'The Chronicles of Narnia'The news that Disney had pulled the plug on 'The Chronicles of Narnia" franchise left many of you pretty disappointed, particularly since we weren't even going to get to see the third book "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."

But here's some good news for the franchise -- according to Variety, Walden Media has found a new studio to call home, and Fox will be sharing duties on "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." The studio is hoping that the high fantasy of the third installment revives interest in the franchise -- if the film is a smash hit, they will likely continue the franchise, and give Narnia fans the seven films they crave. 'The Thing' (1982)It's been tapped twice before, most famously by John Carpenter, and now "The Thing" is getting a third treatment as Universal's long-gestating re-imagining of the classic tale finally moves forward. "Battlestar Galactica" executive producer Ronald Moore is still penning the script, and according to Variety the project now has its director: Matthijs Van Heijningen, confirming earlier reports.

Of course, John Carpenter's "Thing" was itself a remake of Howard Hawks' 1951 film "The Thing From Another World." The remake aims to stick close to the short story that spawned both movies, John W. Campbell Jr.'s chilling "Who Goes There."

The story goes a little something like this -- a group of Norwegian researchers in Antarctica discover an alien spaceship buried in the ice. They thaw it out (always a bad idea) and awaken its alien pilot, who can assume the form of any living thing, perfectly mimicking its personality and even absorbing its memories. Read More...

'Tomb Raider' (Videogame)Lara Croft is set to follow in Indiana Jones' footsteps, and make a return to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. (who gained the rights to the character this December) and producer Dan Lin are working to reboot "Tomb Raider," and give the pistol packing heroine a new franchise.

The new project will ignore the previous two Paramount films and start fresh, as the latest games have and revamp her origin, give her new adventures, villains, and love interests.

Of course, this means there will be a new actress as well. Warner Bros isn't planning on bringing Angelina Jolie back -- and it is unlikely the Oscar nominated actress would return if they did make an offer. The studio plans to attach a writer and director first, and then find a new Croft. Read More...

According to Variety, the latest is 1980's series "The A-Team," which is getting a big screen remake from Fox Studios with an eye to turning it into an action film franchise. Joe Carnahan ("Smoking Aces") is attached to direct, with Ridley and Tony Scott producing.

In the original show, four Vietnam vets are convicted of armed robbery and escape from military prison to become mercenaries with hearts of gold. Carnahan and the Scott brothers plan to use the original premise, but swap Vietnam for the Middle East. Read More...

Brendan FraserBrendan Fraser's career has gone in a decidedly different route than we all expected it to. Once a man who struck a balance between Oscar nominated films like "Gods and Monsters" and popcorn fare like "The Mummy," Fraser now seems to enjoy just the popcorn half of the equation. Variety reports that Fraser is set to star in "Furry Vengeance" for Summit Entertainment, a family comedy directed by Roger Kumble ("College Road Trip").

Fraser will play a real estate developer whose new suburban development spills into some pristine Oregon wilderness, pitting him against a band of angry critters. Hilary DuffAccording to Variety, Hilary Duff has just signed on to one heck of a girl fantasy -- playing famous 1930s outlaw Bonnie Parker in "The Story of Bonnie and Clyde" to Kevin Zegers' Clyde Barrow. Natalie Canerday and Rance Howard have also signed on.

Tonya S. Holly will direct the film from her own script, and it's being stressed that this film is not a remake of the 1967 classic, which starred Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. It's a new take on the historical facts, which are still controversial enough to earn a fresh look. Read More...

'Tom and Jerry'Here's one of those stories that will make you wonder if Hollywood really has run out of ideas. According to Variety, Warner Bros is bringing the Hanna-Barbera cartoon "Tom and Jerry" to the big screen as a live-action/CG hybrid, with an eye to turning it into a franchise.

Previously, they announced plans to do the same with "Yogi Bear," and Robert Rodriguez has been attached to a remake of "The Jetsons" since 2007.

Eric Gravning is penning the script, which will be an origin story for the feuding cat-and-mouse. If you ever wondered how they met and why they hate each other (other than, you know, being natural enemies) this movie will answer all your questions. Read More...
