There's still a year to go until "Ender's Game" hits theaters, but considering the fact the film has been 27 years in the making, we don't think it's too early to start getting excited for its release. Fortunately Summit Entertainment and director Gavin Hood feel the same way, as they have launched a production blog to start hyping the film.
Appropriately titled The Ender's Game Blog, producer Roberto Orci posted the first entry yesterday. In it, he discussed his love for author Orson Scott Card's source material and why star Asa Butterfield is the perfect person to play Ender Wiggins.
"It took us all a second to realize Asa was right when he said 'Ender’s Game' was an amazing book from 'the late 1900s.' We use that phrase all the time now, like, 'Clinton was President in the late nineteen hundreds!'" Orci wrote. " And now, watching Asa bring a character to life who has been on our minds since our youth, we realize things happen for a reason. We were waiting for him."
In addition to gushing about the "Hugo" actor, Orci explained how he and many of the people working on "Ender's Game" have been fans of the book since it was first released.
"Most of us read 'Ender’s Game' when we were young and wondered when it would become a movie," he said. "We never dreamed then that we would all be part of the team to bring it to the screen, nor did we realize the novel’s description of our world would be so prescient that its vision would still be unfolding before our very eyes today."
"Ender's Game" hits theaters on March 15, 2013. It also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis and Abigail Breslin.
