Tom Hardy

Now here's a video game adaptation that we can totally get behind. According to a new report, Tom Hardy has signed on to star in a big screen take on "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell."

Video game publisher and developer Ubisoft is already riding high thanks to the news that Michael Fassbender is slated to star in and co-produce an adaptation of "Assassin's Creed," and this news is arguably even more exciting. Variety broke the Hardy news, though little else is known about the project.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is likely reuniting with a familiar face for the latest "Mission: Impossible" movie: Christopher McQuarrie.

According to new reports, McQuarrie is likely to take on the upcoming "Mission: Impossible 5," but Paramount Pictures is waiting to hire writers for the film before making it official. Deadline has the news, and also comments that this project is in its "early stages."

It sounds like things went the way Paramount and Cruise wanted with the upcoming "Jack Reacher." McQuarrie also wrote and directed that action film, which is due out on December 21.

Chris Hemsworth

Chris Hemsworth was "Thor," the "Huntsman" and an ill-fated visitor to a "Cabin in the Woods" this year, but he's not done yet. The actor is busy lining up even more projects to tackle next, and he's honing in on two in particular.

The Film Stage is reporting that Hemsworth is considering Stephen Gaghan's "Candy Shop" and a Jeremy Weintraub-produced Steve McQueen biopic (not to be confused with the one Jeremy Renner is working on). Interestingly enough, the biopic, currently titled "Triumph AKA 40 Summers Ago," also has his little brother Liam Hemsworth attached.

House of Cards

Welcome to Washington, indeed.

The first trailer for Netflix original series "House of Cards" has premiered on the site, and it looks better than we could have expected. It's only available to Netflix subscribers for the time being, so if you can't watch the trailer, suffice it to say that the David Fincher and Kevin Spacey collaboration is worth the massive deal Netflix made when it greenlight two seasons of this series back in March 2011.

Django Unchained

What would a Quentin Tarantino movie be without "life, liberty and the pursuit of vengeance"? It likely wouldn't be anywhere near as good as "Django Unchained" is shaping up to be.

A new poster for the flick touts that fantastic headline and also features leading men Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio -- all in black and white -- surrounded by a red blood spatter. That bodes well for the trajectory of this movie, right?

OZ

"Oz the Great and Powerful" is going to put an interesting twist on the Oz we all know and love when it hits theaters next March. After Disney released three posters separately, we're now finally seeing them together to get a sense of the wonderful world over the rainbow.

There's Chinatown, flying monkeys and the wizard's hot air balloon on the right, a very wicked-looking witch on the left, and the characters played by James Franco, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz caught in between them. Oz certainly looks great and terrible in this image (courtesy of Yahoo), but somehow we have a feeling that the land is more than meets the eye.

Hobbit

Today's a good day for fans of "The Hobbit." Not only are there a deluge of behind-the-scenes photos that have been dumped onto the web, but we've also got our first listen at a great song of the "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" soundtrack.

First, the images. Comic Book Movie has compiled more than 150 behind-the-scenes photos for "The Hobbit," many of which were taken from "The Hobbit Movies" iPhone app. Director Peter Jackson has clearly taken the more is better approach here, and we aren't complaining at all.

1952

Now that we know Brad Bird's planned "1952" isn't just a codename for "Star Wars: Episode VII," it's time to resume wondering just what the movie is about. We learned back in October that the mysterious science fiction product is something along the lines of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and could be about an alien invasion, but not much more than that.

Well, we still don't know much more than that, but we know that one big name could be involved. Variety is reporting that George Clooney is negotiating to star in "1952," though it's unclear who exactly he'll play. The trade reports that the film is about "a man who makes contact with aliens on Earth."

Hotel

It won't be long before we can check in to "Hotel Transylvania" again.

After the animated monster movie did well in theaters following its September 28 release, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Sony has decided to greenlight a sequel for the flick. "Hotel Transylvania 2" is going to hit theaters on September 25, 2015, almost two years to the day after "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2," the studio's other forthcoming animated sequel, is due out.

Hitchcock

Regardless of how you feel about the new movie "Hitchcock," you have to admit that Anthony Hopkins does a very impressive Alfred Hitchcock impersonation.

His performance is at the center of the great new international trailer for the movie that hit the web today. This spot puts the focus on the making of "Psycho" instead of on Hitchcock's relationship with his wife like the last trailer did. Both storylines are interesting, but at least in this take we get a better look at the shower scene, replete with Scarlett Johansson's impressive version of Janet Leigh's death scene. That alone had us on board with this film.
