FROM SPLASH PAGE: Way back in May, we gave actor Sam Rockwell one of his first looks at Justin Hammer, his "Iron Man 2" character, when we gave him an issue of the comic book during an interview that occurred a few months after he was cast in the blockbuster sequel. When MTV Movies Editor Josh Horowitz recently sat down with Rockwell, he was able to offer us a bit more info about his character—specifically, his relationship with Don Cheadle's character, James "Rhodey" Rhodes.

He also revealed what sort of research he did after that earlier meeting and where he drew his inspiration for Tony Stark's rival.

"I got some research—they sent me over some stuff," Rockwell told MTV News. "I looked it over and that was about it."

FROM SPLASH PAGE: We all know last year's award-winning online musical "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" is getting a sequel at some point, but just in case you can't wait for the next chapter of Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris' hilarious (and occasionally heartbreaking) battle, a prequel of sorts arrives this month courtesy of Dark Horse Comics.

Written by Zack Whedon (who co-wrote the "Dr. Horrible" musical with brothers Joss and Jed and Jed's wife, Maurissa Tancharoen), the one-shot "Dr. Horrible" comic tells the tale of Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer's first encounter.

I spoke to Whedon about his plans for the project and received an exclusive preview for Splash Page readers.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" and "Back to the Future" director Robert Zemeckis is certainly no stranger to the art of bringing fantasy fare to life on the big screen, so when we had the chance to chat with him during a press event for "A Christmas Carol," we had to ask: why hasn't he tackled a superhero movie yet?

"I'm a superhero fan, although I actually have never been offered one," Zemeckis told MTV News. "I've never really brought one to someone and said I really want to do this superhero [movie]. Obviously, I love the form, as movies really are the extension of comic books."

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Yesterday, we brought you an update from Don Cheadle about his experiences in the War Machine armor during "Iron Man 2," but today we a few more, exclusive details to share about the much-anticipated debut of the armor Tony Stark isn't wearing in the film (as far as we know).

When "Iron Man 2" actor Sam Rockwell dropped by Splash Page HQ recently, we asked him about the relationship between his character (rival industrialist Justin Hammer) and Don Cheadle's character (Stark's military buddy James "Rhodey" Rhodes). After all, they seemed pretty chummy in the "Iron Man 2" trailer that premiered during Comic-Con in San Diego this year.

Sure, this weekend's premiere of "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" features the return of Connor and Murphy McManus, Il Duce and the rest of Boston's favorite movie vigilantes, but when I asked around for some questions to ask the film's director and stars when they dropped by Movies Blog HQ, there was one element from the first film everyone was asking about for the sequel: the rope.

Fans of the original film will no doubt recall the brothers' oft-quoted, obscenity-laden debate regarding the merits of bringing rope to their showdown with a mob boss—and according to director Troy Duffy and stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and Billy Connolly, the rope is indeed back by popular demand. It's been 10—count 'em, 10!—years since brothers Connor and Murphy McManus kicked off their quest to rid Boston of evildoers in director Troy Duffy's "The Boondock Saints," and now the city's vigilante duo are strapping on their guns (and rope) for the sequel to the cult-classic film.

"Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day" hits theaters October 30, reuniting actors Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as the McManus brothers, along with Billy Connolly, who reprises his role as their long-lost father (the mysterious and lethal "Il Duce"). Even with a decade between them and their debut as the McManus siblings, Flanery and Reedus told MTV News it was easy to slip back into character—as easy as putting on a pea coat and slinging some rope over their shoulders, in fact.

"You put on the pea coats and all that and it's sort of deja vu," said Reedus. "doing this film, the second one, is like coming back home in a way." Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Last month, we told you about the upcoming comic book based on the life and career of "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling. Now we have the first, exclusive peek at the issue.

Published by Bluewater Productions, the unauthorized biography is part of their "Female Force" line of comics, and promises to chronicle the "rags to riches story of a woman receiving government financial assistance through her ascendancy in becoming one of the world’s most recognizable writers."

Bluewater has provided Splash Page readers with an exclusive preview of "Female Force: J.K. rowling," which hits shelves in December in a standard, 23-page comic and a "double-sized collector’s edition." The comic is written by Adam Gragg with interior art by Matthew Filer (“Masque of the Dragons”) and cover art by Joshua Labello.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: As longtime readers know, we've been closely following the ups and downs of a potential adaptation of Brian Bendis' graphic novel "Torso" for quite a while now. The crime drama follows a post-Untouchables Eliot Ness as he investigates the one of the nation's first serial killers, and at one point in the project's move to the big screen, David Fincher was attached to direct with Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and Rachel McAdams tagged for lead roles.

While the project initially attracted significant buzz, Paramount let its rights to the adaptation expire back in January, leaving many people—including Bendis himself—uncertain if it had a future in Hollywood. However, just like any good comic book character, the project isn't staying dead for very long, and Bendis revealed during a recent visit to Splash Page HQ that the "Torso" movie has found momentum once again.

"A week ago I had final, but this weekend, not so much with the final," said Bendis when I asked if he had a "final word" on the project's status.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: We might know who the villains are in "Spider-Man 4" or whether Sam Raimi will be back for "Spider-Man 5" and "Spider-Man 6," but when it comes to the connection between the "Spider-Man" franchise and a potential "Venom" movie, well...

Okay, Raimi couldn't give us much on that question, either.

But we did ask the celebrated director about how the two universes will connect, if at all, when Spider-Man's black-clad nemesis swings off into his own solo movie.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Comic books based on Stephen King's novels have almost become a genre of their own lately, with adaptations and spin-offs of both "The Stand" and his "Dark Tower" series finding new life in the world of graphic novels.

This November, King's 1984 novel "The Talisman" (co-written with Peter Straub) goes the same route with a new graphic novel adaptation published by Del Rey Comics.

The story follows a teenager tasked with retrieving a magical talisman in order to save his dying mother. He must cross back and forth between our world and its alternate—and more dangerous—"twinner" counterpart.
