Former "Family Ties" mom Meredith Baxter attracted quite a few tweets when she came out on the "Today Show" this morning. Seth Meyers and Steve Agee, among others, took notice while a few others were still occupied with Tiger Woods.
Kevin Smith has been fielding posts about the title of his movie "A Couple of Dicks," which is getting a new, yet-to-be-determined title. I've included one of his tweets on the subject after the jump along with a former president introducing Jason Reitman's new film, Arnold Schwarzenegger's run-in with George Lucas and Paris Hilton's birthday message to Britney Spears. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for December 2, 2009. Read more...
After weeks of rather lackluster releases ("Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" being a prominent exception), we finally have a Tuesday jam-packed with first-run titles and notable catalog additions. From the on-screen debut of an elite military team to John Cusack's ode to love, we're covering them all in this DVD Report for Tuesday, November 3.
For any child of the '80s, the thought of "G.I. Joe" receiving the theatrical treatment was an intriguing proposition, and one fraught with worry. And for die-hard fans of writer Larry Hama's epic "G.I. Joe" comic book run, it was especially scary. In stark contrast to the campy animated series, Hama infused his 155-issue run with deeply developed character arcs, ever-twisting conspiracies and, to his credit, pulled no punches when it came to violence and death. Which "G.I. Joe" would the film rely on for its story and tone? While producers insisted they'd follow the comics -- and even brought Hama on as a creative consultant -- fans remained skeptical. "Twilight" covers pretty much turned into the Sports Illustrated cover of hand-modeling gigs, but Kimbra Hickey snagged it, and actor Justin Chon earned my photo pic for the day with his candid TwitPic of her from the weekend. Chon, Peter Facinelli, and Christian Serratos all posted over the weekend, and Serratos contributed her own TwitPic, which you'll find below.
Moving on down the feed, Miley Cyrus appears to have had a good time and a Britney Spears concert, and the two performers exchanged Twitter gushes when it was all over. Ice-T, meanwhile, was not gushing in his criticism toward public reaction Saturday when Jenny Slate dropped the F-bomb on "Saturday Night Live." I'm @brianwarmoth, and you can check out all of those posts, along with more Rose McGowan fan artwork(!), Dane Cook with Andre Agassi and what Amanda Bynes wants in a boyfriend. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for September 28, 2009. Read more...

It might not seem obvious, but this Sunday's 2009 Video Music Awards on MTV (coverage begins at 8pm!) is going to have a heavy Hollywood presence. Yes, yes... we all know that "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will be presenting an expanded trailer for "New Moon." They're not who I'm talking about though.
See, a lot of music video directors these days have -- or soon will -- double-dip in the world of feature-length film. I'm going to be highlighting a few of them here on MTV Movies Blog in a series of Director Spotlight posts. First up is "I Am Legend" director Francis Lawrence, who's up for a Best Direction award for his work on Britney Spears' "Circus" video. Compare the video below with the "I Am Legend" trailer, embedded after the break.

I'm not really sure that The Beatles were ever "bigger than Jesus," but they were still kind of a big deal. They made music that will be remembered through the ages and they were the focal point of what we nowadays think of offhandedly as a "pop culture phenomenon," one of the earliest really. Before "Twilight," before Britney Spears, before Michael Jackson... there was Beatlemania.
That said, the Fab Four weren't just musicians. That's what they were known for, sure, but the sort of fame they achieved has a tendency to open doors to other opportunities. Through the years, the four Beatles have all worked in Hollywood to varying degrees. And so, in honor of today's highly anticipated release of "The Beatles: Rock Band" -- not to mention the re-release of their entire catalog, newly remastered -- I give you these four fab screen performances from the Fab Four. Fred Durst, the Limp Bizkit frontman and occasional pop culture punching bag, staged something of a career reinvention a few years ago, leaving music behind to chase his dream of making movies. His first effort, the coming-of-age tale “The Education of Charlie Banks,” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007. Now, two years later, it’s finally getting a theatrical release—at the same as Durst’s life has come full circle, with Bizkit getting set to reunite for a new album and a European tour.
“Sometimes you feel like it’s cursed when something takes so long to come out and you don’t know if it’s going to really come out,” the 38-year-old Durst recently told MTV News about his movie. “So the anticipation and anxiety that comes with it has really paid off because I’m so glad that ‘Charlie Banks’ has waited until now to come out. I just feel like the timing is everything with this.” Read more...
I've pretty much been chasing another interview with David Fincher since the moment my last conversation with him ended nearly a year ago. Sure, his suffer no fools rep strikes fear in anyone in my line of work but the truth is I found Fincher to be a charming and thoughtful subject on the first go round. Now with "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" set for release I got Fincher to sit down for another 30 minutes (not quite enough time to get into "Alien 3" alas....).
You can check out the bulk to the Fincher interview here (including a whole batch of exclusive photos) where he reveals more about his plans for a "Fight Club" musical than ever before. The director likens the stage version to "a rock show — a lot of projection, a lot of computer-generated imagery, a lot of conveyor belts...really cinematic but really twisted." A twisted David Fincher work?!? You don't say...
Be sure to check out our reports on what Fincher told me about his Keanu Reeves "Chef" project, the long gestating "Heavy Metal" flick, and his plans for his adaptation of "Torso," aka what you never knew about Elliot Ness.
We love you! We really, really love you!
In case you haven’t heard, MTV News has just announced that our 2008 Woman of the Year is...the “Twilight” fans! That’s right, if you’re among the millions of females who drove Edward and Bella to pop-culture dominance in 2008, then please pat yourself on the back; if you’re a male “Twilight” fan, like myself, well let’s just be man enough to admit that it’s the gals who are steering this ship – and doing a fine job with it.
Undoubtedly, many of you have dreamed about someday attending a Hollywood red carpet and receiving a prestigious award. And you all know what comes next: The speech! Read more...
He’s fought Rocky, starred alongside Jean Claude Van Damme, and battled foes as the Master of the Universe. Now action icon Dolph Lundgren is about to go toe to toe with his greatest co-star ever: Britney Spears. Well, sort of.

It might surprise you to know that the man formerly known as Ivan Drago has moved from starring in movies, to writing and directing them as well. His third such romp as triple threat is called “Command Performance,” which centers on an ex-biker turned hard case tough guy drummer, who has to rescue the Russian President after terrorists take over an arena where he’s watching a concert. (I swear to God that’s the plot, by the way). Read more...
