The three first worked together on 2006's "V for Vendetta," Portman's first big post-"Star Wars" film. Then when the Wachowskis started casting for their latest, "Cloud Atlas," Portman's was one of the first names that popped up in association with the project. She ultimately passed, but now reports are saying that Lana and Andy Wachowski are courting Portman again to star in their upcoming sci-fi, "Jupiter Ascending."
A source close to the project told The Los Angeles Times blog 24 Frames that Portman is "seriously weighing taking the part." This would be her first role since "Thor," and her first new film since she won her Oscar last year for "Black Swan."
Little is known about "Jupiter Ascending" other than it is a science fiction flick. The Wachowskis are said to be planning to start production on it in the fall after they finish cutting "Cloud Atlas." With the offer first out to Portman, it could be that "Jupiter Ascending" is following in the footsteps of "Gravity" and "Prometheus" as being a female-centric sci-fi film.
Portman is attached to "Thor 2" as well, and is also considering working on a documentary based on Jonathan Safran Foer's veganism book, "Eating Animals."
