This may be the year of superheroes, remakes and dueling projects, but it's also the year of films being rereleased in 3D. From "Beauty and the Beast" to "Titanic," it seems like some of the most beloved movies from the '90s are getting their chance to shine in three dimensions. And while "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace" might not necessarily be beloved, we're still intrigued by its 3D rerelease.
Kino Gallery (via Coming Soon) has acquired five new posters promoting the upcoming film. Each poster highlights the best parts of the movie, with Darth Maul largely front and center in three of them, the classic podracing image getting its own well-crafted poster, and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn overshadowing Anakin Skywalker and Queen Amidala in the final one.
We really love the poster that's just a close-up of Maul's face with the quote, "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi," overlaid over it. It's enough to get us hyped up all over again for a movie that was released 13 years ago.
"The Phantom Menace" was originally released in theaters on May 18, 1999. The rerelease is scheduled for February 10. There will be some changes to the original, like the inclusion of a CGI Yoda instead of his puppet version.
