It's been a breakout year in the U.S. for Benedict Cumberbatch. Having made a name for himself in the UK with "Sherlock," a modern retelling of Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective, Cumberbatch appears in two of this year's biggest holiday releases, "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and "War Horse." While both films have garnered Oscar talk, the project he will begin working on in January may be his biggest yet.
That's when Cumberbatch will head to New Zealand to work on Peter Jackson's two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel, "The Hobbit." Facing him is a challenge that could intimidate any actor, portraying, both in voice and motion capture, the legendary dragon under the mountain, Smaug.
"I can't wait. I hope it does fans justice," said Cumberbatch, who is currently wrapping on another project before heading to Middle Earth.

"Immortals" is a movie for the guys, and Relativity wants you to know it, "Twilight" fans.
A new ad for the Tarsem Singh-directed action flick is trying to sell the film to a male audience while "the girls are at 'Twilight.'" "Real men can still get some action," the TV spot promises. Then again, I can highly recommend "Immortals" as a female-friendly flick as well (hell-ooo Henry Cavill). Your move, "Breaking Dawn -- Part 1."

Children of summer prepare yourself, because winter is finally returning, and it's not going to be pretty the second time around.
HBO has released a behind-the-scenes featurette from the second season of "Game of Thrones" that offers the first glimpse at footage from the highly anticipated show. All our favorite characters -- from Tyrion to Jon Snow to The Hound -- are included, as well as some new ones. And if you wanted another peek at Arya on the lam, then you're in luck.
Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss narrate the video and express their excitement for the upcoming second season. "So many great characters arcs and so many great characters and plot twists and reveals," Benioff promised. "I think it's going to be an incredible journey for our audience."

Any time an actor on the verge of A-list status appears fully naked in a movie, some weirdness is bound to follow. Such is the case for Michael Fassbender, the fast-rising star of such films as "X-Men: First Class" and "Prometheus." Beyond those big-budget spectacles, he's lately been appearing in quieter indie fare, including "Shame," an NC-17 drama where Fassbender stars as a sex addict and spends a healthy amount of screen time bearing much more than just his soul.
Following his nude appearance in "Shame," Fassbender has apparently become quite the expert on on-screen nudity. That's what we discovered in the latest edition of After Hours -- appropriately titled "Members Only" -- where Fassbender was tasked with identifying several of his actor contemporaries based on their... well, you know. See how Fassbender performed under pressure in our newest After Hours!

FROM MTV MOVIES: "Twilight" fans raced to theaters faster than Jacob running to stop Bella and Edward's wedding and gave "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" the fifth-biggest opening weekend of all time.
The fourth film in the romantic vampires-and-werewolves phenomenon collected $139.5 million domestically (more than $30 million of which was from midnight showings early Friday) for an estimated $283.5 million worldwide haul.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" stands behind only "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" ($169.2 million), "The Dark Knight" ($158.4 million), "Spider-Man 3" ($151.1 million) and 2009's "New Moon" ($169.2 million) on the all-time opening-weekend scorecard. It's worth noting that the "Twilight" grosses haven't relied on pricier 3-D or IMAX tickets like "Potter" or "Dark Knight." The new movie's numbers were within roughly 2 percent of the "New Moon" franchise best and helped propel the series' overall numbers past $2 billion worldwide.

The Bluth family's master plan to reclaim the public spotlight has moved several steps forward in recent months, with perhaps the biggest move of them all made over the weekend: new episodes of "Arrested Development" are officially coming to Netflix.
Deadline reports that Netflix has outbid prominent pay cable networks to attain the rights to the upcoming new season of "Arrested Development," a series of episodes that will reportedly pave the way for a big-screen comeback. The exact number of episodes remains undetermined, and it's said that specific episodes will be designated to specific characters. (Please, someone get me that Tobias Funke episode ASAP!)

Kurt Loder compiled over 200 of his favorite movie reviews in his new book "The Good, the Bad and the Godawful," but that doesn't mean that he still necessarily stands by them.
The former MTV.com movie reviewer recently sat down for a chat to promote the book, currently in stores. Though he didn't change his opinions in the reviews since he wrote them, Loder did admit that his personal opinions of some of the biggest films of the past decade have changed with time. Let's just say he might regret a thing or two he said about "The Dark Knight" when it was first released.
"I've definitely changed my mind about 'The Dark Knight,' which I was not really impressed with and now I think is one of the great movies. Just a great, great movie," he said.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is surely back. The former Governor of California has already taken close-to-center stage in the first "Expendables 2" poster, and now he's showing off just how much he's willing to endure during his long awaited return to the action movie arena.
"Got a little banged up on set today," Schwarzenegger tweeted from the set of "The Last Stand," his modern Western currently shooting in New Mexico. He posted a photo revealing his banged up forehead, along with a smirk that practically shouts "no problemo."
"Thanks to the medical staff who got me back in action an hour later!" he added.
