate roadtrip. Stuck at a cheap motel, remembering the only strength of her flaky mom, Robb's Tara takes a self-assured stroll around the swimming pool, sexily smoking a cigarette and wearing roller skates. Naturally, the two young boys sitting nearby can't take their eyes off the young teen.

Much like Natalie Portman in "Beautiful Girls," Christina Ricci in "The Opposite of Sex" or Sue Lyon as "Lolita," Robb walks that fine line of exploring her sexual identity. After all the truckers she's watched her Mom bring home in the middle of the night, it rings sadly true.

Without Theron's clout, "Sleepwalking" likely never would have been made. And although much of the world might not have blinked an eye either way, this rambling Sundance flick does excel at letting its stars shine.

Article by Alyssa Vitrano

On the Line: I was at a Women in Film panel over the weekend, and Patricia Clarkson was talking about how the movie had 3 really strong female lead roles (played by her, Felicity Huffman and Elle Fanning). You never know if that means it'll be chick flicky, but later an older guy was telling me he saw it and afterwards called his wife practically in tears saying how the film made him want to be a better father. Wow, ok. Was also curious to see if Elle Fanning was as freakily good as her sister Dakota.

In the Theater: The scenes with Elle and Felicity, who plays a writer whose trying to figure out what kind of disorder her daughter has, are completely heartbreaking. I was sitting next to an older man and we were both crying. But the scenes where the kids put on the Alice in Wonderland play go on way too long and feel like you're at a grade-school production--only kids' parents should have to sit through that.

Verdict: The mother-daughter scenes were incredibly strong, but the film's a bit uneven. Felicity Huffman is brilliant--she always has a different and intelligent interpretation of her characters. And Elle Fanning definitely IS as freakily good as Dakota. (What was in their baby formula?) But in between all of the emotional scenes, you get a lot of kind of poor kid acting from the other children in the movie and the play scenes could've been much shorter. But overall, completely worth it for the riveting mother-daughter storyline.

U2, P-Diddy, Morgan Spurlock and Charlize Theron were just a few of Hollywood's elite who took to the slopes of Sundance this past week to showcase their films – and my colleagues at MTV News spoke with all of them.

But forget the stars. From ground zero here in Los Angeles, the bird's eye view of the Festival was full of dollars, not Cents (as in 50), meaning big paydays for the following filmmakers:

"Hamlet 2": Hamlet tells his friend Horatio that "There are more things in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in [his] philosophy." Yeah, no kidding, apparently there was a whole other story! The comedy flick with Steve Coogan as a teacher who writes a Shakespearean sequel sold to Focus Features for $10 million, easily the tops of the festival. And they said he was indecisive.

"American Teen": This documentary feature on four high school students (a jock, a cheerleader, a nerd, and a hipster sold to Paramount Vantage for $1-$2 million. I rented it from Blockbuster for $2, except my copy at the words "Breakfast Club" on the front.

"Henry Poole is Here": MTV broke the news on Luke Wilson's involvement in this quirky drama last year, and now the story of a man who moves into a new house soon after he learns he's dying sold for $4 million to Overture Films. So where's our cut?

"Choke": The first rule about Sundance deals? Don't talk about Sundance deals. Chuck Palahniuk's latest "Precious Little Snowflake" to be adapted sold for $5 million to Fox Searchlight. Starring Sam Rockwell, the story centers on a sex addict who cons his way into the lives of rich people by fake choking.

Quentin Tarantino and his motley crew call it "Hell Ride," and it sure is one helluva something.

What, exactly, depends on your own personal tolerance for murder, mayhem, mud-wrestling and Michael Madsen in a tree, doing an owl imitation.

The flick, which premiered this week at Sundance, follows two warring biker posses. Set in a surreal world where every woman wants a roll in the hay, and every man knows he can shoot another man in the crotch without any fear of interference from the police, it revolves around three keys labeled "666," the 1976 murder of a biker babe and a whole lot of vengeance.

With Quentin producing and his alumni Madsen, Larry Bishop and Dennis Hopper in key roles, that should give "Ride" enough cred to recoup its $3 million budget. Meanwhile, the group is already talking trilogy here at Park City, so lock up your wives and daughters.

Quite frankly, I've seen pornos with less nudity (oops, did I just write that?). Somewhere around minute 15 and/or boob number 32, I watched a flood of females sneak out of the theater like Rhodes Scholars who'd accidentally bought tickets to a Larry the Cable Guy show. The movie is a male-empowerment fantasy and makes no bones about it.

As discussed previously, Madsen is a hoot as "The Gent," a courteous killer clad in a tuxedo. Director/star Bishop plays his leader role like a white guy accidentally cast in a "Shaft" movie, and mere words cannot describe the sheer pleasure in watching Dennis Hopper (as crafty old-timer Eddie Zero) climb back onto a bike.

My biggest gripe with the flick is a simple one: All the tough talk rarely results in anything more than premature emasculation. Virtually all the "big battles" are too brief to be satisfying, especially the finale with a villainous Vinnie Jones.

"Hell Ride" is due in theaters later this year and, quite frankly, the Sundance cut making it to theaters seems only slightly less likely than GG Allin rising from the dead to open for the Spice Girls. But once it comes out on unrated DVD, I wouldn't mind taking another twirl with this spaghetti Western.

On the Line: Here's the great thing about Sundance: There are screenings at 8:30 in the morning! A movie lover's dream! Here's the horrible thing about Sundance: There are screenings at 8:30 in the morning! A human being's nightmare.

There was little to no buzz on this two-hander starring Sundance stalwarts Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson. I'm a huge fan of both, so I'm optimistic.

In the Theater: Not only does this star Tucci, but he directs. However, this is a far cry from the whimsy of "Big Night" and "The Imposters." Here Tucci and Clarkson play a married couple who engage in a series of "dates" in which they role play all in the hopes of rekindling something, anything. At the outset seemingly a drama with a great dose of comedy, revelations and a shocking ending reveal it to be a sobering tragedy.

The Verdict: I love you, Stanley and Patricia, but it didn't work for me. The episodic form and oh so dark trajectory left me bored and upset rather than impressed and moved. I'll be at the next one.
