Expendables

We've had two weeks of Chuck Norris "Expendables" action to chew on in a row, and it looks like the powers that be wish to continue spoiling us with goodies from the upcoming all-star action flick.

A brand new "Expendables 2" trailer is about to arrive — on Thursday (May 3), to be precise — and you can catch an early look at new footage over at IGN… though the words "early footage" don't exactly measure up to what you'll see.

Prometheus

Have we finally reached the point where any "Prometheus" is too much "Prometheus"? I don't believe so, but I know that after the arrival of the latest international trailer and featurette, some of my colleague at MTV Movies HQ have decided it's time to step away from ancillary "Prometheus" material and just wait until the movie lands in June.

These people have a point. There's no doubt that the newest footage of "Prometheus" reveals and unmasks more than some may have bargained for. Creature design, plot details, possible character deaths… you'll get hints at all of these, some more overt than others, in the new "Prometheus" spots. Personally, all of this just fuels my excitement for Ridley Scott's return to science fiction, but your mileage may vary.

Regardless, you know what awaits you after the break — new footage, and potential spoilers. Move forward cautiously.

Leonard NimoyLeonard Nimoy has lived long and prospered as Spock for many years, though his final appearance alongside the good men and women of Starfleet seemingly occurred in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot some years ago.

Not so fast, it turns out. Nimoy spoke with CNN last week during the launch of the space shuttle Enterprise in New York, and revealed that his days in space aren't necessarily over.

"We're talking, we're talking," the "retired" actor told the news outlet when asked if he'd ever appear in another "Star Trek" movie.

Awesome secrets. Light and fluffy. Cotton candy. These are words you're going to be hearing a whole lot more should you tune into "The Fourth Dimension," the Tribeca Film Festival flick from VICE mastermind Eddy Moretti collecting short movies from directors Harmony Korine, Aleksei Fedorchenko, and Jan Kwiecinski.

The film is split into three segments, but if it's star power you're after, there's no where better to turn than "The Lotus Community Workshop," Korine's short starring Val Kilmer as — wait for it — Val Kilmer.

"The premise is so great," Kilmer told MTV News about his work in "Fourth Dimension," which mostly involves a fictional version of himself giving a rousing and thoroughly absurd speech to a down-and-out community. "I'm a motivational speaker, but I'm a complete idiot. I still laugh every time I say it!"

Fear not, "Top Gun" fans: Iceman's coming back, assuming he's still wanted.

Tom Cruise, Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer are all reportedly on board for "Top Gun 2," according to an update from the leading man himself back in December 2011. But what about Val Kilmer, the man who butted heads with Maverick over land, sea and air as Tom "Iceman" Kazanski?

During a conversation about his newest movie "The Fourth Dimension" (we'll have much more on that for you tomorrow), Kilmer told MTV News that while he's "not yet" heard word from anyone asking him to sign on for "Top Gun 2," he's more than willing to get back into the cockpit.

"Sure, it would be fun," he told MTV. "I'd have to get a haircut, but anything for the role!"

GI Joe

"It's G.I. Joe against Cobra the enemy, fighting to save the day! He never gives up, he's always there! Fighting for freedom over land and air!"

Sorry, if you really think you're going to be able to stop me from singing the "G.I. Joe" theme song all day long after the arrival of a brand new trailer late last night, you're horribly mistaken. That's right: there's an all-new "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" trailer today, clocking in at over two and a half minutes. Premiered by director Jon Chu at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the new "G.I. Joe" trailer is once again proving that despite what you thought of "Rise of Cobra," this Dwayne Johnson-starring sequel is not something to be ignored.

Check it out in full after the jump!

Reason number one why "Machete Kills" is going to be awesome: it's called "Machete Kills." It also has Danny Trejo once again in the lead role, for another. And now yet another reason to pay attention to Robert Rodriguez's grindhouse sequel: Mel Gibson is joining the cast.

Deadline reports that the controversial "Lethal Weapon" actor is "now in serious discussions to play a supporting role" in Rodriguez's second feature-length "Machete" film, after flirting with a part earlier this month. Exactly who he'll play is unclear, but if he's not directly involved in combat against the blade-wielding Federale, we're going to be angrier than Mel, assuming that's possible.

In other "Machete Kills" news, Rodriguez recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and revealed that he's likely going to direct the entire movie himself before moving onto "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For."

If you watched last night's episode of "Game of Thrones," there are really only two words we need to say: shadow baby. And if you didn't see last night's episode, well, it's as weird as it sounds. "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" didn't do it for you, you say? Well, that's what "Retaliation" is here for! By all accounts, director Jon Chu's sequel to the first live-action adaptation of the real American heroes is set to blow its predecessor out of the way on all fronts: action, story, casting, you name it.

Speaking of that last one, you can get a sense of just how perfect the casting on "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" is with a brand new set of posters that have appeared all over the web. Empire has a great collection of the posters, which you can see right here. For my money, the Cobra Commander image (seen above) is the best — mostly because after all this time we still don't know who's under the mask! If it's still Joseph Gordon-Levitt behind the terrorist organization, it's the best kept secret in town. Leave your guesses in the comments below.
