When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. That black-and-white sentiment doesn't leave too much room for romancing, though that does stop our favorite characters from Westeros and beyond from giving love their best shot.
Unfortunately, it never quite works out well for anyone involved (sorry Drogo). A new trailer for the April 1 premiere of HBO's "Game of Thrones" showcases all the romancing that will go on this season, and forebodes that no one will end up very happy in the end. In fact, I'm never one to agree with Cersei, but I think she says it best when she says, "The more people you love, the weaker you are."
Having already read the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels, I already know how most of these love stories pan out and maybe that's why watching this trailer is a bit bittersweet. But hearing Jorah confess his mushy feelings to Daenerys and watching Jon Snow face off against Gilly certainly makes me excited for all the relationships that will develop in the upcoming season. And I can't deny that the shot of Melisandre getting it on with Stannis Baratheon is pretty hot (pun intended).
This trailer offers us one of our first looks at Margaery Tyrell and her relationship with Renly Baratheon. Here we see her coaching him, saying, "You are a king," and encouraging him to continue his quest for the Iron Throne. And she's not the only strong female in our midst. It still gives me chills watching this trailer when Dany yells, "I am not your little girl! I will take what is mine, with fire and blood."
