"Mad Max: Fury Road" has been filming for more than a month, and now we're finally getting some official details about what the upcoming reboot will be about.
A press release (via ComingSoon.net) confirms the movie's July 9 start date and offers the closest we've come to a synopsis so far. In addition, we get a rundown of who each actor in the movie is playing, though not much about each character. Read more after the jump!
Series creator George Miller will direct the fourth film in the "Mad Max" series. In the principal photography announcement press release, Miller explained how "Mad Max: Fury Road" will follow the titular character's story.
"Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa," Miller said. "This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived."
Tom Hardy stars as Mad Max while Charlize Theron is Imperator Furiosa. In addition, we've learned Nicholas Hoult plays Nux and Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley play the trio of women known as The Wives.
When MTV News caught up with Kravitz last year, she teased how The Wives fit into the film.
"There's a group of five women being taken from one place to another place, and I'm one of those women," she said. "So they call us the five wives. There are five women who are five wives. No, I'm not playing all five wives."
