Idris Elba is one of the hardest working people in Hollywood right now. The British actor is juggling promoting roles in "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" and "Prometheus" with his filming schedule on Guillermo del Toro's "Pacific Rim," and Elba continues to add new projects like "Thor 2."

While promoting "Ghost Rider," MTV News was able to chat with Elba and ask him about "Pacific Rim," a film that we're very excited about here but don't know too much about. Del Toro previously teased that the movie will involve "top-notch monsters," and Elba confirmed that will be the case. That being said, these baddies will be big, but not similar specifically to Godzilla, as was once rumored.

"It's hard to say. Godzilla would throw out the wrong sort of image, I think. We are talking about some big MF-ers," Elba teased.

That being said, the film is going to have a lot of realism to it. Like previous del Toro films "Hellboy" and "Pan's Labyrinth," "Pacific Rim" is being shot on big sets that allow the Mexican director to keep the CGI somewhat to a minimum. Elba said that distinction will come across in the movie.

"There's a lot of actuality in this one because he's created huge sets. I mean, we've taken over four sets in Pinewood in Toronto and built a lot of the stuff that you might see. Yes, there is huge CGI I'm sure, but we built a lot of stuff too," he said.

After "Pacific Rim" and "Thor 2" wrap, it was rumored that Elba might team up with his "Ghost Rider" directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor to star in the third installment of their "Crank" series. He clarified that there is a chance that film might get made, but it's not set in stone yet.

"It was fun talk," Elba said. "The boys and I really want to work together. We've been sort of aiming to get Jason Statham in mind to do something. Maybe that would work out, maybe it could be 'Crank 3,' who knows."

So what is next for Elba? According to him, he'll next be shooting a movie called "Deed" in Atlanta that is a "good old-fashioned thriller," and will then star in a second season of his hit show "Luther." And, of course, reprise his role as Heimdall in "Thor 2."

The "Fast and the Furious" franchise is one of the modern Hollywood series that seemingly gets more popular as it goes along. The latest installment -- "Fast Five" -- became one of the more beloved chapters of the decade-long series, and also introduced Dwayne Johnson as a new member of the crew.

MTV News caught up with Johnson while he was promoting another movie series he joined late in the game -- "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" -- and asked him about his involvement in the next two "Fast" movies. From what we knew here at MTV headquarters, "Fast 6" and "Fast 7" were going to shoot back-to-back, but Johnson explained that plan has since been scrapped.

"I don't think we're going to shoot them back-to-back," he said.

He explained, "We were going to try that because it wouldn't make sense to have the same crew and have everybody there in one place, but I think we're dealing with some weather issues, so from what I know we're going to shoot 'Fast 6' first and then worry about 'Fast 7' a little later."

It will be interesting to see how that affects the continuity of the latest two films. And apparently the "Fast" gang is going to be headed overseas in the upcoming movies. Johnson teased two locations where "Fast 6" and "Fast 7" were going to be filming, but wouldn't clarify which location was for which film.

"We're going to be in the U.K., we're going to be in Germany, from what I know. That's the early talks," he said. "And we're going to start shooting in May."

Are you looking forward to "Fast 6" and "7"? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

There's plenty of mystery surrounding the impending release of "Prometheus." The trailer did nothing to clear the air about the movie's plot or connection to the "Alien" franchise, and all of the film's stars have been doing their best to keep it that way.

Needless to say, when MTV News recently caught up with star Idris Elba, no one expected him to give much more information than what is already out there. And that's exactly what he did, though I'm pretty sure he's downplaying how significant his role is in the movie.

"There's a ship and I fly it. That's it! It doesn't get any more interesting than that," Elba teased of his character, the captain of the ship at the heart of the film.

Though he wouldn't give away much of the plot of "Prometheus," Elba was willing to address its connection to the "Alien" franchise. It's long been known that "Prometheus" takes place in the same universe as "Alien," but won't act as a direct prequel. Elba confirmed that, adding that "Prometheus" will be an entirely different beast from director Ridley Scott's previous sci-fi film

"Ridley allowed us to live in his idea, his dream of what this film is about. Aliens aside, Ridley again creates a new character, a series of characters that are in a crazy predicament," Elba said. "It captures all the great DNA stuff of 'Aliens,' that's all in this film as well. But it's a different film altogether."

But will "Prometheus" be good? Elba certainly thinks so. The movie doesn't hit theaters until June 8, but Elba has seen some footage already and is a big fan.

"I just saw some of it literally last week. It looks amazing. It looks amazing!" he said.

Guillermo del Toro is attached to direct a new take on "Beauty and the Beast," with Emma Watson set to star. It’s a long-rumored collaboration that I've been looking forward to greatly, as del Toro is one of the most visual directors of our time and will also likely be able to coax a very un-Hermione performance out of Watson.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news, adding that Andrew Davies will write the script. But the idea of Watson as Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" got us wondering what other "Harry Potter" stars would fit well in a movie inspired by a fairytale. Surprisingly, there are quite a few. Hollywood, feel free to pilfer our ideas.

Daniel Radcliffe in "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"
Obviously this adaptation of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" would go as dark as possible. The saying "cry wolf" has become synonymous with giving false alarm for something, so this version of the fairy tale would be pegged as a thriller. It could even be set in the present day! Daniel Radcliffe could easily pull off a great performance, based solely on how convincing he was in "The Woman in Black."

Tom Felton in "Hansel and Gretel"
Yes, I know there's a "Hansel and Gretel" movie already in the works starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, but this version would be more of a straight adaptation. Tom Felton would play Hansel, allowing him to finally nab a leading role, and I'm picturing someone very visual like Tim Burton taking the director's chair and giving the classic tale a Burton twist.

Evanna Lynch in "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"
Evanna Lynch might be best known as loony Luna Lovegood, but it's about time she stretch her acting muscles and try a different character on for size. My suggestion is she star as the titular character in "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," though a better writer than myself would give the story an edgier twist and replace the bears that Goldilocks steals porridge from in the story with real people. Suddenly the stakes get a bit higher, wouldn't you say?

Bonnie Wright in "The Little Mermaid"
This one gets a little obvious. Bonnie Wright is the perfect fit for an adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" if only because of her flowing red hair. This would give her a chance to shine in the limelight for once, and also get a chance to act a little bit spunkier than Ginny Weasley.

Matthew Lewis in "The Riddle"
A lesser-known fairy tale seems like the perfect fit for one of the lesser-known "Harry Potter" stars. Matthew Lewis would star in "The Riddle" as the prince who has to pose an unsolvable riddle to a foreign princess in order to win her hand in marriage. Obviously a writer would add some more meat to this Brothers Grimm fairy tale, but I just like the idea of Lewis finally getting to be a romantic lead.

What fairy tales would you like to see the "Harry Potter" cast members star in? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Michael Bay is directing "Transformers 4," as MTV News exclusively reported on Monday (February 13). The next outing in the robots-in-disguise franchise won't make its way to theaters until the summer of 2014, however, leaving plenty of time for Bay to figure out the particulars of his developing reboot.

That also gives us plenty of time to speculate on the story for "Transformers 4." With that in mind, here are a few story ideas and casting suggestions for Bay and company to consider!

» Kill Sam Witwicky: Want to make it clear that "Transformers 4" is a reboot of the series? Take longtime lead Sam and let the Decepticons get the better of him. It'll be a shocking moment for fans of the films, and for those who didn't care for the first three, it'll signal a serious shift from everything that's come before.

» Stand By Statham: Those rumors about Jason Statham taking over the franchise? Make them come true. "Transformers" has no shortage of robot badasses at its disposal, but it couldn't hurt to add some ass-kickers of the flesh-and-blood variety. Statham would bring a very different energy to "Transformers" than LaBeouf. Heck, we even have some suggestions for Statham-led "Transformers" movies already!

» Go Haywire: On a related note, why not add another up-and-coming badass to the roster in the form of Gina Carano, the MMA icon who made her big screen debut in Steven Soderbergh's "Haywire." She's one of the most compelling action stars to enter the scene in recent times, and seeing her handle a big-budget blockbuster like "Transformers" alongside an equally awesome action hero like Statham would almost be more awesome than any one of us deserves.

» Go For Galvatron: Megatron has died twice now. Don't bring him back a third time — unless, of course, you're bringing him back as Galvatron, the Decepticon leader's new and improved persona he earns in the original "Transformers" cartoons. Original Galvatron actor Leonard Nimoy's voice has already been used for Sentinel Prime, sadly, but perhaps that presents an opportunity: Bay's Galvatron could be a fusion of the late Megatron and Sentinel Prime.

» Enter The Planet-Eater: Of course, there is no Galvatron without Unicron, the planet-sized transformer that regularly eats smaller planets for lunch. One of the most iconic and large-scale villains of "Transformers" lore, Unicron is the most obvious way to up the stakes after "Dark of the Moon." Whether alongside Galvatron or not, bringing Unicron in feels like the next natural step for this series.

Leave your "Transformers 4" plot suggestions in the comments section and on Twitter!

Though he’s gathered accolades for his roles in English projects like "Sherlock" and "Tinker Tailor Solider Spy," he hasn’t had a big Stateside success just yet -- something that will change soon, as he’s set to star in a number of blockbusters within the year. Though his voice will only be used for "The Hobbit," Cumberbatch will have a prominent role as (perhaps) a villain in the untitled "Star Trek" sequel, due for release in 2013.

When we caught up with "Star Trek" star Chris Pine (Captain Kirk, if you forgot) at the premiere of "This Means War," he told us about his excitement for Cumberbatch to get his proper due.

"Benedict’s fantastic. He’s just so good," Pine said. "A bunch of my friends have seen him in 'Frankenstein'-- I didn’t get a chance to see it, they screened it here, I think -- but he’s super talented and we’re just more than grateful to have him on board."

"He’s got this intensity about him, and he’s obviously extremely intelligent and articulate. He’s got these vocal qualities and something else. He’s obviously, unlike many of us, an actual trained actor," he added with a laugh. "He actually has studied for it."

Considering that he and Cumberbatch will face off in the "Star Trek" sequel, Pine didn’t express reservations about getting along on set. "I don’t think so," he said when asked if they would form a love-hate relationship. "I think it’s all going to be love. A mad amount of love."

For now, you can check out Cumberbatch in the excellent "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," or catch up on your "Sherlock" episodes via Netflix. You can also speculate with us about what his role in the "Star Trek" sequel will be, or wait until production starts for the details to slowly leak out.

It's been years since "Maleficent" was first announced, but apparently Angelina Jolie is finally ready to settle down with the project. She has expressed interest in the "Sleeping Beauty" spin-off since its early days back in 2010, but the project never quite came together. Now, however, "Maleficent" is actually pretty close to going in front of the camera.

Back in January, it was announced that "Avatar" and "Alice in Wonderland" production designer Robert Stromberg will direct the project. Apparently that was all the forward momentum the film needed, because The Hollywood Reporter has learned that this will be Jolie's next project after she's done with "In the Land of Blood and Honey."

"I haven't acted in two years, and I haven't done anything else since this. The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie," she said at a news conference at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Apparently she is mostly interested in "Maleficent" because her children keep begging her to do it, in addition to the fact she's long been attached to the project. Jolie said that her children have gone as far as calling her "mom-elicent" to try to get her to do the movie.

"The best thing to find that balance is to do something that is just for children," Jolie said in Berlin. "You know, you find different ways to make things matter. When, for example, you do fun action movies, they are empowering for my daughters."

This is bad news for her planned collaboration with Luc Besson, which was supposed to be her next movie. When MTV News caught up with Jolie at the premiere of her other children's movie, "Kung Fu Panda 2," she admitted that she's been in love with Linda Woolverton's script for "Maleficent" for a very long time. But even more than that, Jolie has been a life-long fan of the titular character.

"I would love to [do it]," she said. "It's all new and being discussed, but I loved [Maleficent] when I was a little girl, she was my favorite."

Better late than never! Even though Peter Jackson and the rest of the cast of "The Hobbit" have been busy filming the upcoming two films in New Zealand, there were still apparently characters left to be cast. But no longer.

Deadline is reporting that Billy Connolly has come on board to play the role of Dain Ironfoot. The dwarf warrior is the second cousin of head dwarf Thorin Oakenshield. The reason that Connolly was able to sign on so late in the game is because the character of Dain only has a small role in "The Hobbit," and likely will only appear in the second "Hobbit" film, "There and Back Again," which comes out in 2013.

Though Dain has a larger role in the "Lord of the Rings" mythology, in "The Hobbit" he only appears after Thorin asks him to help the dwarves on their quest to reclaim Erebor. After he receives Thorin's request, Dain sets out with an army of several hundred dwarves and arrives just in time to help his second cousin in the Battle of Five Armies, an event that occurs at the end of "There and Back Again." To keep this relatively spoiler free, let's just say that Dain steps into a larger role once the battle concludes.

"We could not think of a more fitting actor to play Dain Ironfoot, the staunchest and toughest of Dwarves, than Billy Connolly, the Big Yin himself," Jackson said in a statement to Deadline. "With Billy stepping into this role, the cast of 'The Hobbit' is now complete. We can’t wait to see him on the Battlefield!"

Connolley joins a star-studded cast that includes Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner and James Nesbitt. "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" hits theaters on December 14, while "The Hobbit: There And Back Again" will premiere on December 13, 2013.

Do you think Connolly will make a good Dain Ironfoot? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Even before we get to see action legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone fighting together on the big screen in "Expendables 2," their next collaboration is already set to go.

Deadline is reporting that the duo will star in "The Tomb," a prison-escape thriller directed by Mikael Hafstrom.

In "The Tomb," Stallone will play a man who designs an "inescapable" high-tech prison. After being double-crossed, he'll become a prisoner in his own design. To escape, he will have to find the flaws of his own system. Luckily, Stallone's character will have help from a fellow inmate with a heart of gold, played by Schwarzenegger.

Honestly, this can only come as welcome news to fans of both Stallone and Schwarzenegger. "The Tomb" has all the hallmarks of a classic 80s-style action movie. There's Italian Stallion. There's the Governator. Just throw in a technologically advanced super prison and a reason for revenge, and you have yourself the makings of an action classic.

Perhaps the most welcome aspect of this news is that it provides another opportunity to get an R-rated Stallone and Schwarzenegger movie. Chuck Norris ruined that the first time around with his potty-mouth-free "Expendables 2." These men made their names on gratuity. No, that gruesome circular saw thrown through that guy's head didn't exactly add to the plot of "Commando," but it was fun. Hopefully, "The Tomb" will be an opportunity to bring that kind of awesome back.

Are you glad to hear that Stallone and Schwarzenegger will reteam for "The Tomb"? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a monumental 2012 in front of him. He's set to star in some of the year's biggest films, including "The Dark Knight Rises," Spielberg's "Lincoln," the sci-fi thriller "Looper" and Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained." That isn't even counting his bike messenger starring vehicle, "Premium Rush."

But now, you can add a directorial debut to JGL's planned list of 2012 accomplishments. This year, Gordon-Levitt will helm his first movie, a comedy he wrote himself. He'll also pull star duty as the film's lead, a "modern-day Don Juan" who tries to change his womanizing ways.

Scarlett Johansson will co-star, along a yet-to-be-cast second female lead. Gordon-Levitt said that the role is one that may surprise the fans that know his previous work. "I wrote myself a helluva role, one that people wouldn’t necessarily thought of me for," he said.

The actor opened up to Deadline about his directorial debut, something he's wanted to do for years. "I was a child actor for years and quit at 19, went to school awhile, and a big part of why I came back was that I ultimately wanted to make movies," he said.

Gordon-Levitt gave credit to the list of prestigious directors he's worked with as one of the big reasons he feels ready to do this. "I spent a year working with Chris Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steven Spielberg, and I did my best to pay attention," he said. "I've also been making short films for a long time now, I've directed a ton of them, and that is a huge part of why I feel comfortable and confident in this."

The writer/director/actor duty may come at a cost to Gordon-Levitt, though. The busy work schedule involved with directing and starring in a film could mean no "Django Unchained" for the actor. "It will be tricky schedule-wise, but I was honest with Quentin upfront," he said.
