South By Southwest Festival Lines Up Horror Schedule

Horror fans far and wide will be heading to Austin, Texas this year for the city's South by Southwest Festival (SXSW). The genre fiend's much-loved haunt has announced its Midnighters and Shorts slate, and there are some gems premiering that you won't want to miss. "[REC] 3: Genesis" — which will reveal information uncovered in the first two movies — makes its world premiere. "Martyrs" director Pascal Laugier also premieres his new film "The Tall Man," starring Jessica Biel as a mother searching for her missing child who has been abducted by the mysterious, creepazoid legend.

Reese Witherspoon, Colin Firth Tie West Memphis Three Into A 'Devil's Knot'

Colin Firth is joining Reese Witherspoon in Atom Egoyan's drama based on the real-life case of the West Memphis Three, "Devil's Knot."

Deadline has the news, and reports that the story centers on Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, Jr. who were convicted of the murder of three 8-year-old boys. The case was sensationalized with reports of devil worship and ritualized sacrifice, despite lack of physical evidence. Witherspoon will play a mother of one of the murdered boys, while Firth will take on the role of the heroic investigator who helped the Memphis Three when no one else would, uncovering important evidence for their defense.

'Woman In Black' Poster And TV Spot Haunt The Web

Our intrepid reporters have been busy at the Sundance Film Festival, trekking through the snow to bring you the latest news in all things movies. (Suckers!) Meanwhile, the rest of us have been staying cozy at home, and getting ready for the awesome horror slate that 2012 seems to be promising.

Daniel Radcliffe's "The Woman in Black" has a new poster and TV spot to check out. Also, there are some new stills from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's "The Cabin in the Woods" that have us anxious to see more from the friends-go-into-the-forest-and-possibly-never-come-back tale. Lily Collins Could Battle 'Evil Dead,' 'Carrie' Remake Snags 'Boys Don't Cry' Director

Lily Collins has gone from playing Snow White in the upcoming "Mirror, Mirror," to possibly kicking some undead ass in "The Evil Dead" remake.

THR reports that Collins is in "early talks" for the updating of the legendary horror-comedy that starred Bruce Campbell in the role of Ash. Bloody-Disgusting has some additional details, stating that Collins would play Mia, the lead character and a female version of Ash, who heads to a cabin in the woods with friends. They discover a Book of the Dead, demons are unleashed, and Mia's left fighting for her life. While that sounds familiar, there's also a bizarre druggie subplot, as Mia is staying at the cabin to try to overcome an addiction and heal from a recent overdose.

We'll find out more when Fede Alvarez's version hits the screen on April 12, 2013. For now, let us know what you think about the possibility of Collins being cast as a lady Ash, and dig into the rest of this week's horror news past the break!

Bill Murray Reportedly Hates 'Ghostbusters 3' Script

Another day, another "Ghostbusters 3" rumor — and this one comes from gossip mag The National Enquirer of all places!

The scandalmongers are reporting that after star Bill Murray was sent the latest screenplay of the project, he mailed fellow ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis a nasty present: a box with the script totally shredded inside like confetti. The note attached read, "No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!" The Enquirer reports that Dan and Harold were so upset by his response, that they plan on making the movie without him. Dread Central has more on the report.

'American Horror Story' Scares Up Golden Globe Nominations

It's always great to see genre titles make it to the awards shows, which is why we're excited that Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's "American Horror Story" has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the Drama Series category. The Harmon family and their supernatural roommates are up against several other newcomers including the much-loved "Game of Thrones." Congrats also go out to the sharp-tongued Jessica Lange's Constance Langdon, who is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category.

'Saw' Sequels On The Way, 'Evil Dead' Plot Revealed

If you thought "Saw 3D" was going to be the last installment of the gory franchise, then you might want to sit down for this news. The rest of us can stand, because we saw this coming a mile away — every diehard horror fan knows that a movie claiming to be the "final" installment isn't really finished for good!

Lionsgate has just revealed that a new "Saw" flick is on the way. During an interview with CNBC, Vice Chairman Michael Burns got a little chatty about the company's big moneymaker. "I'm sure, some day, you'll see 'Saw' back in the picture," Burns said.

It makes sense, at least financially; Lionsgate has a potential franchise in "Hunger Games," but could certainly use backup from the reliable "Saw" series. From a fan standpoint, anyone who watched James Wan's "Insidious" could have guessed this was coming. Some of you may have spotted the chalk-drawn Billy the Puppet with an "8" underneath him on the blackboard in one scene.

Elijah Wood's A 'Maniac,' Robert Rodriguez Talks More 'Predators'

We recently brought you news about "Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood headlining a remake of William Lustig's sleazy horror classic, "Maniac." It did seem strange that the sweet and gentle Frodo would be playing a perverse psychopath hunting women in his spare time, but we were — dare we say — kind of excited to see how he'd pull it off.

Alexandre Aja ("Piranha," "Haute Tension") is producing the remake that finds Wood as a creepy killer working at an antique mannequin shop (of course). He hunts for his victims through the Internet, and like the original character Frank, has massive mommy issues. The Daily Mail grabbed some stabby snaps of the actor in action (his victim is played by Genevieve Alexandra), so click on over to see Wood get his "Maniac" on.

Tim Burton's 'Peculiar Children,' 'Munsters' Live Again

"Dark Shadows" director Tim Burton will be adapting a haunted gothic novel about a dark family tragedy (shocking, we know), "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children."

The story comes from author Ransom Riggs' book of the same name that feels similar to Edward Gorey by way of a vintage photo nightmare depicting … peculiar children (a few of the misfits include a girl who had the ability to hold fire in her hands, another who always levitated off the ground, and there were twins who could talk without actually speaking … ). Teenage Jacob visits the home in question, located on a remote island off the coast of Wales. Once there he realizes that the abandoned abode holds a darker and more dangerous secret than previously imagined. Get more on the news over here. Daniel Radcliffe Stalks New 'Woman In Black' Photo

Daniel Radcliffe's Arthur Kipps, from the upcoming supernatural chiller "The Woman in Black," made a recent appearance in a new still for his paranormal movie. This one finds the young lawyer storming the gates of the decrepit mansion he has been summoned to. Radcliffe investigates the dark secrets of a remote English village on February 3, 2012.
